Wonderful stories for children.......2001-01-31
I checked this out from my library. I listened to it first to make sure it was okay to play for my four-and-a-half-year-old son. It was. He loved it. He goes around the house telling the bits he remembers. It's very cute. I would highly recommend this to any parent. Or any person wanting to hear 4 good folk tales well told.
Wonderfully entertaining classic Celtic storytelling.......1999-07-27
This wonderful collection of stories is a favorite of mychildren. My children ask for this one again and again, but I enjoyhearing the masterfully told stories so much, I don't mind hearing it over and over myself.
Wonderful Storytelling!.......1999-04-07
My 5 year old son was born on St. Patricks Day and received Irish Folk Tales as a birthday gift. It has been playing non-stop since the package was opened. The stories are delightful and Sharon Kennedy is a masterful storyteller!
Entrances young children who will listen over and over........1998-09-22
A mix of humor, suspense, and happy endings, these folk tales are entertaining for all ages. Sharon Kennedy's voice conveys perfectly the action in the story, and the listener's mind conjures up images as if reading from a picture book. We are transported to the Irish countryside with its bogs, hills, and windy roads - the perfect locale for wizards, leprechauns, and talking animals! My two preschoolers beg to hear these tales over and over, and I gladly comply as I've not tired of them yet either.

Half a decade after she released the beguiling Irish Folk Tales for Children, Sharon Kennedy returns with another winning album of Irish tales for kids, even though adults will find these folk tales just as entrancing and entertaining. In one example of the rich and magical world Kennedy serves up in four stories (totaling more than an hour of storytelling with one brief Irish musical interlude), pigs can't stop dancing ("Annie O'Reilly and the Magic Dancing Pig"). Of course, underlying this 16-minute fable is a sly critique, as the king of England wants this prized pig as his own and is wont to take things, but the pig eludes royal grasp. Kennedy proves again she's an accomplished seanachie (that's Gaelic for storyteller). Her voice is rich, warm, and musical as she spins imaginative foibles such as Tommy O'Rourke's visit to the moon, or as she delightfully relates an abridged version of the old Beowulf yarn in "Finn McCool." In the age of Harry Potter's magical adventures--and way too much TV watching--here's a grand listening exercise for children that will capture their heads and hearts while hopefully helping to keep their ears on. --Martin Keller

EXCELLENT for children and adults.......2004-03-12
My five-year-old son loves both of these CDs and though he has a fairly large, diverse and good quality CD collection, he requests these Irish Tales far more often than other ones --- for more than a year now.
The stories are great, the voices she gives the characters well-done and the music glorious. Do yourself a favor and buy BOTH of the tales. Just right for all of us Celts, and for those not who just love a great story well-told.
Another great CD.......2002-01-06
great stories, keeps the kids (and adults) interested and playing it over and over again. Need I say more?
