Doo-wop has reappeared recently in the guise of current pop vocal groups, but for sheer fun and good craziness, nothing can beat the real thing. Doo Wop for Kids! is a great record if only for its acute choice of songs: the Coasters singing their popular "Charlie Brown" and "Yakety Yak," the Silhouettes' "Get a Job," the tongue twisting "Rama Lama Ding Dong" by the Edsels, and 11 others. Kids and adults are bound to go "papa-oom-mow-mow" over these tunes, many of them blurring the line between R&B and rock & roll. With the Marcels crooning "Blue Moon," the Bobettes bouncing through "Mr. Lee," and the Hollywood Flames going "Buzz Buzz Buzz," the bobby-socks warning goes immediately into effect: put this record on before bed and you'll have a major party breaking out in your house. --Martin Keller

Yakety Yak: Don't talk back! Instead, take a listen to this nifty set of classic doo-wop tunes, geared as an introduction for the younger generation ... and those who love 'em. (The songs and the kiddies.) The 14 tracks include daffy doo-wop gems sung by the original artists including "Charlie Brown," "Mr. Lee," "Alley Oop" and "Get a Job." Silly -- as in "Papa Oom Mow Mow," "Rama Lama Ding Dong" and "Rubber Biscuit" -- doesn't get better than this.
