Editorial Reviews DON'T EAT THE WORMS, the third volume in the collection, includes such favorites as the title song, which tells a funny and true story; the 3 WAIT AND SEEs, which children can act out, with motions, to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Spring, and Thanksgiving; IT'S JANUARY and MAY MAY BE which allow children to add favorite things that happen in those months; I'M GOING TO THE CIRCUS, I LOVE MY DAD and SIGNS OF FALL, just waiting for children to insert their own ideas; and TAKE THESE NOTES THAT I GIVE YOU, which tells the tender true story of a 3-year-old's gift, to his song-writing grandma, of hand-drawn colorful "music notes" - "to help her to make a song!" All the songs on the CD are accompanied by acoustic guitar. This simple, uncluttered approach aims to draw the children into the language of the songs, allowing them to focus on the words. Parents, grandparents, teachers and therapists appreciate how effective these songs are in reaching and delighting children. Listeners of every age have shared their reactions: "So genuine, spontaneous, and tuned in to children" "Invites you to sing along" "The songs, in their simplicity, provide what is missing in children's music today" "Delightful! Like a new Burl Ives" "Instantly engages the children" "They work! All the songs work - we want more!" "A valuable complement to Early Childhood curriculum" "That lady really likes children (- A Kindergarten Child)" "It's like having your mother singing to you - in a way that I wish my mother could have sung to me." "So uplifting" "The Love and Joy shine right through" "The lady with the smile in her voice."

About the Artist
Ellen Stein, M.Ed., MT-BC, is an early childhood educator and board certified music therapist, who has spent more than 40 years working in both regular and special early childhood settings. Ellen serves as a music consultant to early childhood and special education programs and leads training workshops for classroom teachers, music therapists and music teachers. She is a frequent presenter at national, regional and state conferences. "FROM EVERYTHING - A SONG!", her collection of original songs, is an outgrowth of Ellen's many years as a nursery school and kindergarten teacher and as a music therapist. The songs have been thoroughly "child-tested", and have been used by teachers, therapists, and parents, with particular success in engaging children and stimulating language. Most of the songs were created right-on-the-spot, in response to something a child said or did; others fulfilled requests by teachers. Many of the songs offer children the opportunity to add their own words and ideas. Others tell simple stories or are just plain fun. Primarily for children ages 3-6, "FROM EVERYTHING - A SONG!" will also appeal to younger and older children, providing an enriching family listening and singing activity.
