Looney Tunes Kwazy Christmas
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
The wise quackers from the classic Warner Brothers cartoon live up to their timeless reputation for irreverence and slapstick on The Looney Tunes Kwazy Christmas. They manage to bend and blur such holiday anthems as "Let It Snow," "Feliz Navidad," "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," and others. But you've probably never really heard "O Christmas Tree" until you've heard Elmer Fudd sing it, and you've never understood the true meaning of Christmas you've heard Tweety Bird croon "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." The album, which downsizes all your holiday faves to cartoon antics, is loosely framed in a running story about going to Granny's ("Over the River," etc.) that kids may not follow even though (boomer) parents may get readily transported back in time to their own childhood Christmases. --Martin Keller

A visit from old friends.......2003-11-09
I bought this CD as Looney Tunes Christmas was out of stock. While the CD doesn't come up to par with the old WB productions (what does?), it is very enjoyable. Listen closely and it's easy to miss Mel Blanc, but the character's voices are close enough that if your not too picky you can almost believe it's the originals.
The CD involves the cast taking a trip to Grandma's house and the adventures they have there, the songs tie into the story so it works well for the kids and for the adults in a playful mood.
If you are hoping to relive the past glory of the WB productions, you will be disappointed, however, if you just want to have a nice Christmas visit with some old friends, this should do.
Nice Novelty CD.......2002-12-16
I run my own Internet-Only Radio Station with Live365.com. Normally I run a 1980s Top 40 Hits format, but I sprinkle in and eventually switch to a solid Holiday Music format after Thanksgiving. One of my music categories in the Holiday format is "Novelty". Of course in this category I already have that "Grandma Got Run Over..." song from Elmo & Patsy, along with lots of stuff from Bob Rivers. But let's face it, I run the Novelty category 4 times per hour, so I need all the help I can get, since Novelty Holiday music is often hard to come by. This Looney Tunes CD was a good one to add for that special category. I had to laugh my tail off when I heard Daffy's "Britney Spears" line in their version of "T'was The Night Before Christmas". I also liked "Double Deck The Hall" because it really brought out reminders of just how maddening decorating your house for the Holidays can really be. Most of the other songs were "fair" but not really worthy of adding to my station. However if you need a good laugh this Holiday season (and hey, who doesn't?), you might like this album.
