Pop has a good time eating itself on this collection of Doctor Demento favorites. The tunes on this stylistically varied double CD send up a plethora of pop culture phenomena. The perpetrators come from every imaginable entertainment background. Pro wrestlers, folk singers, comedians, actors, garage bands--you never know who's liable to produce a novelty song. Here it doesn't matter if a respected composer or a one-hit wonder recorded the ditty; all sorts of tracks jostle each other on this funny collection. The material covers quite a time span, ranging from Spike Jones's "Der Fuehrer's Face," released in 1942, to "Wappin'," an unreleased track by Darrell Hammond and Christopher Snell which was a hit on Demento's radio show at the tail end of the 1980s. The 20th Anniversary Collection is quite an assortment of the corny, goofy, wacky, and wild. --Fred Cisterna

Why Does Music Have To Be So Seroius?.......2007-06-27
This album is just plain fun. It's great to have a nice collection of novelty songs to sprinkle in during a party or when making compilation discs for long drives or just and evening of fun with some friends.
Dr. Demento's collection surely won't be one of those precious "desert island" albums, those must have albums one would never be caught without, but in the context of a complete collection, it's good to have a few laughs here and there.
You'd really have to be a baby-boomer to appreciate the full context of this album as many are from the before the 1970's, still have some fun, why not?
Lots of fun.......2007-06-27
My son suggested this as a birthday gift to his older sister, from him to her - I think I've listened to it more than either of them.
Perfect.......2007-05-19
I've been looking for some of these songs for a loooong time. Not only do I get to relive my adolescence, but I'm able to introduce my daughter (who shares my sense of humor) to some of my old favorites (G rated, of course)
A "Must-Have" For Dr. Demento Lovers.......2007-04-20
Unbeknownst to my conservative mother, my brother and I (born in the late 60's) listened to a wonderful radio program called "Dr. Demento" growing up. I told my mother about that recently, and her remark was that if she had known it was on the radio, she wouldn't have let us listen to it! LOL Anyhow, this collection has the vast majority of MY old favorites, such as the otherwise unavailable "Existential Blues", and many others unfamiliar to me to enjoy. It comes in two CD's of 18 songs each. I have happily imported it into my iPod and can't wait to hear everything!
The funniest CDs ever!.......2007-03-08
I used to have this CD collection back in college, and something recently reminded me of a song and I knew exactly where to buy it. I am very pleased with this collection of songs.

Just What the Doctor Ordered........2004-04-23
Several years ago there used to be an affiliate of the now-defunked children's radio group known as Radio Ahhs! (Radio Ahhs! no longer exists because of the Walt Disney Company). Anyway, the local affiliate in the St. Louis area used to play some of the coolest music around. Just about everyone I knew from my younger siblings to high school students and our parents listened to the station from time to time because of the original and highly entertaining music. Some of the songs I remember hearing from those times are on this album and I know now that a lot of the music they played originated from Dr. Demento. Some of my favorites on the album include:
"Yoda"
"Fish Heads"
"Bulbuous Bouffant"
"Hellow Mudduh, Hello Fadduh (A Letter From Camp)"
"Star Trekkin'"
"Ti Kwan Leep/Boot to the Head"
"Marvin, I Love You"
"They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!"
"Bulbous Bouffant" and "Ti Kwan Leep/Boot to the Head" aren't really songs but are comedy sketches that are just as entertaining as anything done by Monty Python. "Fish Heads" is one of the songs I remember from Radio Ahhs! and in reading the liner notes that are included with the disc, I found out that Bill Muny from LOST IN SPACE fame is one of the two members of the group that sings "Fish Heads". Dr. Demento is largely responsible for Wierd Al Yankovic even having a career, but it's nice to see that on this album the only song by Wierd Al is "Yoda". However, Wierd Al also wrote the introduction to the liner booklet. "The Smoke Off" by Shel Silverstein is probably the most offensive song on the cd because of the cursing and the subject matter (it's about a pot smoking competition). There are a couple other tunes that verge on the edge of vulgarity, but "The Smoke Off" is really the only one that crosses the line.
Overall, this is a good album for anyone looking for some truly original music to own. It's also a good way to introduce people to dementia music and the crazy world of Dr. Demento.
Marvin, I LOVE you!.......2001-05-27
This is a very nice collection of some of Dr. Demento's best hits on his radio show. I actually have many, many other Dr. Demento albums and so when I bought this most of them were repeats for me, but it was all worth it for the song "Marvin, I Love You" by Marvin the Paranoid Android, which makes its first appearance on CD ever right here! This is a very sweet song and listening to it will make you almost want to cry for the poor robot. It's also nice to hear Dr. Demento himself getting in on the act in his rendition of "Shaving Cream." "Posioning Pigeons..." is one of Tom Lehrer's best, I just love his voice! "Bulbous Bouffant" and "Ti Kwan Leep" have musical qualities to them, but they're more comedy sketches than songs. "Fish Heads", "Hello Muddah...", and "They're Coming..." are great classics. I'm also glad that Dr. D. decided to only put one Weird Al song ("Yoda") on here as well, because he usually tends to overdo his compiliation albums with too many Al songs. I mean, Al's a great singer (I have all his ALbums), but leave room for other talented people! Be warned though, some songs are mildly offensive. Other than the obvious ("Posioning Pigeons...", "My Dead Dog Rover", and "Dead Puppies") one of the tracks features Shel Silverstein (and yes, I mean that late, great children's author) using many swear words (including the "f" word, but that one is bleeped out), "Shaving Cream" just fools you into thinking it's going to cuss, and "The Scotsman" jokes about what ISN'T present underneath those kilts. And finally, if you plan on collecting ALL of the other Demento albums (on CD's), then you should know that the only ones that aren't repeats are: "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow", "Nanook Rubs It", "Marvin, I Love You", "The Smoke Off", and this special version of "Shaving Cream." But, if you're like me, then it's still worth it.
Laughter is indeed the best medicine.......2001-05-13
Most of the songs on this compilation I have on the three retrospective collections that Rhino put out in 1991,1995,& 2000 respectively-I'm glad that Frank Zappa's "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow" & Shel Silverstein's "Smoke Off" are included on this disc-They are classic bits-The weakest track on this collection:Dr.Demento's desecration of "Shaving Cream"-Otherwise,I recommend it for lovers of novelty music everywhere.
Life, don't talk to me about life!.......2001-03-05
Is this where a fine English actor (Stephen Moore) should end - not deceased but alive and healthy as far as I know. As there are probably a few people who are wondering what the heck I am wittering on about, he is the voice of Marvin The Paranoid Android who has managed to get on to this collection - and not the best Marvin song either on the two singles I know about.
As to the album itself - get the anniversary editions - far more warped (demented), and there are only two or three extra tracks that are not on these, so myself, I would not buy this, however it looks like a great start for anyone who may be in need a decent fix of brain surgery from the Doctor - it is only your mind you have to lose!!
Silly Songs for Kids and their Parents.......2001-02-20
We absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Demento!! This compilation is A plus. I used to listen to Dr. Demento in high school on a local Los Angeles radio station on Sunday nights, I never missed it. We bought this and other Dr. Demento collections for our 5 yr. old (who has an amazingly black sense of humor) and we put it on and clean the house and dance and sing the songs. We especially love the sick, twisted humor of "Hamster Love", "THe Tennessee Birdwalk" and "Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road". Our absolute favorite is "Bulbous Bouffant" by the Vestibules, our son actually took the CD to his teacher: after writing down the wordsin the song, she used them for a spelling test!!! (he's in a highly gifted program) SHe thought it was a HOOT!!!!! An absolute MUST to cheer you and put you in a good mood, if you're life is as hectic and stressed as mine is with 2 small kids. Just don't tell your parents, they might not approve!!!!!!!!

When your life's work is collecting the most absurd and goofy tunes ever recorded, the phrase "life's work" takes on an entirely less menacing tone. For Dr. Demento, "work" entails rounding up Daffy Duck's finest-ever performance, a Monty Python ditty, a few Weird Al Yankovic tunes, and a number of other nutty classics in an uninhibited tribute to absurdity. While most of the material here is parody or novelty tunes, some of the set's funniest moments are the straight comedy pieces: George Carlin on food abandoned in the fridge, Cheech & Chong at the beach, and the hilariously absurd Vestibules doing "Bulbous Bouffant." While certainly not something designed for repeated listening, you never know when you'll have the unbearable urge to hear "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini." --S. Duda
Customer Reviews:
thanks.......2007-05-14
Arrived on time, the item had crack along the back of its case, but probably shipping is to blame for that- thanks
Very Funny.......2007-02-07
I was a fan of Dr. Demento as a kid. This CD features many of the hits I loved from long ago. It was great to hear those funny songs again. Nothing today can compare with some of this stuff.
Fine, Funny Stuff.......2007-01-25
This is an absolutely wonderful collection of comedy routines, parodies of well-known songs, and some rather odd songs that became hits, e.g., "Itsy-Bitsy Teenie-Weenie Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini", "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport". Mostly, it's just great fun.
My favorites here include "Bulbous Bouffant", "Bras on 45", and "Daffy Duck's Rhapsody", but there's great stuff here for anybody with truly twisted tastes, or just a sense of humor.
dementoid must have.......2006-02-26
great mix of odd-ball tunes; must-have for demento show fans; great music for people who enjoy music removed from the mainstream.
Wind Up Dementions and Dementites.......2005-08-31
I never knew what that meant but I heard it faithfully every Sunday night in the late seventies. I haven't been thrilled with every Dr. D anniversary CD that has come out, and this one I purchased primarily for the Daffy Duck Rhapsody, which I was pining away for. But this one does have many treasures on it, not even necessarily introduced (to me) by Dr. Demento. Long ago, for instance, I lost my copy of the lp, "The Doughnut in Granny's Greenhouse" by the Bonzo Doo Dah Band, and though I may never get the rest of it back, at least I have "I'm the Urban Spaceman" now. "The Elements" takes me way back to when I was gonna get a degree in chemistry....what was I thinking....anyway, there are a couple of Weird Al gems, Jim Cross's incomparable satire of Dead Teenager ballads, "I Want My Baby Back"; Nat'l Lampoon's take on that awful, ubiqutous 1970s poem, "Desiderata" (theirs is "Deteriorata": You are a fluke of the universe/You have no right to be here).
These songs aren't just funny. Well, some of them are just funny. But there's some very witty satire here, as well. Enjoy.

Customer Reviews:
NOX ARCANA THE ULTIMATE MOODLIFTER.......2007-06-27
Theres not enough words to put down on what this group means to me....I wirte some of my best works by their music.
Vampire country.......2007-05-10
Books don't usually have soundtracks. "Dracula" definitely didn;t.
But when listening to Nox Arcana's "Transylvania," all I could think of was Bram Stoker's quintessential vampire, and the hauntingly creepy atmosphere of the book. The band forms plenty of rich neoclassical tunes, around a hazy storyline about (what else?) vampires.
It opens with a creepy organ, some smooth violins sweeping up from behind. A deep voice intones, "Darkness descends upon the land, wrap the world in night's black embrace... the restless dead stir within their ancient tombs, and creatures born of shadow rise to quench their savage hunger..." Imagine Bela Lugosi rising from a coffin.
It's followed up by some warmup songs -- the darkly enticing "Voyage," which expands out into an epic, eerie sweep, and the ghostly piano of "Gossamer Mist." The songs that follow are just as richly imagined -- ghostly fast-paced strings, magnificently dark organ and grim gypsy music, laced with church bells, shimmering vocals and ghostly little breezes.
Listening to "Transylvania" is like walking slowly through a cobwebbed, shadowy castle, and listening to Dracula playing a pipe organ in a dusty ballroom, with his brides singing accompaniment. It's not too hard to imagine that you're Jonathan Harker, after hearing songs like "Echoes From the Crypt."
Their music is an lush dusty tapesty of gothic instrumentation. Rich, hollow organ, shimmering harp, strings both windy and rapid, fast-moving percussion, a delicate piano, and some dark shimmers of keyboard all blend together into haunting slow-turning melodies. And as if that weren't good enough, they sprinkle the music with the flutter of bat wings, church bells, ghostly murmurs, and delicate music-box tinkles.
Fortunately Nox Arcana doesn't wreck all this eerie atmosphere with typical singing. Instead we get the occasional deep-voiced intonations, sort of like the introduction. And there are some delicate female vocals -- they murmur softly one minute, only to rise into echoing, wordless solos the next. It's absolutely stunning.
Nox Arcana's "Transylvania" does a brilliant job of capturing the ideal vampire-gothic atmosphere -- creepy and beautifully refined, with no kitschiness. The ideal soundtrack to Bram Stoker's classic (not to mention Halloween).
This soundtrack drains your blood dry, it's that awsome!.......2007-01-28
I have this one, its great. It's not only good for Halloween but its good for when you go to sleep at night, it actually puts you into another realm of dreams and nightmares. It helps you sleep and not only that, it gives you something to relax your body with. It's very good for one of those stormy and rainy or snowy nights. I am an artist and I use it to create monster theme pictures and other creepy drawings. It helps me put myself in that state of mind were I can listen to this and let my imagination flow. If you like this one you will really love the CARNIVAL OF LOST SOULS, WINTER KNIGHT. I still have to get the winter knight one. These soundtracks are classics, not that many peopl listen to them. They are for the soul purpose to escaping the real world and entering another of the bizzare and strange. They are just good to listen too, when ever you feel like it. But this is a good tool for some people who have trouble sleeping at night. But if you listen to the children of the night, and what lovely music they made, you will deffently get your money's worth on all 3 cd's Translyvania, Winter Knight, Carnival of lost Souls... It's worth it.
Wonderful Halloween Fare.......2006-11-01
You can hear a constant improvement in the musical quality of Nox Arcana's CD. This one, particularly, is a big step over Necronomicon. Not that Necronomicon is bad, but Transylvania is really good.
I'm glad I found Nox Arcana (quite by accident, I did a search for Halloween on Amazon and this was one of the hits) they are a treasure.
Yet another great album!.......2006-08-11
Nox Arcana is truly a original band for the era. The music is never boring and you always find something new when listening to it that you may not have heard before. Vargo is a very gifted artist in all the work he does and I for one am glad he formed his own band. The creative work behind the cd's really comes through not just in the music but in the album designs. Midnight Syndicate lost one of the most creative person's behind their success, but by starting the band Nox Arcana at least none of the fans are suffering. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next album.

They are the best at what they do and this CD is just one more example. You cannot go wrong with any Nox Arcana CD
A Stunning Debut!.......2007-04-17
Nox Arcana's debut CD Darklore Manor is a stunning, chilling instrumental concept album that could easily serve as the soundtrack for a classic haunted house film. Very few debut CDs have the amazing musicianship and technical virtuosity that Joseph Vargo and William Piotrowski exhibit on this album. There are unforgettable, elegant piano-dominated melodies like "Veil of Darkness," as well as sinister organ pieces, moody harpsichord songs and elaborate, stirring orchestral set pieces that demonstrate an instinctive mastery of composition and melody. The entire gamut of Gothic music is presented here, and woven throughout the CD's 21 tracks are ghostly sound effects, chilling choirs and eerie narrations, all of which contribute to a mesmerizing musical tapestry. The CD's highlight may be "The Forgotten" - a beautiful, moving piano elegy that you will never forget. Many musicians strive their whole careers for an album this accomplished. The beautifully designed CD booklet by Joseph Vargo and Christine Filipak is another delight - this is an album that shows a rare attention to detail, from the packaging to the mixing. Highly recommended.
Nox Arcana: The project that truly represents Halloween and for people who simply love classical-oriented Gothic instrumentals.......2007-04-09
I was told, by a mysterious voice in the night, that I should seek Nox Arcana and await further instructions. But it all began years ago with the discovery of the Midnight Syndicate. So, I did the obvious and entered "Midnight Syndicate" in my computer search engine, and the lone website introduced itself to me. All went dark and quiet, and the room got cold, and I could see my breath as I panted in fear, and I heard laughter amongst terrifying screams, but yet, I was alone. This was only my introduction to the Midnight Syndicate and soon to follow was the birth of something even better, the nightmareish apparitions of Nox Arcana. I was compelled to bring Nox Arcana into my world, and so I've been in the dark ever since. But, then again, it became a blissful absence from the norm. Although, Halloween is never really mentioned with any of the Nox Arcana CD's, it does seem that everyday is Halloween in my world, and for the past four years, I've always feared that I've sold my soul somehow. I believe that I sacrificed my soul the day I got out my credit card and asked the cyber spirits to bring my first Nox Arcana CD into my home. It was this CD: "Darklore Manor"
Something became different about me. My very presence wasn't acknowledged in any normal way anymore. Was I being ignored, or am I even in the room at all? Something just wasn't right. I've had days that I've stared into the mirror, but somehow, I wasn't there. When I speak to strangers in the street, I don't think that they even acknowledge me. I speak with just a small hiss of words, and people respond as if they've just been pushed by a cold wind. My loved ones speak of me, as if I've departed from this world, but yet, I am in the room. Only when I laugh, do people respond as if they've heard something. They cuddle together, in fear of their safety, and cry out my name, in a past tense, as if I am torturing them. This wasn't fun anymore. It wasn't fun, THEN, anyway.
I wander aimlessly, finally coming to terms with this apparition that I have become. My only consolation, deep into the night, is to take some of my Nox Arcana CD's and my mini-CD player, to the cemetery and lay against a tombstone, and watch the wind swirl up the leaves in a satanic dance before my eyes, while the music plays and eats away at my scruples of logic. I feel a cold embrace of many condemned angels who've cast off all their inhibitions and indulged in lustful passion upon my defenseless mortal flesh. I am consumed into their ritual with reckless abandon. Returning to reality is all nonsense now. My only fear, is that the batteries in my CD player will weaken and diminish this clash of passion of my psychological pleasure and terror.
I am so glad that Nox Arcana has entered my once typical, pop culture world. However, I feel now, that if I should ever die, I may not know the difference. I've been enjoying this nocturnal bliss for a couple of years now and there's no going back. I walk this world in a cold absence where I question if my presence is perceived at all.
If you'd like to share in this experience with me, start off with this CD of "Darklore Manor". Then get "Necronomicon", "Winter's Knight", "Transylvania", "Carnival of Lost Souls", and their latest (as of 2007) called "Blood of the Dragon".
This music is not heavy metal. It's not satanic music. It's just a mix of classically-influenced instrumentals with various snippets of dark poetry and ghastly effects. You'll hear tormented screams, deathly bell tolls, sinister laughter, grandfather clocks, howling winds, and other little clever effects with piano, organ, and harpsichord, supported by rich strings and a mellotron sound, that promote a uniquely beautiful, but yet, horrifying terror that may claim your soul. It's a small sacrifice for the sake of a dark happiness.
Alas, here's one more way that I have benefited from the music of Nox Arcana. By listening to these CD's through headphones at the cemetery, alone, late at night, in the cold dark, there is a terror that I've experienced that has actually helped me lose weight. To be so terrified that my heart pulsated so intensely that I feared my heart would just burst! That, and the accidental soiling of myself, helped me lose about three pounds. Who would have thought that terror could promote weight loss?
So, if it's dark and disturbing, it has a place in my heart.
A well-woven dark tale.......2007-02-22
Though a bit more specific and talky than the Midnight Syndicate CDs (which was my first venture into this kind of atmospheric music), I found Nox Arcana's Darklore Manor to be quite creepy. It tells a story of an house under a curse, and the strange happenings therein. While it leaves less to the imagination than Midnight Syndicate's 13th Hour, it has plenty of frightening tracks for your next horror gaming session or Halloween party.

Fun but a Little Disappointing.......2006-03-16
I liked this 2 CD set, but I think I overpaid. There are many cute older type tunes on the discs as well as some newer ones. I would say I liked about one in four songs. Do not buy this item just for one song!
SCHLOCK & ROLL!.......2005-10-26
The King of Kitsch, Kraziness and all things Kooky deftly rounds up an asylum-full of novelty nincompoops, just as on his long running weekly syndicated radio show. If you like this sort of thing (and who, short of the deceased, doesn't?), the spoils are almost embarrassingly endless here. Weird Al Yankovic (a Dr. Demento apprentice) jump-starts the fun with one of his best song titles (and parodies) ever, SMELLS LIKE NIRVANA. Then there's that timeless tribute to everyone's fave knucklehead, THE CURLY SHUFFLE...Trekkie wet dream HIGHLY ILLOGICAL from Leonard ("I am not...ahhh, the HELL with it! I really AM spock!") Nimoy, not to mention Bobby "Boris" Pickett's spot-on satire STAR DREK...TIMOTHY, The Buoys' macabre ode to cannibalism (penned by Rupert PINA COLADA SONG Holmes)...Brownsvile Station's twisted blues-clashes-with-sci-fi feast MARTIAN BOOGIE...Da Yoopers' hilarious stinker SECOND WEEK OF DEER CAMP...Meri Wilson's double entendre delight PETER THE METER READER...The Chips' original gobbledygook version of the Blues Brothers-associated RUBBER BISCUIT...even the rare as a porkpie hat SONG OF THE SEWER, courtesy one Art "Ed Norton" Carney, fer cryin' (laughin'?) out loud!!! Sicko oldtimers Tiny Tim, Spike Jones and Demento regular Benny Bell also share space with artists as diverse as folkie Christine Lavin and gross-out rockers Green Jelly, keeping the fun/pain threshold at an excrutiatingly high level. LISTEN WITH CAUTION!!! RATING: FIVE BELLY-LAUGHS
Laughing .......2005-07-19
The Doctor is back after 25 years of comedy records. He still is making us laugh as we go through life.
It's good, though!.......2005-02-04
This is the second of the Dr. Demento "Anniversary" compilations. There are less of the most famous novelty hits this time around, because most of them appeared on the first compilation. But there is no drop in quality, because even the lesser known tracks here are great. If you are a fan of mad music and crazy comedy, you should get this.
Good memories, but not kid-safe..........2003-06-04
Most of this stuff is pretty funny if you're 40, but some of it is not good for kids. I had forgotten what some of these lyrics were like and I bought this for my 10-year-old for his birthday. He is loving it while I am reminding him that he is NOT ALLOWED to sing along with some of the songs and he is certainly not allowed to play it for his Nanny (my mom-in-law). I am not referring to cute little ditties like Shaving Cream either (this is actually the cute little ditty reason I purchased this CD - I mention this so you'll know I'm not a prude). I am referring to a little sexual inuendo here and there and a few bad words that are actually present and not covered up by Shhhhh-aving Cream. Enjoy this if you are an adult who loves humor - I did - but don't buy it for your kids - MY BAD!!!

The title might be immodest, but it's accurate. Just about every holiday song parody and comedy sketch you can imagine is jimmied onto this hilarious, sprawling collection. While you'll find a smattering of well-known Christmas wackiness (including "Grandma Got Run over by a Reindeer" and the Singing Dogs' "Jingle Bells"), the Doctor's specialty is unearthing the obscure, such as Wild Man Fischer's weirder-than-weird "I Am a Christmas Tree." You'll never listen to "The 12 Days of Christmas" quite the same way after hearing the spins put on the tale by both Allan Sherman and Bob and Doug McKenzie, and you're likely to check your Christmas cookie for "special ingredients" after hearing Cheech & Chong's "Santa Claus and His Old Lady." --David Sprague

A family favorite.......2007-04-01
This CD is a family favorite. My kids love to sing along to it, particulary the Hippopotamus song (which is very difficult to find). Although I originally bought this CD for that one song, we have found the entire disk highly enjoyable.

I was looking for the original version of the song, "I want a Hippopatamus for Christmas." This CD is wonderful! There were even a few surprises that we enjoyed!

The Final Frontier.......2003-05-30
This is a Dr. Demento compilation featuring cuts with an outer space theme. With only twelve tracks, it's a bit on the short side. They could easily have fit half a dozen other cuts on it. Off the top of my head, I can name "The Flying Saucer", "The Martian Hop", "Martian Boogie", "Kirk and Spock", "Star Wars Cantina" and "Yoda" as tracks that could have been included. But I will judge the CD based on what it is, not what it could have been. First off, let me advise you not to get this CD if you are not interested in Star Trek, because over half the tracks have a Star Trek theme. "Beam Me Up, Scotty" is a slight, but fun, song based on the misquoted Star Trek catch phrase. "Star Trekkin'" is the funniest song ever written about Star Trek. "The Saga Begins" is a great parody by "Weird Al" that sets the plot of "Star Wars: Episode One" to the tune of "American Pie". "Star Drek" is a classic skit parodying Star Trek that will be familiar to regular listeners of the Dr. Demento Show. "Do the Picard" is a terrific song about Star Trek: The Next Generation. "Carmen Miranda's Ghost" is a strange, but fun, song about a space station being haunted by, yes, Carmen Miranda's ghost. "They're Here" is a decent song about alien invaders that has a similar arrangement to "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!". In the corny "Twinkle Twinkle Little Earth", Mr. Spock says a few words about the stars. I didn't care much for "Banned From Argo", which is about shore leave. In the great "The Ballad of William Robinson", the now middle aged Will Robinson of "Lost in Space" updates us on his life. "What's Up Spock" is an okay parody of the rap song "What's Up Doc?". "Star Trip" covers similar ground as "Star Drek", but it's twice as long and half as funny.
Dr. Demento has another hit.......2003-03-16
Another fine collection from Dr. D. It's been awhile since the good Dr. has put out a CD but this one is worth the wait. My favorite is "Do The Picard" by Rusty Humphries and the Boneheads, a true classic. Humphries also has a CD out called "Bomb Iraq". You couldn't do better than a double whammy of this CD and Rusty Humphries.

A "corny" sampling of silly selections from the sticks recorded from the late '50s to the early '90s. Hinterland hilarity, better than anything this side of moonshine!
Customer Reviews:

great mix of odd-ball tunes; must-have for demento show fans; great music for people who enjoy music removed from the mainstream.
A Twangy Review..........2004-04-22
The CD is fabulous, but only if you like the type of music it has. It has some 'twangy' old country, and spoofs of a few "newer" country. A few songs are about beer, which is always good. If you appreciate the Dr. then you should appreciate this collection.
Ooooooh...that's corny!.......2003-05-28
Dr. Demento has compiled a CD of funny country songs. Most of theses songs are very funny. "I'm a Nut" is a hilarious song by a Roger Miller imitator. "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd" is a hilarious song by the real Roger Miller. "Achy Breaky Song" is about the song you love to hate. "I'm My Own Grandpaw" is a country classic. The two Jerry Reed songs are great, and so are the two Ray Stevens songs. I also love the songs by Johnny Paycheck and "Little" Jimmy Dickens. The rest of the songs I didn't like as much, but they are still not bad.

Dr. Demento is an archivist elf of the first order. Testament to his timeworn ways is this collection of fractured holidays tunes and his earlier The Greatest Christmas Novelty CD of All Time. The good Doc showcases 17 tunes here, although the collection could do without nearly a quarter of those, including Joseph Spence's oddity "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and the Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping." The latter is a pop-rap tune that sounds pretty tame in the cracked company of the inimitable Bob Rivers ("The Twelve Pains of Christmas"), Spike Jones (sending up New Year's resolutions), and Father Guido Sarducci ("Santa's Lament"). Then there's James & Kling's perverse "A Terrorist Christmas," as well as a couple of loopy Hanukkah tunes, one a rap number by Doc Mo She and the other from Gefilte Joe & the Fish. --Martin Keller
