I haven't purchased the CD but the picture of the inside of a church on the cover is not of a British church, like one would assume since it says its a recording of British choirs. This picture is of Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Just thought i'd let you know. I'll be honest; I'm one to judge things by it's cover and if the company took such care to choose a 'British' church for their British choir CD, I'm willing to bet the music is equally well selected... I'm being sarcastic. But I gave the product 5 stars because I didn't want to hurt its ratings just because i'm cynical. But check out the church if you're ever in Montreal, it's truly beautiful... here I'm not being sarcastic.

      THIS CD IS SOOOO AWESOME!! It really blessed my soul and I hadn't heard of him until I heard "So Glad" on the radio. I inquired about him and I'm glad-well, So Glad I did! I haven't found a CD that you will LOVE EVERY SONG since Fred Hammond's Pages of Life. Kevin has a gift for writing music that hits your soul. Awesome buy! Worth 1,000,000 cents for every penny! I am waiting for his concert!

      This CD was a very pleasant surprise as I had never heard of this artist. There are several selections which will blow your socks off. Kevin has a great voice and they blend well with the songs. You will not go wrong by purchasing this CD as Kevin will "Show You the Way."

      Serendipity brought me to this album and the outcome has been hours and hours of listening pleasure. I tend to get favorites and listen to them til they wear out. I love this album. The standards are refreshingly new and the original pieces are exactly that. Original. The compositions are filled with color and nuance that grows with each listening. I am sure it's not for everyone - someone who can only listen if they know the words, for instance. The music on this album wordlessly creates a rich tapestry of moods that pleases me anew each time I listen.

      The compositions are smart and deep. After ten listenings I am still drawn in and surprised. Ms. Pintchik builds to climatic solos using unique voicings while the bass player is a virtuoso and really listens. The percussionist adds striking timbres and has a presence that moves the music along. Have Ears? Highly Recommended.

      Competent, but uninspired and boring. The sound quality is marginal even though it's SACD. The piano is miked too far away and is too low in the mix. Spend your money on Oscar Peterson or Bill Evans instead.

      I've only been looking for this album on CD for the past 10 years!!!!! Keep checking back to see if the record company have been smart enough to go digital with it. This is such a super album - not just of good tunes, but also of GREAT lyrics. "If we are the Light" is my favourite song. What a poignant song for us Christians... "If we are the Light, why is the world so dark?" Other favourites are "Just in Time" and the title track "So Glad I Know." There might be a distinctly 80s feel to this album, but don't let that put you off from listening to some really cool gospel music that is very well produced and of a very high quality. Can't wait to get my hands on the CD - even if I have to pay $35 for it!!!!!

      This boxed set is by far one of the best purchases I have ever made. As a Purcell freak, this hits every button I have. The cast of characters include the inequitable Robert King, New College Choir, Bowman, and a host of other venerable persons. Likewise the attention to period performance of these works makes it an essential addition to the library of any serious anglophile/Musicologist etc. Now if only the Britten Realizations of all Purcell's songs could be recorded alongside the originals! You will Love this set!

      Percy Faith blends two award winning Broadway Shows together "Subways Are For Sleeping" (originally released on Columbia Records CS 8533 in 1961) and "Do I Hear A Waltz?" (originally released on Columbia Records CS 9117 in 1965), following the formula of previous albums from the vault of rare finds ~ two more winners are under the baton of the Maestro.

      This is a delightful collection of hymns and anthems, familiar and not so familiar, beautifully performed and recorded by a fine but lesser known English choir, with superb organ accompaniment on the Willis organ of Huddersfield Town Hall.

      Here can be found examples of everything that is good in the British choral tradition: lusty hymn singing; sustained legato phrasing in Mozart's "Ave Verum"; fervent declamatory singing in Vaughan Williams' "Let all the world"; dramatic contrast and sensitive accompaniment in Mendelssohn's "Hear My Prayer"; generous, open sound in Parry's exultant "I was glad."

      "Songs of Praise" has the edge over several similar recordings, by virtue of this choir's infectious enthusiasm for the music it is performing. Hopefully this is the first of many recordings. Well done, Naxos for finding them!
