Mammals Eat Coconuts

About the Artist
After many years as a professional musician and entertainer, Bob Roden is a household word -- but only if you happen to live in his household. Today Bob divides his time between his family, his music production company (Arbitrary Music), his very independent record label (Pie Girl Records) and his business law practice. He is a very happy guy.

Album Description
Mammals Eat Coconuts is a collection of fun songs that are great for both kids and grownups. It includes a mixture of traditional children's songs (Polly Wolly Doodle), wacky favorites (The Purple People Eater), new original creations (Mammals Eat Coconuts) and songs that children just seem to like (California Here I Come). All have been arranged and produced with great care, or as Bob puts it, they have been "recorded with the respect they deserve."

In his many years as a songwriter and professional musician, Bob has always gravitated toward what he calls "happy music." Bouncy rhythms, catchy melodies and humorous subject matter have always been his stock in trade. With Mammals Eat Coconuts, Bob has brought this upbeat orientation to the world of children's music.

It is a natural fit. Bob says "When I finally focused on children's music I realized that much of what I had written over the years either fit right into the category or was very close to it. Children's music does not have to be simple and boring, and children's recordings do not have to be bland and uninteresting. Like any kind of music, it is as interesting as you make it. I had great fun making Mammals Eat Coconuts, and I hope that feeling will carry through to the kids and grownups who listen to it."

5 out of 5 stars Hallelujah .............2001-03-12

...... a kid's album even I (a musician and daddy) can enjoy! What a service! I have caught myself singing "Mamals Eat Coconuts...." outloud in certain settings that can be embarrassing -- but that's a small price to pay.

Get this one -- you'll dig it.

5 out of 5 stars What a great way to start the day!.......2001-03-02

At our house, we find that music is the key to our ability to shake ourselves up out of bed to greet the new day. Bod Roden's CD is my personal favorite choice for the day's first music. My husband, nine year old daughter, puppy dog and I start the day singing and dancing and goofing around to the sound of this happy -- and beautiful -- CD. Thank you!

5 out of 5 stars Entertaining for All Ages.......2001-03-01

My 7-year-old son obsesses over CDs. He'll find a favorite and play it over and over and over and...you get the picture. With this entertaining CD we have finally found something that amuses both mother and son, play after play after play. The songs are imaginatively crafted and aren't simplified to cater just to kids. My son loves "Purple People Eater" which my favorite remains "My Dog Spot." Bob's a bit of a nut, enjoy his humor and talent on this wonderful CD. I look forward to his next one.

5 out of 5 stars Insidiously Infectious.......2001-02-23

This CD is habit-forming! You'll find yourself listening to it (and singing along) over and over--even after you've put the kids to bed for the evening. Can't wait for Volume II!!

5 out of 5 stars What a Delightful CD!.......2001-02-23

Listening to "Mammals Eat Coconuts" brings a smile to my heart. I particularly enjoy Bob's original "Suddenly I Get Happy", not to mention several others he has written. Combining these with many old favorites makes a great CD for both children and adults.
