Wake Up Jeff
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
If the songs on Wake Up Jeff! don't rouse the pooped, purple-shirted Wiggle, nothing will. As kooky a Wiggles affair as ever, this CD boasts the boisterous sounds of "Henry's Underwater Big Band," on which a jellyfish drums, a walrus hums, and an electric eel plugs in; a lot of splishing and splashing on "Swim, Swim, Swim" and "Having Fun at the Beach"; and "Romp Bomp a Stomp" and "Bing Bang Bong," both as rollicking as they sound. Besides the sleepyhead-stirring songs, though, there's a handful of old favorites (the traditional, tongue-twisting "Bucket of Dew/Paddy Condon from Cobar," plus "A Frog Went a Walking," "Five Little Ducks," and "Pipers Waltz") and two original tunes whose lyrics demand a careful listen: "Guess What" quizzes kids with questions like "What's really cool and keeps things very cold?/It's white and it's where your food can live" and then "What's really soft and very warm too?/It's got a place to lay your head." Musically, this disc (like all the others by this group of goofball Aussies) traffics heavily in grooviness. Think of the Wiggles as the Monkees for munchkins. Fans of the foursome who caught the companion video and loved it should take a shining to this CD for its addition of 12 new tracks. For that matter, so should anybody who's under 5 and predisposed to wiggling. --Tammy La Gorce

Great car companion.......2007-06-08
My 2 year old likes this CD. We always have to listen to The Wiggles in the car. We have many Wiggles CDs and listen to a different one each day we are in the car. If you have a Wiggles fan, this CD is great.
One of their best.......2003-06-01
My 4 year old son is a real Wiggles fan. On a recent driving holiday, we forgot to pack CDs for our rental car, so purchased this. He loved it and after 10 days on the road we are all word perfect. It has a good mix of up beat songs and our son's hands down favourite is "Wake Up Jeff." I would definately recommend this one. If you have a preschooler and have not heard of the Wiggles, buy one of their CDs. Not only do the kids love it, but the music also appeals to the parents.
A Wiggly hit!!.......2003-02-28
This cd is awesome!! There is music from the wake up Jeff video and some others along with music you can only hear on this cd. The music is simple and catchy and fun to dance and sing along to. The wiggles have made car rides a dream now that my 18 mos old can listen to the wiggles instead of just crying.
We just love the Wiggles..........2003-01-28
my daughter, who is 17 months old, loves to watch the Wiggles shows and videos, so I decided to buy her some of the music. I chose this one because she loves when they have to wake Jeff up. It was a hit from the moment we got it. She loves to go into her bedroom, have me turn the music on, and then she dances from start to finish. Many times we have to start the music again. I think it is great that she tries to imitate the moves that the Wiggles do in the videos as well as describe in their songs. This is a must have.
This is Wigglicious.......2002-06-20
What can we say??? Our thirteen year old and our seventeen year old can't get enough of these wickedly wonderful wiggly tunes. If only all dinosaurs could be as nice as Dorothy, all dogs as waggly wonderful as Wags, and all Captains' as considerate as Captain Featherswood, the world would be a better place for all of us. So rock on Wiggly, we'll never outgrow you.

Wake Up and Smell the Parents
The Sex
Manufacturer: Infinity Cat Recordings
ProductGroup: Music
Binding: Audio CD
ASIN: B000JWS650 |
Product Description
"Here it is, the final (?) album from Nashville's legendary adolescent punks The Sex. The band played their last gig when they were 15, but they left behind this fuzz-pedal noise soup of 18 songs recorded one Sunday afternoon when the parents were away.
Includes their ode to the hardest rockin' girls on earth "Harpeth Hall Girls", as well as their rant to the biggest losers on earth, "Abuse Yourself".
Yeah, The Sex are anti-drugs, anti-racism, anti-sexisim, anti-alcohol-sucking-high-school-burn-out-loserism, but they're pro-fun! Funcookie Hardcore is their mission. Check out "My Belongings Order Me Around" and "Ducks In A Line", and you'll know why we're so glad that this very much missed Nashville punk band, whose members went on to start The Handicaps, be your own PET and Lord of the Deep (available here) left us with this rapid-fire tribute to their youthful exuberance, humor and boundless creativity.
Maximum RockNRoll says "They write the songs that all of us would have written at the age of 15 but they do it without jumping on any bandwagons, like a stripped down Black Flag meets Flipper. They do 'zines, run a label, play in a band and go to junior high. What the fuck were you doing at fifteen?!" The Village Voice-owned Nashville Scene says "It's a good thing for local rockers that The Sex's Jake and Jamin Orrall (and Jesse Weilberg) are underage, else a lot more bands in town would learn the hard way that The Sex are better and cleverer than they are.".

Customer Reviews:
The best album yet!.......2001-05-24
I love this CD and so does my 9-month-old baby Sara. We have them all, as well as all the videos, but this one has the catchiest beat and my baby claps and "wiggles" to every song. She can't walk or crawl yet, but when this CD comes on, she sits up and stomps her legs and claps her hands to the beat! All these songs tend to stick in my head though, as I sing them over and over to myself. I thought "Let's Wiggle" was the best album, but now I think this one is. The songs are simple, fun and so perky. If you are feeling blue these songs will snap you right out of that mood and make you smile and sing. We love The Wiggles! I've tried other "kids" albums and they stink compared to the Wiggles! This album has a summer beach feel to it. The song, "Having fun at the beach" sums up the whole albums flavor. It makes you want to pack up the car and head out to the beach! I give this CD a perfect score, and the Video is suburb as well. It's the only album/video that has all the same songs in both. Buy it now you will not be disappointed!
