Instrumental albums from Walt Disney's mega-empire are a rarity. But judging from the excellence of Disney's Lullaby Album--from the superb arrangements to the surprise song choices--you'll probably be hearing more of them. Producer and arranger Fred Mollin exhibits not only good taste and restraint in his approach, but his song choices sweetly complement one another. Treading the fine line between Muzak and genuinely soothing music, Mollin lands softly and sentimentally on such Disney movie song classics as "Baby Mine," "When You Wish upon a Star," and "Stay Awake/Feed the Birds," as well as on other chestnuts such as "Brahms Lullaby" and Kenny Loggins's "House at Pooh Corner." The real delights, though, are the Beatles' "I Will" (rendered beautifully on piano and strings), Louis Armstrong's timeless "What A Wonderful World," the classic "Beautiful Dreamer," the old doo-wop favorite "Good Night My Love (Pleasant Dreams)," and an inspired reprise of "Brahms Lullaby" joined with Gershwin's "Someone to Watch over Me." Terrific bedtime CD for babies, kids and parents.......2006-01-13

We received this CD as a gift right after our little girl was born, and she has listened to it almost every night since then (15 month now). It seems to completely relax her, and she knows it so well now that it actually relaxes and helps her sleep when we are away from home. We also hear it in the monitor while going to sleep, and it is soothing for us as well! I love it, we have gotten some other lullaby CDs and this one is at the top of the list as far as I am concerned!

Good for parent and baby.......2005-09-18

I have this cd as well as the 2nd volume in this set and both are very soft, enjoyable compilations. There are no voices so you don't have to worry about listening to anyone's annoying voice. The instrumental composition is very relaxing. I have the cd repeating all through the night for my son and have yet to tire of either one.

The best Lullaby CD.......2002-12-28

This is the best CD. My daughter went to sleep to this CD for the first 12 months of her life. She is almost 2 now and uses it to fall asleep atleast once per week. I have other Lullabye CDs that I like better but this one did the trick.

there are better lullaby albums.......2001-08-21

This is a nice enough CD of lullabies, but it is not exceptional. There are instrumental versions of traditional songs (Brahms' Lullaby), Disney songs (Baby Mine) and more contemporary artists (Kenny Loggins, Lennon and McCartney, George and Ira Gershwin). The songs are nice and the arrangements are good, but there are better CDs available -- "On a Starry Night" and "The Planet Sleeps" come to mind. I would try those collections first.

Also, there is no decent booklet accompanying this CD, as there are with other collections. Not even minimal information is included, such as the source of the music used. Composers are named and that is it. Could have been better done.

I bought this CD for my daughter when she was first born. I was looking for an instrumental CD with traditional songs I knew. This CD has all of that and more. The music is very soothing and relaxing. My daughter falls asleep with it every night. I love it! I have given it as a gift to all the new mommies and daddies I know.
