About the Artist
A New Jersey native, Kathy has been performing for the public since childhood. She stood out in choral groups throughout grammar school, high school and college including the New Jersey All-State Chorus and the All-Eastern Division of the Music Educators National Conference.

As a college student, Kathy studied vocal performance, music theory and composition. At Penn State University, she began to sing and play guitar at various commercial venues.

"Round the Campfire" is a charming collection of favorite folk songs. Kathy Byers, accompanied by delightful children's voices, has arranged each song in a catchy, very singable way. Her harmonies are terrific, especially on "I Love the Mountains." The rhytms on "Kumbaya" are very memorable. Parents and their children are sure to enjoy "Round the Campfire."

I have never been so displeased with an item I bought from Amazon.com. The singer has absolutely no tonal quality to her voice and the rendition of the songs belongs in the garbage pail. I hope that no one will be enticed into buying this album. These are the worst renditions of these songs I have ever heard over the past 50 years I have been involved with campfire songs.

Great for singing along!.......2004-10-23

My three children (ages 7,5, and 3)and I love this CD!The songs are so much fun to sing along with. We always have it on in the car. Kathy has such a soothing quality to her voice, and the tunes are so "catchy" that you just can't help but sing! Several of the songs are old favorites like This Land is Your Land (my daughter Ingrid's favorite) and If I Had A Hammer. There are also some songs that are new to me. We just can't say enough about our favorite childrens' artist Kathy Byer. This CD is such a great next step after her previous release Do You Wish You Could Fly, which we also love. 'Round the Campfire seems to be geared to a slightly older audience, which is perfect for my 7 year old who considers herself too old for kids' tapes but enjoys Girl Scout sing-a-longs. Oh, and we all love The Littlest Worm!

The whimsical songs in Kathy's new CD will bring back parent's fond memories of campfires and s'mores, and will create warm memories for their kids. Kathy's voice and sing-along melodies make this CD a keeper for years to come.

great for kids, good for parents .......2004-10-19

This is a great album of mostly familiar songs that will bring back membories for almost everyone. Kathy's clear, pretty voice brings out the best in the songs and her enthusiasm is obvious in them. If a singer of children's can manage to entertain the kids and at the same time not bore the parents, it is a success. And this album does that.
