Puts them to sleep without driving you crazy.......2007-05-09

My two children each listened to this tape at bedtime for several years running, from the time my daughter was age 1 or 2 until her kid brother got to be about 6 or 7 -- all told, nearly ten years. I never would have believed that I could stand hearing the same bunch of kid songs night after night for a decade. But these are not sappy, cloying ditties. They are gentle, soothing tunes that are very kid-friendly yet do not grate on an adult's ears. The CD has nine songs, followed by instrumental versions, which are even more relaxing than the vocal versions. For the kids, starting the music playing was a signal that it was time to sleep, and most times they'd be out by the third song. On restless nights it seemed to help keep them calm until they eventually fell asleep. Turning it on again after a nightmare often helped dispell the fright. Each kid continued to use this music as part of her/his bedtime routine long after the toddler stage, because it was familiar and relaxing. It's a lot of peace of mind at a small price.

I love this album! I was given this album on cassette tape when my first daughter was born. We wore it out. I sang her " I L-O-V-E-Y-O-U" in the hospital. The whole CD is so sentimental to me. The melodies are beautiful and the songs are easy to remember so you can sing them to your child even when you don't have the CD handy. I was so happy to hear that I could purchase it on CD! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!

This CD is so beautiful, I played it for my son when he was young. I sang along with the songs to put my son to sleep. We love this song collection. Now, my grandson has his own to enjoy.

We've had the cassette in the van(s)for over 11-years and have traveled the midwest & western states many times listening to this soothing and very enjoyable music. If the kids were getting cranky, car sick, or just needed to settle down, A Child's Gift of Lullabyes would always calm them. It was fun to hear them softly sing along. (Including the instrumentals was brilliant!) I'm getting the CD now so we can retire the trusty cassette. I'm glad that after 20-years it is still easily available. Every new parent should own this!

16 years.......2006-02-19

I received this as a tape in 1989 when I had my first child. 16 years later she still wants to hear me sing these songs to her, and this tradition has been passed down to her little sister who loves these songs just as much. Every night for the last 16 years. We are getting the CD as the tape wore out long ago!

For anyone wishing quality for their children I've yet to find anything better. This is a magical CD. When it was stolen from the car, my son(now 18)requested I reorder it. The voice of the storyteller transports us to places and feelings we've rarely experienced and yet share a common human experience of joy and hope.If I could only purchase one CD for my child - this would be it...and I would be listening.

We Love It!!.......2006-01-16

I put this on my 19month old daughter's Wish List for Christmas and we just listened to it today. She loved the animal sounds in the beginning and danced to some of the music. It's not something she'll sit down and just listen to as a storytime yet, but I think it will be a timeless addition to our CD collection. As an adult, I enjoyed listening to the stories and the music. A good buy for younger and older children as the music is very rythymic, but not too loud (I think my daughter would have liked it as an infant).

This album is a great hit with our toddler. Many, many nights she requests to listen to this CD as she goes to sleep. The rhythms are wonderful for young ears, she loves to sing the choruses with the children on the recording............it tickles me to see my daughter respond so positively to lyrics in a language foreign to her.

I bought this CD because it was geared toward children, but it had the beautiful acapella harmonies of Ladysimith Black Mombazo, which I enjoy. I found the stories to be enchanting, and my 2.5-year-old loves to sing and clap along to the songs. This is a wonderful CD to have in your own library as a break from nursery rhymes and traditional children's songs. It also makes an excellent gift for friends and family.

This is great music no matter how you look at it. The kids will bop along, the parents will be happy it's real songs and not more Disney/Nickelodeon crap, and the grandparents won't be disturbed by it when they have to play it over and over for the little ones.

Carnie Wilson, daughter of legendary Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson, has a varied career as a singer, songwriter, actress, author, and TV talk show host. As a member of Wilson Phillips she enjoyed unparalleled debut album success, selling ten million copies with three number one hit singles including the song "Hold On." The group's second album achieved international multi-platinum success selling three million albums.

One year after the birth of her daughter, Lola Sofia, Carnie is releasing her first ever solo album "A Mother's Gift: Lullabies From The Heart." The album is a collection of traditional and new songs, all inspired by Carnie's recent journey into motherhood. The 12-track CD features such classics as "Over the Rainbow," "What A Wonderful World," and "You Are So Beautiful," a moving duet with her father Brian Wilson. Additionally there is a cover of the song "Heaven" by her late uncle Carl Wilson. I'm a diehard Wilspn Phillips fan so my opinion may well be biassed. But the point is: I was blown away by this CD!!! I'm buying a copy for al my "mother" friends for next mother's day... On the first listen, I loved all the classics, but the original stuff is realy good! Wendy and her husband wrote one of the best songs on the album. The vocals are top notch!!! Congrats Carnie... You've done it again. The pictures are so sweet!!! Lola's a beauty (looks just like Rob) PS. CAN'T WAIT FOR A NEW WP ALBUM!!!

This is a Spectacular Lullabye CD! I am a huge Beach Boys Fan and especially Brian Wilson Fan! He & Carnie sing beautiful together, I would love to hear more. Carnie sings Forever, (one of my favorite songs that Dennis sings) Her calming and soothing voice brought tears to my eyes with this one! Great Job Carnie! Your Lola Sofia is BEAUTIFUL!!

Love this CD set!.......2006-11-06

Most of the songs are familiar worship and praise songs I grew up with or now sing in church! It's a very comforting soothing version. I keep mine playing day and night, so when you walk into the nursery the spirit of God is presant! I turn it up when I'm nursing or soothing my baby! I highly recommend this CD set as a gift of for yourself!

Great CD set for baby.......2006-08-18

My (currently 1 month old) baby and I love this CD set. It features current, popular as well as older favourite praise and worship music and hymms. The songs are sung by a female with children background vocals which are soft and soothing in a lullaby-like theme. As a person in my church's worship team, this is also a great way for me to sing along to my baby. The songs calm her and help her nap/sleep. I also enjoy rocking her and singing along to her with these CDs and it really reinforces our bonding time. Also great for car rides but watch you don't fall asleep or get too relaxed.

my daughter loves this!.......2006-07-19

My 7 year old daughter loves this CD! So do all her friends. She listens all the time and it is our favorite sing along for the car. Of course, as an adult I like the real Beatles the best...but I was pleasantly surprised at how good these kids versions are. I don't understand all the "how dare they do this with the Beatles" stuff that some people blabber about. For me it works...my daughter loves it and now seems more interested in my other Beatles CDs, AND I much prefer hearing this over and over again versus some of the other kids music we have.

Not better than The Beatles.......2006-07-14

The songs are supposedly sung by kids, but some of them are sung so similarly to the originals that it's hard to tell. Not that it's BAD that the songs are similar, it's just that, well, it's just not an improvement to the real Beatles, so why not just get a CD of the Beatles. I also bought Beatles 1 at the same time, and my 2 yr old loves listening to it. Get that instead.

The Best Kids Music CD!.......2005-10-13

This is the best kids music CD we own. All three of my kids (ages 1 through 7) love listening to it. The best part of it is that I enjoy it too. Of course I have all the original Beatles records, but this CD does such a great job of introducing the kids to this music that it's fun for me and my husband too. Like another reviewer said, my kids weren't interested in the real Beatles recordings before. But after listening to this for a while, they are starting to enjoy both - The Bingo version and the originals. What a great idea. What a great album. I wish they would do the same with other groups. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A gateway to the Beatles.......2005-09-11

This cd is a good introduction to the Beatles. While the original recordings of these songs are my preference, that wasn't the case with my two year old. She didn't take to the originals. So these versions provided the necessary gateway to the originals. The songs are recreated very faithfully, but with children singing most of the chorus'. This was what was needed to create the interest for my child. After a few weeks of listening a seamless transition to the "#1's" was accomplished.

Great Stuff!.......2005-04-22

I love this album. My kids love to listen to both the original Beatles and these versions. They especially love to listen to other kids singing! These versions seem to be made with the highest quality in mind and with respect for the orignal versions. After we got this album my children were dancing around and singing along. They request it over and over and the nice part is that it is also great for my wife and I to listen to (more so than other kids albums like The Wiggles). I highly recommend this album.
