Sleep Fairy: Easy Sleep
Editorial Reviews
Album Description
The Sleep Fairy was created by Lisa Malkiewicz, a qualified stress management consultant, when her own daughter faced nightmares and a subsequent fear of going to bed. She realized her daughter's problem could be solved by modifying some of the techniques she used with her clients. By using her soothing voice and gentle direction, she made a recording that helped her daughter fall asleep. When friends started requesting copies, she invented the Sleep Fairy character and produced this record. The half-hour program is a guided relaxation/"spoken word lullaby" that welcomes children to dreamland, helps them develop positive mental habits, and increases self-esteem, all in a fun and imaginative way.

I think this music is intended for adults, though the photo on the cover is of a sleeping baby. In any event, Schumann's work, Scenes From Childhood, Op. 15, featured here is more likely to bolt you out of bed than put you to sleep, as the mike is far too close to the piano being played by Cyprien Katsaris. Purcell's Adagio from The Indian Queen is magnificent, performed by John Elliott Gardiner and the English Baroque Soloists. The Weird Award goes to triple harpist Tim Hobrough and lutenist Stephen Barber for their bizarre, spiky rendition of Minuets Nos. 4 and 5 from the Notebook of Anna Magdalena Bach. I would like to meet Bill Holland, producer of all these Atlantic Records classical compilations. He's programmed Satie's Gymnopedie No. 1 on three different CDs, billed alternately as sensuous, romantic, and now here: good for a long snooze. --Gwendolyn Freed

What is all the hype about?.......2007-07-09
I purchased this CD on the basis of the reviews written on Amazon. I have to say I am terribly disappointed. My son hates the CD, I listened to it and I am not all that impressed either. It is ok but nothing like described by other users.
great cd.......2007-06-26
We play this cd every night at bedtime. It not only helps my baby stay asleep, but helps me fall asleep. The only issue I have is that one of the tracks near the end of the cd is a little louder than the tracks before it, so I just make sure I keep it on very quiet and it's wonderful.
My girls listen to this every night.......2006-11-10
My girls (ages 3 & 5) have a hard time winding down at night. We have a regular bedtime routine (bath, snack, teeth brushing, books, hugs), but they still take forever to settle down and sleep. Adding this CD to the bedtime routine has really helped.
I would give it more than 5 stars...........2005-11-18
I had this CD when my daughter was born 5 years ago, and it gave us such a soothing environment in which to bond during quiet times. We also put it on shortly before we'd put her down to sleep, and by 6 weeks she was sleeping through the night in her own crib. I think it was her sanctuary, and the music helped her feel comforted. We've since then completely worn out the CD (she listened to it through her 3rd year), and will have to buy a new one for our next little addition (coming soon!). I found it on this site and just listened to the samples from each track. Aahhh... very soothing for Mommy, too!
I also plan to get it as a baby gift for a friend. :)
Great CD: soothing music by best performers. Worth every penny........2005-08-05
I listened to this CD countless times ever since I first bought it from BMG music service back in 1997. Compositions of this CD are popular classical hits. That is, you will likely recognize at least some of them if you listen to the sampler.
What sets this CD apart is supreme music performance. Every composition is performed flawlessly, with real feeling and passion. There is a good reason why this CD that was released in 1997 is still around and costs over ten dollars. This reason is called quality.

Transformed bedtime for the better.......2007-03-10
My daughter was having all kinds of bedtime anxiety and screaming, sobbing middle-of-the-night wakeups. This CD really did work wonders. She doesn't fight sleep anymore, and when she's afraid in the middle of the night, she turns it on and conks right back out. (We have it on an iPod attached to speakers in her room.) It's a little cloying for adults, but hey, we're not the demo. The CD starts with a progressive relaxation exercise, then moves on to calm, flora-and-fauna-centric guided imagery. For us, this has worked where sticker charts, bribes, threats and monster spray did not. It's given her a real sense of mastery and pride, too.
Works like a charm.......2005-06-30
When we first got this CD, both my 6 year old and 3 year old loved it. Neither of them ever made it to the end of the CD. It definitely puts children to sleep! Now, my almost 7 year old has outgrown it and prefers the Martha Stewart for kids CD but my almost 4 year old still asks for The Sleep Fairy. If you have trouble getting your kids to go to sleep , this is the CD for you!

My kids used to be very difficult at bedtime..........2005-04-16
A friend of mine recomended this cd to me and it has been a world of difference. The boys go to sleep easier and aren't so cranky in the moring either! Lisa Malkiewicz, you are a lifesaver!
Our family is grateful to have this CD for bedtime!.......2005-04-08
If you are like me and have at least one child with sleep issues you will love this CD. My youngest daughter, Sara, age 4, is too busy having fun to go sleep at night. I've tried all of the sleep remedies that I know about and nothing seems to work on a regular basis. The first night I played the Sleep Fairy CD for Sara I was simply amazed how she drifted right off to sleep. She listened intently to the subtle music and pleasant sounds effects and suddenly lost all interest in protesting bedtime. Sara seemed mesmerized by Lisa Malkiewicz's soothing and pleasing voice. You can just feel Lisa's smile in her calming and inspiring words.
This CD is designed to help children feel safe and secure before drifting off to sleep. With regular use, I believe it will also help children boost their self-esteem and help them positively respond to challenges they face during the day. The loving affirmations on this CD are a welcome change to the more typical children's bedtime music and bedtime stories.
The Sleep Fairy CD has an informative Website (www.sleepfairy.com/) with healthy sleep tips for children and a helpful article for parents detailing children's sleep patterns. Our family is grateful to have this CD as part of our bedtime routine options. --Dr. Lara Ashmore
SleepFairy...sweet fairy!.......2002-04-06
Bedtime is often a difficult time for my children...ages 5 and 7. Naturally, kids don't want to miss a thing...so protesting "lights out" is common place. We have always had a bedtime routine, including a song for each, hugs and kisses, and goodnight wishes...THAT JUST WAS NEVER ENOUGH!! I found myself feeling mildly irritated and resentful of the continuous effort put forth from my girls to prolong slumber...often they will bring up "life's unanswered questions" at the time of day when I want to go sit down and RELAX myself!! Playing the SLEEPFAIRY cd, gives the girls something to look forward to, it relaxes them, and puts their minds in a positive place. My older child often worries about events throughout the day, and my heart would break knowing troubling thoughts would be the last in her head before falling asleep. With the Sleepfairy, her thoughts are consumed with goodness, happiness, self-confidence, and enthusiasm to greet tomorrow!! I love IT, because I love my children!
Thanks Sleepfairy!
Truly,
Mom of Alexis and Carley!
