Bobby Susser Brings Animals To Life For Young Children.......2006-05-29

In this collection of songs about animals for young children, Bobby Susser has written the most memorable songs I and my preschool class have ever heard. He has his own style, unlike any other. His music and repetitive lyrics enhance each animal and he brings each animal to life. I and my class are great fans of his, and this collection is a natural, just as Eric Carle's picture books for my class of preschoolers is. Reading a picture book about an animal by Eric Carle and playing a song about an animal by Bobby Susser is one of the highest moments in a day for my kids, and I'd safely say that you'd get the same positive reaction from your preschoolers. All these songs are magical songs for little kids. And I can't emphasize enough that just as Eric Carle leaves his unique imprints on each of his picture books, so does Bobby Susser on each of his songs. Listen to the simplicity of "A Joey" and "There's A Seal At The Zoo," as well as "A Turtle Named Tommy" and you will no doubt hear the magic in Bobby Susser's songs and "Animals At The Zoo."

All you have to do is play these Bobby Susser songs for young children as I do for my kindergarten class and you will discover that these songs about the animals cannot be beat. The title song "Animals At The Zoo" is a rocking song for children, "A Joey" is bouncing with the help of great drum beats, "The Friendly King Of The Jungle" is impossible to forget, and "A Turtle Named Tommy" has such soul with an important lesson for children about sticking with things you start until the job is done. The first time the children in my first grade class heard these Bobby Susser songs, I knew this CD was magnificent. The songs are so exciting and invite the children to sing along and learn about the animals. The songs are easy to learn and the musical arrangements are also magnificent. Each song makes the children feel the particular animal that is being sung about. This is done through the lyrics and the performances of the singers, as well as the sounds of the instruments. There is a great variety of musical styles and each style was chosen very appropriately for the particular animal being sung about. If you are in need of a collection of animal songs for young children, don't pass this one by. It's sure to be a great success as it is with my class of first graders.
