Great CD.......2007-01-15
Lifesong Live was a great Cd put out by a great band. It really felt like i was there.
Great Live Album - Great DVD.......2006-10-16
I was suprised at how good both the CD and DVD are. It would have been nice if the CD were longer, but it was great to hear the Casting Crowns live version of each of these familiar songs.
I thoroughly enjoyed the DVD concert. The editing was excellent and really gave the feeling of "being there"! I don't think there is more that can be done with a live video recording of any group.
The other thing that is noteworthy about the DVD is how well done the bonus material was. It gave a wonderful backstage look at one of today's most popular CCM groups. The humor, deep personal faith, strong family bond, and love of the local church is very apparent with each of the band members. This is a great collection for anyone who has been touched by the ministry and music of a wonderful Christian group!

Customer Reviews:
Why?.......2005-07-20
This release is an absolute absurdity. A "live" album is not something that should be released after only one previous album. The only plus would be the DVD that has the American Dream video, but that is only granted you like that song.
Don't purchase this CD. It is a marketing ploy, and nothing else.
Enjoyable DVD.......2005-07-13
Although there isn't much new music here, I enjoyed the DVD portion. The DVD has concert footage of five songs which are also on the original Casting Crowns CD. It also has a music video of 'American Dream'. There is one bonus track: "Beautiful Savior".
I enjoyed this, but buyers should be aware that there isn't much new here.
Wonderful Plus.......2005-04-26
This DVD/CD is well worth its price. The special features and live versions of their songs are a great addition to your worship music collection. This is more than just a repeat of the debut CD. The DVD reveals the real purpose for the group called Casting Crowns. I won't give away the secret. You will have to find out.
Great Music, but Little New for Fans.......2004-09-25
To celebrate the release of their major label debut, Casting Crowns did a concert in Atlanta. This two disc set preserves that concert for all their fans.
Disc 1 features the soundtrack. It presents 5 songs from their debut CD including "If We are the Body," "Voice of Truth," "Who Am I?" "American Dream," and "Here I Go Again." As a bonus, it includes a cover of the worship chorus "Beautiful Savior."
Disc 2 is a DVD of the concert with the same 5 songs. It also has some bonus features including the "American Dream" music video and interviews with members of the group.
I absolutely love this group. Their debut CD was one of my favorite CD's from last year and still gets played quite regularly almost a year later. So my complaint with this CD has nothing to do with the music. Normally a Live CD is released after several studio projects have been done. This gives is some value as it puts songs together that were not on the same disc before. In reality, there is very little new content here to justify the price, even with it being cheaper then a new CD normally is.
Fans will have to determine for themselves if this disc is worth buying. Those who love and watch concert videos will certainly want to get it. If you're new to the group, get their self-titled CD. It's got these songs and more. Trust me, it will be money well spent.

Phenomenal.......2006-11-10
I loved this CD! It was uplifting, inspirational, and anointing. I highly recommend it to everyone.
New Album.......2005-03-10
I enjoyed this album. Commissioned is a very anointed and talented group. Seeing them together was great. I know the members are doing their own things now, but I hope they are not done as a group. I would to see another album with brand new songs from Commissioned soon, perhaps sometime in 2005 since it is their 20th anniversary.
AWESOME!!!! JUST AWESOME .......2004-10-23
I have loved Commissioned for years and then I love Fred and Marvin as well but together my God. It was powerful, anoited, so true to the character of these men. They show the growth and maturity in Christ in this live session. You could feel all they had been through to get here and let GOD use this. YOU want to just worship until you loose your mind while listening to some of the worship. You here the melody and the blend and want to slap someone because it is mind blowing that after all the years they are even better!...THIS IS WORTH THE INVESTMENT. I promise you will enjoy from beg to end.
Even Jesus went to His feet on this one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2004-03-16
I know heaven had a party as this album was recorded, God was pleased, The Lord's name was truly praised. What anointed, appointed brothas in the Gospel! I will be elated till they reunite AGAIN, i've seen all the big names in Gospel live and on video, this one is by far Unsurpassed!
Astounding..........2004-01-22
Ok, so I grew up on gospel but I never listened to a lot of Commissioned. I knew a few of their songs, and I loved them all, but for whatever reason I never bought their music unless it was on a compilation album. Growing up, the Winans were always in heavy rotation, and so I never really experimented with Commissioned. However, I went to the store and saw this one and John P. Kee. This one had 29 songs on it and John P. Kee only had like 11. So I bought it figuring I came out better this way.
The anointing, the anointing, the anointing!!! My heart has been seriously ministered to. God was all up in that place!!! I saw the video and I plan to buy the CD. But even for those who are not believers, musically this is a wonderful project. IT IS AN OUTSTANDING WORK OF ART! I love live music and I usually prefer live music over studio, but this blew my mind!!! My roommate, who at one point hated gospel music, is now a convert after we watched this together. The musicians are amazing, the backup singers (RFC), and the harmonies make you wanna slap the person sitting next to you because it is just astonishing that something could sound so good. I admit, at times, the vocals are a little tired, but you have to take into account that they performed 29 songs! Beautiful. Everyone held their own and I just couldn't get enough. My only complaint is that they only did a little bit of Love Isn't Love and that they didn't do Crucified With Christ. Other than that, for gospel music lovers, your love will grow and for those who don't like gospel, you'll think again when you criticize. I had to thank God for this video.

Amazon.com essential recording
This is the one, the album Michael W. Smith has always wanted to make. Put simply, Live the Life is a masterpiece. The Christian music star has finally meshed his impressive songwriting skills and limited but effective singing with a tasteful producer's ear. The anthemic "Missing Person" sets the tone: Smith is playing for keeps. Guitars, not keyboards, play a large role on this release, as evidenced by Smith's cowriting with the vastly underrated Brent Bourgeois on "Live the Life," "Don't Give Up," and "Matter of Time." On the rest, Smith shares songwriting duties with master musician Wayne Kirkpatrick. Each number carries a depth unparalleled and showcases Smith's maturation. Fast, slow, happy, sad, quiet, and loud: you have it all on Live the Life. --Michael Lyttle
Customer Reviews:
Genious!.......2007-01-10
Since my years in Junior High, Michael W. Smith's music has been a large part of the soundtrack of my life. His music speaks to me in volumes. I played his music during the loss of my brother, and I play his music to my two toddler girls. He ranges from fast-paced, upbeat fun, to mellow, soothe-the-soul inspiration. No matter what, all his music is a devotion to Christ and a heartfelt dedication to our Lord. Michael W. Smith's music has been part of my "record" collection for over half my life... and will be through to the end. My thanks and genuine gratitude to Michael and his family, for walking with us in our faith to our Lord, and for sharing such inspirational talent during such worrisome years on this Earth. Thank You, Michael W. Smith... and Thank You, Christ Jesus.
Definitely one of Smitty's better efforts.......2005-04-29
I love this album! The opener "Missing Person" is the best opening for a Michael W. Smith album I've ever heard (with the possible exception of "Sonata in D Major" from the album PROJECT, but that was less than a minute and completely instrumental, so I don't think that counts). But the best song on here is "Never Been Unloved", penned by Wayne Kirkpatrick. It's a gentle and simple ballad that reminds us (sometimes very explicitly) of just how much God loves us and how unlovely we are.
LIVE THE LIFE is not like THE BIG PICTURE or any of Smitty's other "edgier" sounding albums. With the exceptions of "Missing Person", "Love Me Good" (the only cheesy song on the album), and "Don't Give Up", it's all very mellow music. Sometimes, it gets so soft it almost loses the listener. But it's nice to have a break from the harsh RNR sounds every once in a while, and this CD provides an excellent alternative.
Thumbs Up!.......2005-03-05
This album really showcases Michael's lyrical, instrumental, and vocal abilities well, and it is very uplifting! "Missing Person" is a soul-searching song I think we all can identify with, and my favourite on this CD. I like all of the songs on here, but other highlights are "Never Been Unloved" (the sweet and simple truth we all need to hear!), "I Know Your Name" (another reminder of God's loving care), and "Song for Rich" (for all you Scottish/Irish pipes fans out there!) The only drawback on this CD is that God's name is only mentioned a couple of times, and two of the songs are love songs ("A Matter of Time" and "In My Arms Again"), though those tracks are beautiful. Also, "Let Me Show You the Way" is one of my absolute favourites, and it is about friendship, but can be taken in another way. If you don't mind "Christian love songs" and so forth, though, you are guaranteed to enjoy this album! Soothing and inspiring!
Mediocre Album Inspires Man To Write Mediocre Review.......2005-02-25
Discarded titles include "Christian Rock is an Oxymoron" and "Could God Record An Album So Awful That Even He Couldn't Listen To It?"
Much like the rhetorical question just mentioned, this album has left me very much confused. How can my perception be so far off from what everyone else is saying?
Did the record company put the wrong CD in the wrong case by mistake? I read the reviews and I bought the album. I was expecting Christian Rock ecstasy. What I heard was so bad I was actually embarrassed for MWS.
The Amazon reviewer writes: "this album is the one." I, on the other hand, would be hard-pressed to name "one" good song on this album. Is there some profound hidden meaning behind the goofy lyrics of "Love Me Good?" ("On a diet of Mongolian barbecue I conquer the world for a moment / Then the moment is gone")
Which songs are the good ones? Is one of them the Backstreet Boy-ish "Matter of Time?" Should I think that it is a good thing that "Hello-Goodbye" sounds (quite disturbingly) like Enya. And what album wouldn't be complete without a song featuring bagpipes ("Song For Rich")?
Don't fall under the illusion that just because this is a half-way decent effort FOR A CHRISTIAN ROCK ALBUM that it is in any way lyrically or musically inventive. If you are considering buying this album, you would do well to save your money.
Lastly, for those of you who bought the album and did not like it: take heart, you are not alone.
Live The Life Review.......2004-02-18
This cd is one of my favorite ones that Michael W. Smith has released. I find a lot of the songs to be insightful, heart-felt, moving, and the level of emotional content on here is absolutely amazing. Listening to it, I can tell that a lot of work and thought was put into these songs. Anyone struggling with issues of faith, finding yourself, loss, anonymity, or uncertainty will probably get something out of this if they really listen. The songs I Know Your Name, Missing Person, and Hello Goodbye are my favorites, but I like the whole cd. If you want a good love song, there are a couple of them there too. If a good cry is more what you're after, Hello, Goodbye will certainly provide that, at least it did for me as it dealt with the loss of a child. Overall, I'm really glad I bought this. I have owned it for a long time, listened to it for a long time, would probably have worn it out if it had been a tape or if you could do such a thing to a cd. I find that each time I've listened to it I can draw out something new. If you are considering purchasing this, I hope you will be as inspired by it as I am.

He misses his Mark all togther on this one.......2006-06-16
This was not Micheal Smith at his best I give 2 stars. George Bretz.
Awesome perfomance.......2003-01-24
This a very good concert. The only thing I don't like about it is that the guitar needs to louder. Other than that, this is one of my favorite CDs. It's cool to hear the original studio versions of these songs and then listen to the live versions. Some the songs if not all, are played differently than the studio versions. Which is an awesome thing to do live. Plus there are two great songs ( Nothing but the blood and I know)on here that are not on any Michael W. Smith CD.
Live Set (LIVE) - Michael W. Smith.......2002-08-18
I am a fan of Michael W. Smith and enjoy most of the music he has written. However, this album I found to be too loud and some of the words of the songs are hard to hear. I have severeral albums by him and his album "Lead You Home" is a truly remarkable CD of a gifted songwriter/singer.
Awesome concert!!!!.......2001-03-06
I was at the concert from this tour and this album expresses the energy and fun of that time period. One of my top 10 albums!!! When I'm down this is the one I pick up to get me happy again. Just close your eyes and pretend you are at an incredible concert. Enjoy!!!!!!
Extraordinarily poor recording.......2001-01-11
I've been a MWS fan since about 1988, and there really isn't a song by him that I do not like. In fact, to this day, he remains my all-time favority male contemporary Christian soloist. I've seen him twice in concert at Creationfest West and thoroughly enjoyed his live performances, but this CD is awful. It in no way captures the energy and talent that this guy has--the recording quality is absolutely abysmal, sounding as if it were recorded by some concertgoer in the crowd who smuggled in an old tape recorder (or an answering machine, for that matter).
If you want to know what MWS is like in concert--go to one--he's extremely entertaining and a wonderfully talented artist...just stay away from this CD. I hate to rain on the little parade of 5-star reviews here, but if you have anything more than a cheap boom box on which to listen to this CD, you'll likely regret your purchase (I've listened to my copy twice and can't bear to pull it out and listen to it again). Stick with his legitimate studio recordings and you won't be sorry.

Genuine, sincere worship, is found throughout this double CD album. Live Gospel Music has never been better and the variety of styles, only adds to my appreciation of it. "Ain't It Sweet" is a marvelous song of hope for those looking for a reunion with loved ones. It will inspire your heart, while moistening your eyes!! The entire album is one of my favorites!!!
