Chicken Soup For Little Souls: You're A Special Person - Songs To Enhance Your Unique Spirit
Editorial Reviews

Based on the successful book series of the same name, this imaginatively compiled selection brings together songs that have an affirming message for children. Ranging from the pomp of Broadway songs like Cy Coleman's "One Brick at a Time" (sung heartily by Glenn Close) to the 1960s folk-pop of Mama Cass Elliot's "Make Your Own Kind of Music" to the synthesizer and drum-machine sound of children's entertainer Joanie Bartels's "Give a Little Love," the collection features a wonderful variety of musical styles and songs, not all of which were originally conceived for children. The collection's strength lies in the inclusion of several show tunes: the energetic songs stand out so much from the more smoothly orchestrated children's fare that your child may beg to be the next Annie (or Oliver). --Bryony Angell

Make your own kind of music, give a little love.......2006-04-17
Make your own kind of music, and give a little love.
"Give a little love" is a good song for families that have children, I think. Here are some of the words: "Give a little love, add a little hope, make this world a little better." It is a good song. "Make your own kind of music," which is one of the songs, is good for people who like to sing. Here are some of the words: "Make your own kind of music, sing your own special song. You gotta make your own kind of music, even if no one else sings along."

Fun inspirational songs!.......2005-07-26
Great cd for kids! These are inspirational songs that help them feel better about being themself. Absolutely incredible cd!
Incredibly uplifting!.......2000-11-22
I bought this CD because of one song, "A Place in the Choir." My 8 year old son, who loves to sing, joined the childrens' choir at his Catholic school. He is the only boy in the choir and immediately became the brunt of teasing because of this. I had never heard the song before, but I hoped it would help.
What an amazing transformation. From the instant they heard the first track, both of my children (6 y.o. daughter too) sucked up both the music and the message like sponges. The music is energetic and uplifting and the messages, although varying slightly from song to song reaffirm that each one of us is unique and valuable.
Surprisingly, it wasn't "A Place in the Choir" that spoke to my son (although he loves that song too). It was Cass Elliot's song "Make Your Own Kind of Music" that touched him. He said "You know Mom, I like that line 'it tears them up to see some one like you.' I think that is why some people were teasing me."
You go son!
Lifts spirits.......1999-09-06
This is a great compilation of songs for children. I teach first grade and I play this album while my children are completing their tasks. They love all the songs and enjoy singing along to the tunes. Great for self-esteem and reinforcing positive behavior.
