Teletubbies: The Album [Soundtrack]

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
The constant repetition of the Teletubbies (what makes them so special to preschoolers) doesn't necessarily lend itself to good music (well, perhaps blues is about repetition, but as we all know, none of the Teletubbies are blue). Luckily, this disc--the Teletubbies' first domestic album--is still a sweet, fun record for young kids. Sure, it can be an odd blend at times: the dance tracks ("Puddle Dance," "Twisty Dance," "Running Away Dance," "Up and Down Dance") all follow the same electronic calliope formula--light waltzes of synth-treated bells, drums, and keyboards. "Tree" is an oddity, a New Age-for-toddlers number, but it's quickly followed by the Tubby opening anthem: the always pleasing "Teletubbies Say 'Eh-oh!'" Truth be told: "Dirty Knees" is the only track that will drive parents nuts: the narrator's one-track mind begins to sound like a fetish (you start wondering what "dirty" refers to, anyway). By the time "Lullaby" closes the disc out, you'll be ready for a rest, but your children will be begging for more. Extra points for great stereo action, with the Teletubbies' voices bouncing from channel to channel. Give your kids the headphones, and you'll both be all the happier! --Jason Verlinde

My daughter loves this album so much, she hasn't cried in her car seat in months, since we started listening to it in the car. Now, I am kinda tired of it, but she sings along, laughs and has a great time, and we're not ready to give it up yet!!

My daughter loves to hear the Teletubbies, since she alsowatches them on T.V., she can relate to the movements and thedifferent characters that appear on the CD. She specially loves the E-Oh song. Great Work!

I think that the teletubies are fun for kids. I think that most parents don't take the time to really listen and watch them. I use to hate them but after watching them for awhile with my 2 year old son I got to love them. especially La-la!

    4 out of 5 stars Eh-oh!.......1999-05-01

As a 58-year-old fan of the show I bought the C.D. just to get the "Lullaby" track from the infamous "Go To Sleep Teletubbies" episode but ended up loving the entire C.D. You'll be surprised at how tuneful and listenable this all is and it includes one dynamite track, the Teletubbies show opening with a lot else added in. Get out some Tubby Custard, make some Tubby Toast and enjoy!

4 out of 5 stars Great Video Alternative.......2003-05-21

My 2 year old is a die hard Teletubbies fan. I bought this CD after reading a review here at Amazon that suggested the music can be a good stand in for a video. To my amazement, it's true. My son is just as happy, if not happier, to listen to the music while playing as if he were watching the show. He will sometimes act out the scenes (he has completely memorized which sequences go with which song). Other times he plays with toys while listening. I'm much happier to see him playing with toys than sitting in front of the TV.

The recording includes both "score" pieces that go with animated segments (animals on parade, the tree, three boats) as well as the more familiar Teletubbies sequences complete with their voices.

Watch out, this recording can really stick in your head. My husband and I torment one another by humming a tune from the CD so that the other will have it stuck in his/her head. Particularly invasive are Dipsy's Hat and Six Dirty Knees. It's tolerable however, and I'm pleased that the score selections are included because they border on new age music and are very relaxing. Also the recording ends with a lullaby and makes a great segueway for suggesting a nap or bedtime.

Do not expect this CD to entertain older children. It really is intended for toddlers who are already quite familiar with the Teletubbies show.

      5 out of 5 stars again-again!.......2000-04-06

This CD is excellent and a must have for any parent of a tubbie fan, and the tubbies are purple, yellow, green, and red. Definitely not blue!

      1 out of 5 stars god no..........2000-03-24

This is REALLY REALLY annoying music. If I was 3 years old I would be annoyed. This is why I hate british television.

4 out of 5 stars This is a great video alternative. Lively & entertaining!.......1999-11-13

When my 2 year old received this CD on her birthday, we could not get it out of the CD player. It kept her entertained for hours and made her wonder how she could hear it and not see it. I absolutely recommend this CD to compliment any videos you may already have. It's great. By the way, the adults love it too!
