Editorial Reviews Wayne Brown , is the Magpie's drummer. And what a drummer! Wayne's keen sense of time and distinct and innovative ideas provide the group with a solid anchor and a full rich sound. Wayne, is also a veteran of the Southern Ontario music scene where he continues to perform and teach. John McPhee sings like a bird. Though all the Magpies are gifted vocalists, singer/guitarist John McPhee (hailing from the East Coast of Canada) has one of those voices that just stands out. John's vocal performances are so passionate and lively, they are liable to leave you in stitches or in tears. All the way from Ireland, the Magpie's Richard Kelly (a.k.a. "Mr.Fix It") provides percussion in a very creative way. Whether it's banging coconuts on the floor, playing a screen door with a toilet brush or playing a bodhran between his knees, Richard's fresh and innovative approach to percussion is sure to delight you. Richard Kelly is also a veteran musician and has performed with various groups all over the world. BAND_MEMBERS: Jim Wilde; John McPhee; Wayne Brown; Richard Kelly.

About the Artist
The Magpies were formed by veteran Ontario musician Jim Wilde, who set out to record a few songs for his children, and ended up with an entire album (all original songs but two) and a band of talented and dedicated musicians as well. Jim, who plays keyboard, mandolin, guitar, bass and penny whistle writes the main body of the group's work. " I write about the things that interest my children....the things that amuse them.... But I don't play down to them when I'm writing (the music)...we put our hearts into this stuff." Jim has worked in the music business for well over twenty years working as musical director for Peter Pringle in the 80's, as well as work with children's performers April and Susan, Kim and Jerry, Eric Nagler, and Deborah Dunleavy.
