Singable Songs for the Very Yo
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com essential recording
Though recorded in the 1970s, this classic Raffi album is still one of the children's troubadour's bestsellers. The gentle, joyful style; simple musical arrangements; and easy-to-follow up-front vocals have made Singable Songs for the Very Young a favorite among tiny tots, parents, and preschool teachers. By combining traditional songs like "The More We Get Together," "Down by the Bay," and "Going to the Zoo" with Raffi originals like "I Wonder If I'm Growing," "Peanut Butter Sandwich," and a jazzy near-cover, "Old MacDonald Had a Band," the album has a familiar feel while giving young children the opportunity to learn new songs and rhythms. Other notable titles include the interactive "Brush Your Teeth," "Five Little Pumpkins," and the tongue-twisting "Willoughby Wallaby Woo." --Deborah Moore --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

For a new generation.......2007-07-04
I bought this CD for my grandchildren to listen to. Our family, including their father, always listened to the original on long trips. My grandchildren love most of the songs too. My 6 year old grandson finds some songs "boring" but mostly they love it, just like their father did.
Fun songs to sing a long with baby!.......2007-05-03
My son really loves this. And I have to admit, it's infectious! I sing them to him at other times, too. For example, when it's time to brush his teeth, I sing that song. He smiles and opens his mouth wide to brush his teeth. If he gets fussy in the car, I know I can pop this in and he will settle immediately. I catch him smiling to himself, too.
High nostalgia level!.......2007-04-02
I have had Raffi music in my home for the last 30 years - my own 5 children have enjoyed his music and I have purchased Raffi CD's for all of my grandchildren as well. Raffi's simple yet interesting melodies and warm voice are like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter's day - comforting and delicious! Listening it to transports me to a time when my children were playing together and in the background was Raffi music and all was well in the world. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Here are some more Raffi titles, all recommended:Baby Beluga,Down By the Bay,[[ASIN:B0000003IO The Singable Songs Collection,Wheels on the Bus, (Raffi Songs to Read). Also enjoyed by my family: Sharon, Lois & Bram:Elephant Party
down by the bay.......2007-03-26
Down by the bay is a funny song and my teacher mrs. schneider has the whole song and the book and Really funny funny funny my mother say did you ever see a rhino kissing a dino down by the bay and really ever good
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.......2007-03-20
This album is amazing--still today. I "discovered" Raffi as a 30-something mother, and am thrilled. Some of the songs I knew from childhood, some are new to me, and all are completely delightful. Raffi's voice is warm and steady. The simple accompaniment is quiet at times, celebratory at others, and never obtrusive.
The album is a treasure. We keep it going (in addition to Susie Tallman volumes and Jack Johnson's soundtrack to Curious George) as a daily soundtrack.
My daughter (8 months) starts to dance and hum the minute it begins to play. She has heard it since she was about 6 weeks old. I love dancing with her and singing along as Raffi intunes, "The more we get together..." "Down by the Bay" is probably one of my daughter's favorites, and I love the sharing song.
