You Don't Know Doc! Coast To Coast Edition

Step aside, Regis Philbin--Bugs Bunny, that trivia-loving "wascally wabbit," is cashing in his carrots to take a crack at your job as quiz master. You Don't Know Doc!, an audio-only game show featuring Bugs as host, debuts with two discs, the Wise-Guy Edition and the Coast-to-Coast Edition. Coast-to-Coast, with its emphasis on travel and tourism, is the more focused of the pair. Here's how it works: Prior to round one, a hyper-enthusiastic goofball announcer and ACME spokesman invites listeners to "match your wits against our half-wits," who are contestants Pepé Le Pew ("the smell of romance from the south of France"), Tweety Bird, Yosemite Sam, Sylvester, and Daffy Duck ("an expert on the nation thanks to annual migration"). Then the think-a-thon begins. Over three rounds of Jeopardy-style questions, the panel of cartoon bumblers occasionally manage a correct answer or two, as when Pepé correctly posits that Atlantic City, "where zey crown zee Miss America," is the New Jersey resort town Monopoly's streets are named for. The characters mostly mangle the questions or get too clever and end up miffed, after being maligned by their smart-mouthed MC. Spaced between rounds are ACME ads, one for the Little Giant Anvil ("drop it off a cliff an it's roadrunner pancake time") and another for the Human Cannonball ("side effects may include the odor of gunpowder"), complete with the zany sound effects that put the zing in the classic cartoons. This album's burn factor may be relatively high--one spin, after all, leaves nothing left to be stumped by. It is, however, a sure bet for stamping out ants-in-the-pants episodes during long summer car trips. -- Tammy La Gorce

Truly a blast..if you're a Looney Tunes fan (or even if you've never heard them before) this cleverly written show-on-a-CD is a refreshing new take on all our classic favorites. I highly recommend it for car trips...it kept my family amused the whole ride.
