Monsoon Wedding is Mychael Danna's second collaboration with film director Mira Nair, (Kama Sutra was the first), and he has again compiled a winning soundtrack. Danna explores a wide range of emotions, from solemn to celebratory, through different generations of Indian culture. The contemplative "Good Indian Girls" and "Hold Me, I'm Falling" feature Danna's trademark piano ambience over traditional Indian instrumentation, and the vivacious "Baraat" sounds like a Punjabi variation on Dixieland, while "Delhi.com" ventures into dreamy ethno-techno territory. Sukhwinder Singh's "Today My Heart Desires" serves up lively bhangra rock, and Laxmikant Pyarelal's "Today the Weather Plays Tricks on Me" (performed by Mohammed Rafi) swoons with strings and male vocals. In all, the soundtrack's pleasing variety of Eastern music mirrors the film's old and new worlds living within a singular culture. --Bryan Reesman

Monsoon Wedding Soundtrack is Terrific.......2007-05-18
I really enjoyed the movie and was pleased to find the soundtrack. Great cd if you're a fan of Bollywood!
Loved it!.......2007-03-24
I just saw the movie MONSOON WEDDING and I absolutely loved it! Of course, I just HAD to have the soundtrack, so I bought the Cd recently and loved it too! WOW!
The Cd will leave you in a happy mood... Wonderful up-beat songs, many are so danceable and hipnotic. I've been playing this Cd all week ...I just wish it were longer because I would love to have more Cds like this in my Cd collection.
Just as fabulous as the movie!.......2007-01-31
This is an excellent soundtrack from an excellent movie. The music is fantastic - makes you want get up and move your feet! It's got such a happy, wistful, exotic flavor throughout the CD. I think this will probably be one that I wear out from listening to it so much!
Love It, Love It, Love It.......2007-01-21
I just love this CD. I'm preferential to the work of Mychael Danna and this is another awesome work of his. There is everything from old Indian love ballads to the popular Bollywood music of today, with some very beautiful instrumentals in between.
I'd recommend seeing the movie too. As well, I'd check out Danna's music for another Mira Nair movie, "Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love."
Culture-Happy-Dance-Reflect-Appreciate-Savor-Relax-Laugh.......2006-11-06
Above I listed some words that first came to mind when I thought about this cd.
It is very Culture rich and soaked in Indian flavor. It's colorful and makes you happy with a laugh or two; as it seeks to portray the traditional music typical of a Punjabi wedding in Delhi, India.
You want to dance with most songs and sit quietly to reflect with others. I listed appreciate because we often don't sit back to appreciate the richness that other cultures provide. My 2 year old appreciates this music in her broken wanna be Hindi mimic.
She dances as does my 6 year old to this music. It's really a great CD but I would recommend seeing the movie first.

deb2rogerblessedone it's 5 stars!! (I hit the wrong button).......2006-12-22
This CD as the young folks would say "IS THE BOMB"! I previously had "Feels Like Rain" on cassette tape and I lost it. I had ordered the CD and to hear these songs are really spirit-filled and annointed. My favorites are " Don't Lose Your Candlestick" "In Your Will" " Yet Will I Trust In Him" and "Victory's Coming". These brothers are truly talented. I'm curious about Issac. Did he used to sing with John P. Kee & The Community Choir? If anyone knows, please tell me. The song that moves me most is " Don't Lose Your Candlestick". Every time I hear that song, I have to hold back my tears because I have a son who has turned his back on God and when I hear "Don't Lose Your Candlestick", I think of my son. Brian Pierce did an outstanding job on this one. " Victory's Coming" makes you wanna dance " Victory's coming and it won't be long, no more sad stories or even a sad song, hold on my brother a change is on the way, victory's coming and it won't be late". I love hearing Issac, Lowell & Brian sing this one. I'm a Men of Standard fan and out of all their CD's, " Feels Like Rain" will always be my favorite. I was sad to hear that Michael Bacon is no longer in the group and I know that Issac Carree, Lowell Pye & Brian Pierce will continue. I love this CD and I play it all the time! I wear out " Victory's Coming" & " Don't Lose Your Candlestick" along with " Yet Will I Trust In Him". Lowell Pye does an excellent job on this one. God bless you my brothers, continue to use your talent for the Lord.
Their best CD yet.......2005-04-14
I knew Men of Standard had nice songs but this CD impressed me. It was simply the bomb. I enjoyed the whole CD, which is a rarity. All the songs were very enjoyable, but two was my favorite; Don't Lose Your Candlestick and Let It Rain. If you really like contemporary gospel I recommend this CD; It reminds me so much of Commissioned. The fact that Fred Hammond and J Moss helped produce this CD made it stand out. I enjoyed this CD so much, I don't mind listening to it over again, that's how good it is.
Even better than the 1st...these guys are truly talented!!!.......2004-10-20
After putting out an impressive debut album, they put it down once again with this effort, sounding better and having a more mature sound than the 1st. Tho' it could be attributed to the work done by Fred Hammond and J. Moss on "Lord, You're Everything", "Feels Like Rain", "My Love For You Will Go On", "Nothing Like Heaven", and "God Take Care Of Me", the two most anointed songs on this LP are none of the above. My favourites are "In Your Will", and the heart-felt "Yet Will I Trust In Him". The latter song really, really touched my spirit and my soul, having the same effect that "Anointed Song" had from their 1st album. The best songs in gospel music are the ones that are taken right out of scripture, and this one is no different. Excellent! Other notables are "Lord, You're Everything", "Feels Like Rain", and "Don't Lose Your Candlestick". Overall, better than the 1st, but every bit as anointed.
Let it shower, feels like rain!.......2003-11-01
Men of Standard's second album is off da hook. It's one of the best gospel records out there. With PAJAM, Fred Hammond and Marcus Devine in the Producer's Chair the album's sound is a melody of Ballads, R&B, Rap, Soul and Traditional Gospel. Songs which may lift your soul are "In Your Will" and the Fred Hammond produced "Lord You're Everything" I must say I love the songs that J. Moss wrote, "Nothing Like Heaven" "God Take Care Of Me" and "Feels Like Rain" He also shared his talents of rapping and singing on this album which made the album extra special. If you a slow person you might like most of the album but if you want something hip listen to the glorious "Victory's Coming" which has two versions on here (Original, Skate Mix). There's also the Fred Hammond produced "My Love For You Will Go On" which is the message that God is giving to you and what should be giving Him. Amazing, wonderful, soulful, uplifting and an album of talent is all showcased on this one. Well done to Men of Standard for the second time around!
highly anointed.......2001-06-28
This is what gospel listeners have been waiting for!, funky music blended with adlibs that touch your heart and soul. Tere was a time that i was to lead people in our church into a session of worship and i was feeling low. I put on the tape " feel like rain " and the song "staying in your will" lifted my spirit, and since that day whenever i feel low that song lifts me up. Keep the fire MEN OF STANDARD!!!! and may God keeo lifting you up in this arena of gospel music.

Some Kind Of Wonderful.......2005-04-09
Feels Like Rain was my introduction to Buddy Guy, and what a fine introduction it is! Altho some blues purists will complain that it isn't "pure" blues, and with it's all star cast, a sell-out, but I prefer to look at it as Buddy showing his versatility. From the Stevie Ray Vaughan-sque She's A Superstar, and Feels Like Rain (the smoldering and sensuous cover of the John Hiatt classic), to the red hot finale of Country Man, this to me is a much more consistant album than Damn Right. This CD proves that blues doesn't have to be confined to 12 bar covers of Elmore James and Robert Johnson. And since blues was conceived from slaves easing the pain of their confinement, isn't that what it's all about?
Pretty good, but not truly memorable.......2004-12-02
More of a mainstream rock record than Guy's first Silvertone album ("Damn Right I've Got The Blues"), and much more so than his third, "Feels Like Rain" is not where you go to listen to Buddy Guy the legendary blues guitarist.
In fact, this is some of Guy's least blues-oriented material...the only real blues tunes are Muddy Waters's "She's Nineteen Years Old" and John Mayall's "I Could Cry"; the rest of the album is dedicated to rock- and soul covers, blues-rock and pop-rock.
The production is rather slick and lacks muscle, and a little bit of grit would have been nice, but Guy himself comes off quite well. His guitar playing is not the best you'll ever hear from him, but his voice is excellent, strong and expressive, and while some of these covers are superflous at best, Guy's rendition of John Hiatt's "Feels Like Rain", Ray Charles' "Mary Ann", and the soul classic "Some Kind Of Wonderful" are really enjoyable (the latter is a duet featuring Paul Rodgers of Bad Company).
Bonnie Raitt guests on "Feels Like Rain", playing bell-clear slide guitar, and the band includes a great pianist, Bill Payne from Little Feat.
If you want to hear Buddy Guy play the blues, pick up "Buddy's Blues" from MCA/Chess, and Rhino's "The Very Best Of Buddy Guy". If you just want a regular feel-good rock record played by a number of better-than-average musicians, well, you'll probably like this just fine. After all, you can't keep a real professional down.
90% Chance of Rain.......2004-06-24
First off I love this CD and listen to it all the time. The only reason I gave this CD 4 stars is that this album is very Heavily produced and at times get a little to slickish for my liking. Listen to "Sufferin' Mind" to see what I mean. But still the production doesn't alter the fact that this is a good album.

Do you feel just a little bit weary and edgy? Maybe a little snappy? I heard it called "assertive" on television. Does your voice get a little bit hoarse on Saturday night? I mean assertive.
Well anyway you have to get Buddy, then.
Button Up the Hatch Baby.......2001-10-10
So this CD is one of Buddy's more 'commercially accessible' releases. It still smokes, and comes through clear as an electric rainbow. The song 'Feels Like Rain' is like a soothing Hendrix song, and the leads in 'Country Boy' will burn your friggin house down. Lots of wah-wah on some songs, pure clean string pluckin' on others.
So c'mon baby- button down your hatch and make love to me. 'Feels Like Rain' is gonna set America free. Let those bars and stars fly high in the sky with Buddy Guy!

ALBUM REVIEW: It took me a while before I could define what I thought about the Minneapolis-based band nova-adore....
The songs are fine, just unarresting. It is rock in its purest form mostly drums, bass and guitar. The song themes are much of the same mostly love, betrayal and heartache and it all goes together to form a benign unit....
The lyrics, however, are where nova-adore stand apart from being totally mundane. When I finally sat down and gave Adam Sandberg, Marcus Hall and Bjorn Sorenson a full listen, I was glad the lyrics were included in the CD insert. My favorite line: 'She was like a sip of wine from a friend who wouldn't mind...' from "Love Police."
"Piano song," however, is worth paying attention to. It's the last on the album and has everything and more that a song needs to stand out good lyrics, experimental vocals and music that is repetitive to the point of dreamy hypnosis rather than to the point of boredom.
Nova-adore must have known this song was something special too because they took their name from the lyrics. [Vanessa Moore]
