Once a year (twice if we're lucky) a kids' record that merits grown-up buzz reaches the bins--in 2004 it comes early. A World of Happiness is star-studded (Deborah Harry, Isaac Hayes, Samuel L. Jackson), loaded with wisdom, and follows a can't-miss formula established by its legendary 1970s forebear Free to Be You and Me. Simply put, there is much here to love: Lou Rawls' dreamy, soul-drenched title track, Illeana Douglas and Gary Oldman's cut-up "Just Ask," and Magic Johnson's ironic, perfectly paced tale of trumping the odds in "Little Me." These lessons land softly on growing ears--5- to 10-year-olds are the perfect targets, but older and younger kids will latch onto certain tracks too--and, like the 70s set it was modeled after, the CD leaves listeners in a place that feels safe and lit by inspiration. Count on it sounding right to more than a single generation, and to be among the few in your collection you try to protect when an over-eager handler has just put down her peanut-butter sandwich. --Tammy La Gorce

Really, reallly love this collection of downbeat, world and electronica perfectly mixed by the king of Buddha Bar himself, Claude Challe. This mix stays in the tradition of the Buddha Bar cd's as in having a more mellow mix on CD1 and a more upbeat mix on CD2. Stand out cuts on here are Ain't Feel Nothing by Zino And Tommy, Manvantara by Bliss, Sinnerman (Felix da Housecat's Heavenly House Mix) by Nina Simone, Orgasmus (Encore Une Fois Mix) by Claude Challe, Waiting (Afro Deep Remix) by Sheila Chandra and Move by Said Mrad. Overal this collection is excellent so go out and get it.

Claude Challe never seizes to impress - and this release is truly beautiful. The album is composed of African, Middle-Eastern, and Latin influenced mixes. Perfect lounge tunes...you will not be disappointed. Enjoy

Yes, Effervescent ... this compilation outright gives you the warm and fuzzies just as well as takes you to happy places but "that's not all!" Just put disc 2 in and you're off to create the ultimate club lounge environ.

One more time Claude Challe demonstrated his primacy as a world number 1 in the lounge music.
This album is definetely the best released in the year 2004.
Claude is artist who follow the titles of his albums with songs, always giving positive vibrations and feelings.
Mixing traditional and modern music without damaging the original songs content and alternating at the same time the music styles, Claude Challe reached the perfection.
He is one of the rare artists who truly opened his soul towards the listeners and new talents. Peace&Love

If you are a fan of DEAN MARTIN,you'll love those two 1967 lps .We're about halfway mark through the REPRISE years,and DINO fresh from the success of his tv series, almost transform everything from the standards to his new songs like LITTLE OLE WINE DRINKER,ME into his own unique style.That is the mark of a singer who knows his craft,even if the material is medium.This is easy listening music at it's best,and DINO is almost in the twilight of his career with still a few delights to come.As you know,there are many DEAN MARTIN impersonators nowadays,but why not stick with the original?The song IN THE CHAPEL IN THE MOONLIGHT was originally a FRENCH song recorded by LEO MARJANE in 1938 under the title LA CHAPELLE AU CLAIR DE LUNE.

These are probably not Dino's finest Reprise recordings, but there are a few gems. "Welcome To My World" equals the original rendition by Jim Reeves, though somewhat different in style. Dean's "Green Green Grass Of Home" is very impressive. "Little Old Winedrinker" is fun, and there are nice cuts of "Wallpaper Roses" and "Chapel In The Moonlight (great Ernie Freeman arragnements and the latter is an extremely impressive vocal by Dean), and the gentle "I Can't Help Remembering You". The rest is filler...but good filler!

This is my second favorite of the two fer CD series and well worth purchasing if you are considering it. These two albums were released within three months of each other and I would assume were recorded together because together they sound like one album. I like each and every song but I prefer Elvis's version of Please Release Me. I especially like Think About Me ,He's Got You, and Welcome To My World . All said these are two great albums which I will listen for many years to come.

        I bought this CD for my neice. She loves it! What I didn't expect was that I'd love it too. So I bought another just for me. Okay, so maybe it's not trendy to listen to a kids CD as an adult, but I don't care. Perry Farrell and Debbie Harry are just too cool!

        Where else can you find original songs and poems performed by a diverse
        cast of stars such as Deborah Harry, Perry Farrell and Samuel L. Jackson?
        This immaculately produced album WILL appeal to parents as well as children.
        "Just Ask" is a hilarious reminder for kids to do just that.
        Other highlights include "The Possibilities", which boasts one of the best
        tunes on the CD plus a beautiful string arrangement and vocals. Recommended!

        This album is just full of joy. As a mother, I have found it so difficult to find quality material for my daughter. I figured there must be more then the teletubbies and Barney. That stuff is just terrible and a horrible influence on children. Now, with this CD, I finally have something for my child that is great fun to listen to and contains the positive messages I want my child to hear. Great music and amazing performances. Can't wait for the next one (will there be a next one?)

        I purchased this cd based on other reviews here on Amazon, and my son and I are both disappointed with its dull, show tune styling. The intention of the album may be admirable, but the material and delivery are far from inventive. This album is likely to appeal to lovers of Raffi and Broadway musicals and the like, but it seriously lacks depth and feeling. The producer obviously has some good show biz connections, with an impressive list of performers. Unfortunately, this collection of performers just ends up being a cute idea rather than an amazing listening experience. Any comparison to "Free to Be, You and Me" borders on offensive.

        For some truly terrific family music that is beautiful, fun, inspiring, creative, moving, and world-changing, check out these performers instead: Dan Zanes, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Justin Roberts.

        5 out of 5 stars SUSAN HAYWARD BELTS IT OUT.......2005-03-31

        This CD is a rare treat for Susan Hayward fans - a chance to hear her do her own singing in the film "I'll Cry Tomorrow" based on the story of Lillian Roth, who battled alcoholism in her life. The sound quality is EXCELLENT and the CD includes extensive notes, and even includes unused tracks, such as the vocal efforts of studio vocalist Sandy Ellis, who was originally going to dub for Hayward. Many people are not aware that the real Lillian Roth was disapointed that her own voice tracks were not used for the film. But, Hayward surprised everyone with her surprisingly goodvocal range. The background music is exceptionally fineas well, and is all included here. This CD is a must-have for Susan Hayward fans - and lovers of fine film score music as well.

        I came across this CD at a music festival booth. I asked the vendor what would be good for massage, as I am a CMT. He popped The Dreaming into a CD and I listened for about 5 minutes before I was hooked.

        Just about every one of the songs on the CD is amazing. An incredible mix of Middle Eastern rhythms, ethereal voices, and otherwordly ambience. People ask me all the time what I am playing when I use this CD for my massage sessions. I recently got a DJ friend into this music, and he's in the process of acquiring all 4 CDs by this duo.

        My absolute favourite song is Dmaot Malach. When I listen to it with my boyfriend, it feels like we're a million miles away from the world.
        We're major fans of Zero 7 and Sound Tribe Sector 9, and this CD is also with us on any trip or evening together.

        I had heard several tracks from this CD and was excited about receiving it, however, I was blown away by the fact that I LOVED EVERY TRACK on it. Not only from the point of view of a fan of fabulous music, but from the fact that I can use the music in the psychotherapeutic exercises I facilitate (Breathwork and tantra therapy). Every track is hugely evocative and transporting and the sequence of the tracks is perfect. Couldn't be happier about a music purchase.

        One of our teacher at the yoga studio put this music during a class. Suddenly, everything was different, everything was flowing with grace and I would feel going deep into myself as the poses went.
        But you don't need to practice yoga to like it. It's real music and the soul and the inspiration are there.

        I found this CD in a yoga shop and bought it without knowing anything about it. it was one of the best purchases i made! The soft and melodic tracks, with sophisticated rhythms and beats underneath are perfect to play around the house, and especially when working. I'm a graphic designer, and we play this CD all the time in the studio. It really helps the creative flow...! And what's interesting is that i don't seem to be getting tired of it, i just keep discovering new layers and depth.
        It's a wonderful CD, i highly recommend it.

          Sweet Seraphic Fire brings together two unique bodies of American sacred song: choral compositions from the New England singing-school tradition and the most popular Evangelical Protestant hymn texts in historic American use. In the late eighteenth century the New England singing-school movement produced America's first great sacred-music style, employing several genres of unaccompanied four-part choral compositions with the melody in the lead (tenor) part. The enormous popularity of singing-school music also promoted a canon of hymn texts shared across America's competing Evangelical Protestant denominations. This recording contains neglected masterworks from the New England singing school that also helped to create the American hymn canon. Marking a more recent turn in this process, we have also included some new settings of traditional Evangelical lyrics written by leaders in the revival of singing-school music that has blossomed in the Northeast since 1976. ! Selection of pieces for this recording was determined by correlating "The Norumbega Harmony"--our collection of one hundred six historic New England singing-school compositions and thirty contemporary works in traditional style--with a list of the three hundred most frequently printed hymn texts in America from 1737 to 1960. --Stephen Marini

          This is a REALLY cool album of shape-note singings, I particurlarly like EVERY STRING AWAKE and ANTHEM FOR EASTER.
          Some of the songs are kind of dreary, (Hatfield) but all in all this is COOL!!!
