Even Baby's Love Them.......2006-07-08

My baby Casey was 10 months old, unable to walk, but she could stand against the couch and shake her legs to "Big, Bad, Billy." My Church gave me inspirtation to help with our outreach ministry. My family loves to sing along with "Go Fish."

Warning to Parents.......2006-01-10

Music is upbeat but content is deceiving. It appears to be a Christian tape, but some songs were disturbing. "Lady Bug" is about a little boy that fries bugs with a magnifying glass. The majority of the song focuses on gross details with a brief tag that the boy is a thug. (Little boys are more likely to pick up on the how too's of bug incineration.) Very concerned with "My own Church". It encourages the mindset that corporate worship is on the same level as going to a circus. It is disrespectful and in poor taste. The artists are talented, but trying to appear not to take their faith too seriously so they appeal to secular market as well. Dissappointing at best, if you were looking for a good Christian cd.

This group of guys are awesome and a great inspiration to our children and people everywhere. What a great spirited bunch of guys spreading such a positive message. They are super role models and a joy to listen to. You go Go Fish Guys!

What a wonderful find!.......2006-06-07

Sometimes life brings you unexpected and wonderful suprises and that's what happened when we found this gem of a CD. I was searching Amazon.com for songs to use for old fashioned circle dances, musical parades and movement activities for young children. I'm a homeschooling mom of two boys ages 2 and 5 and we've invited 27 neighborhood children to join us every week this summer for the above activities.

After much searching, I came across Ms. Downing's CD titled The Second Line: Scarf Activity Songs (we purchased this wonderful CD as well). From there we were led to Wild and Woolly Wiggle Songs. You can't hear samples at Amazon but go to CD Baby, where you'll be treated to a few tracks from this CD.

While children are sure to delight in this CD, it's very family friendly - meaning adults will enjoy the music just as much (even after repeated playing). The diverse musical influences which inspire Ms. Downing make every track on this CD a winner.

Highlights include the bluesy track "I've Got the Blues" (about a chameleon), the lovely and lilting "Music of the Sea" which makes you want to waltz and "The Herds of Africa" with its rhythmic beat all lend to a wonderful fusion of rich sounds. "Leap Frog Croaky" has a definite finger poppin' vibe and "On the Farm" sounds like one of those classic children's songs that will be around for generations. "Let's Go Bananas, Two" is reminiscent of a golden oldie my grandmother would sing; it definitely makes you want to break out your ukele and kazoo and join in. And if the track "Give Me That Zydeco" doesn't have you up on your feet dancing, you need to check your vital signs!

It's clear after hearing this CD that Ms. Downing is extremely talented. The awards she's received for this CD are deserved recognition for that talent. So buy this CD and put on your dancing shoes!

This is great children's music that even I don't tire of. My kids request Johnette Downing's music every time we get in our van. All of her CD's are upbeat, educational, and creative. Her music is such a welcome change to the usual children's CD's. You will love it!! We're looking forward to more releases!!

Great Music For All Ages.......2001-04-06

I love this CD! Johnette has created music that you do not get tried of when your kids want to hear it over and over again. (As mine do) My 8 year old loves it and so does my 3 year old. It is the best children's cd out there. The songs are toe-tappers.

Fantastic Album. Made our car journeys fun!!.......2006-10-23

Our little baby boy, Elijah, had always disliked car journeys. Almost every trip would begin with turning on the ignition and Elijah would start crying and screaming. It got to the point where we always dreaded the times we simply couldn't walk to our destination!
We thought we had tried everything (blankie, music, sitting next to him, singing, playing music etc etc). Nothing seemed to work and so we finally resigned ourselves to waiting until Elijah out-grew this stage in his development. That was until we borrowed this album from the library when he was six months old. Playing this cd in the car we listened and really enjoyed it. Elijah listened and continued to cry and scream - until we got to track 16, 'The Tiger's Loose'. He suddenly stopped. There was quiet in the car. "OK" we thought "That's a coincidence". 'The Tiger's Loose' came to an end. Elijah started crying and screaming. We restarted the song. Elijah was quiet. And so continued our first car journey playing that song over and over again.
That was a month ago and believe us we must have heard that song over and over hundreds of times. Never got tired of it though!
Nowadays Elijah is happy to listen to other things - the rest of the album (!), other kids CDs, the radio, Mummy's and Daddy's favourite sounds - and be content in the car. There are still times when only 'The Tiger's Loose' will do, usually when Elijah is really tired. And then, by the second playing he's usually asleep. Suffice to say, we now own a copy of '25 Fun Animal Songs'.
We can't guarantee this CD will calm your upset baby. But we can go on record as saying "This really is a wonderful children's album and we highly recommend it as part of your family music collection".
And just to add, Mummy is a trained Nanny, pre-school teacher and elementary school teacher. She now takes care of a 5 year old after school until his Mom and Dad get home. He and Elijah really enjoy listening to this album in the car together. And yes, the 5 year old's favourite track is 'The Tiger's Loose'. Really, truly.
Thank you Twin Sisters. This is an excellent kid's album. We are really looking forward to hearing your other CDs.

Fun, but should be "23 Fun Animal Songs and 2 Ugly Ones".......2003-05-17

My kids (ages 3 and 5) really enjoy this album. Most of the songs are inventive and fun, and the music is pretty good. Toward the end of the album, the song quality seems to break down. It seems almost as though the songwriters had contracted for 25 songs and had trouble coming up with the last few of them. The melodies for the last couple songs are pretty sing-songy, and the 24th song on the album (What does a zoologist do all day) is hilarious because the lyrics sound like the singer is reading the "zoologist" entry right out of the encyclopedia. The kids don't seem to notice, however, and it's amusing for the adults. Overall, I think this is a great album, both entertaining and educational.
