Worship albums are quickly becoming a dime a dozen with contemporary Christian groups. While the idea may seem keen to many top-charting artists, the music often falls flat with a dull luster. But the Katinas' new worship release, Lifestyle, is more than just the latest marketing gimmick; it truly reflects their own lifestyle as evidenced by their numerous appearances at Promise Keepers events and Billy Graham crusades as well as worship-driven radio hits. Rest assured, Katinas staples "You Are God," "Thank You," and "Draw Me Close" are ably covered in this live release. However, tracks like the opening "Mighty River," "I Give You My Heart," and the calypso-flavored alternate version of "Trading My Sorrows" add spice to the more regular fare. Never forcing emotion, the Katinas' worship spirit is one of credibility. The brothers from Samoa tastefully blend their harmonies throughout the release, delivering a pleasantly believable product. It's reaffirming to hear a true worship release that encourages the practice well beyond the delivery of the final note. --Michael Lyttle

The Katinas CD is one of a few gospel CDs that allows you to experience God in spirit and in truth. Their raw sincerity and willingness to praise God openly is truly moving. A Christian MUST HAVE!

After a long day from work and school I had just received my copy in the mail. All I can say is that I delayed going to bed for about an hour to listen to this inspirational cd. It is a blessing and the worship is so genuine, it cannot be faked.

These men are blessed of God and the cd is a blessing to any individual. I can honestly say one of my best purchases in a long time and I almost own all their cds. Highly recommended, you will be blessed.

this cd is the best worship cd i have ever heard. from the awesome 'mighty river' inviting the holy spirits presence to the rocky 'rejoice' celebrating the glorious salvation of God. there are many highlights to this cd, for me it is the true spirit of worship emanating from the voices and music. personal favourites are 'trading my sorrows', 'you are good', 'Lord, i lift your name on high','eagles wings' and 'beauty of your grace'. i truly feel like praising God when i listen to this cd and would, and have, recommend it to anyone.God's anointing is definitely on this music!!

      I've been listening to this over and over and over again. I normally like hard rock, but this grew on me. I was trying to find Christian music I liked, and I've been listening to nothing else for over a week.

      I had the extreme privelege of attending a church service in Murfreesboro, TN a few weeks ago where the Katinas actually performed for us. These guys are amazing, talented, gifted performers and servants of the Lord-not to mention extremely cute! I am so grateful that I had the chance to experience these guys in person and it was something that I'll never forget. I can't wait to get all their CD's! May the Lord Bless you and keep you...

      I've seen these guys in concert, have listened to all of their English speaking albums and have heard their testimony. I believe they do have a calling from God on their lives. In fact their whole family does.

      The Katina brother's father served in the Marines in Vietnam and came home from the war an alcoholic. One Wednesday night in 1971, their father accepted salvation and their whole family was healed. Eight years later he began to pastor a church in Samoa where he would raise his children to be leaders.

      Check out their labels' web site in order to get a little better feel for them. Read their liner notes. Who are they thanking?

      It's a rarity, even for some Christian artists, to stop a show and give thanks to our Heavenly Father, or minister to the audience with their testimonies and statement of faith. They're not the typical band who will run for the bus at the end of their shows. They stay after the show in order to minister a word of encouragement or offer prayer. It's good to see that the Katina brothers have this commitment and passion for God and the Body.

      I believe they are a part of a movement which Fred Hammond has called "the new season of music". The Katinas will be complete once they do praise and worship music.

      My theory on these guys is that they are not really Christian. They are heathens trying to make the religion look bad by putting out bland, soulless funk-lite and warbling smug, simplistic lyrics that are shallower than Jerry Lee Lewis' gene pool. The contemporary Christian scene needs more charisma, creativity and humor if it's going to reach people. The Katinas come up short on all three counts; they need to listen to that still, small voice and think carefully about whether music is really their calling.

      This album had more of a pop sound than their Gotee debut, but the sound is still addictive. My favorites are "Thank You" (a wonderful worship song), "My Samoa," "Believe," "Who Do You Love," and "It's Real." I don't think any sincere person can listen to Destiny without being spiritually touched.

      I've been listening to the Katinas since i was a lil' one because they'd send tapes to my mom and i was wondering if there was any way to get a hold of any of those albums from back in the day like "We want to be used", "songs for mom", "Thanks", and any other old school ones because yes... cassette tapes can only go so far *smyles and giggles* so if anyone knows of a way for me to get a hold of those albums can you let me know? Thanks! Oh and Boiz... keep up the good work. May the Lord continue to work through you all and bless yah :D!!

      I bought the Katinas Destiny CD for my kids when my friend recommended it. It's great music and lyrics and my kids and I love it. Our favorites are It's real, Thank you, You Are, Sold Out believer and Who do you Love.
      It doesn't have lyrics that sounds borderline. It is good, fun, christian music.

      The Katinas are a vocal group signed to Gotee Records, a Christian label that released its first album in 1994, the groundbreaking 'Lovin The Day' by Out of Eden. The best way to describe the sound of the Katinas would be this: imagine Nick Carter, A.J. McLean, and Brian Littrell from the BSB all combined into one voice. Then throw in Jordan Knight (from NKOTB), and then back them up with just about any 'boyband'; that should give you an idea of what the Katinas sound like. After listening to this self-titled debut release, I can assure fans of pop/R&B music that the Katinas are indeed, "all that" and more. I even went as far as putting together a list of the singles that I would have released from this CD - in order. Here it goes:

      "The Circle" (track #3) would be my pick to kick things off for the Katinas campaign. "The Circle" is an upbeat, R&B flavored jam that has a swingy, positive all the way around feel to it; no B-side. The second single would be "One More Time" (track #4), a ballad thanking God (who else?) for giving us the strength to go on when things get rough. If you've heard Hi-Five's "I Can't Wait Another Minute" from 1991, "One More Time" might remind you of that song - just a bit. I would also include the celebratory "So Good" (track #5) as a B-side to the "One More Time" single.

      Now we're off to the third single, which is "You Are God" (track #11), a power ballad that fits right in with most mainstream Christian music, and features the group's most powerful vocals. No B-side to "You Are God", just an R&B-ish, "Quiet Storm" version, an acoustic version (violins included) and an instrumental.

      The fourth and final single would be a double-A side: "Mama" (track #6) and "The Other Side" (track #7). "Mama" is the group's extremely moving tribute to their late mother (yes, the Katinas are all brothers) and is easily my favorite song on the album. I can't really listen to "Mama" without getting sad, but it helps to listen to "The Other Side" right after it. "The Other Side" is a comforting song that encourages the listener to look forward to seeing their dearly departed loved ones in the afterlife, and it really does have a healing effect.

      The rest of the album is a wonderful listen, but the songs I highlighted: "The Circle", "One More Time", "You Are God", "Mama", and "The Other Side" are the absolute 'must hear' tracks. Although the Katinas released a more pop-oriented second album in 2001, I believe this one is the stronger of the two...

      The Katina Brothers are a first class guy group. The highlights of this cd are One More Time, The Other Side and Take Me Higher. But the true gem and modern classic on the CD is YOU ARE GOD. This songf will remian a Christian standard for years to come. It is worth buying the entire cd for this one powerful worship song. This is a MUST HAVE cd for anyone with a taste for quality Christian music.
