Just when you've settled into one cut on this smorgasbord of voices, styles and topics, you're sent off in a totally different direction ... sorry to leave the "old" behind, delighted to follow the new. A slyly silly country-and-western original (Eleven Galion Hot) shares the limelight with the finger-snapping Eat Your Fruit (à la the Beach Boys); a slowdance ballad (Something Special) gives way to a mariachi Mr. Fuzz. Imaginationstretching words abound, especially in the lyrical God's Dog (who just can't seem to keep from chasing the stars). This is an introduction to a host of talented musicians and their first-rate music.

I bought this on a lark in a record shop when my son was a newborn. I figured anything put out by a Children's Music Workshop had to be quality. It far surpassed anything I could have imagined. I found myself singing the songs, even when alone. Each song has its own flavor, from slightly country on 11-Gallon Hat to downright bluesy on Sky Blue Catfish. I find myself giving it to new parents as a great musical introduction for their babies. Pick up a copy--you will be glad you did!
