I bought this CD because I was a big First Call fan. I love this CD for two reasons. Firstly, I much enjoy Bonnie's rich and lovely (to me) voice and style of music. But secondly, in these songs (and in her books, I would bet though I have not read them), Bonnie shares her heart from a place of trust the Lord has carried her to amidst a rich and sometimes painful life. Life on this earth, a once perfect place steadily and deeply corrupted by man's sin (selfishness and pride), is indeed rich and wonderful, but painful and sorrowful at the same time. To really LIVE and LOVE amidst it all requires a deep trust in God, who loves us and walks with us through the painful times rather than rescuing us from them all. We can be hardened and embittered by the fire, or refined and made more beautiful by it, as gold is -- and I believe Bonnie has been refined through the fires she and the Lord have walked through together. This album is a statement of what God has done, our place of trust before Him, and of hope we can have in Him. He is a changer, refiner, and lover of our souls and spirits -- but the rescue into paradise does not come until we leave this earth. I especially like "Your Love Changes Everything" -- often brings tears to my eyes. How can a person who has been through so much heartache have such a perspective? It is possible -- God is real, His love is real, and He is able and willing -- make Him YOUR Everything! Thanks so much, Bonnie, for this gift.

    AMC Review ***** Bonnie Keen began her career as a studio session singer in Nashville, TN. She worked with artists including Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Rich Mullins, Steve Winwood, and Barry Manilow. From her years as a session vocalist, the trio First Call was born. Keen and fellow founding members Marty McCall and Mel Tunney, who was later replaced by Marabeth Jordan, released 12 albums and received five Grammy nominations and 11 Dove Award nominations, taking home three Dove Awards. Jordan left the group in 1994, reducing the trio to a pair. Keen released her first solo album, "Marked for Life," in 1999.     5 out of 5 stars AMAZING VOICE--AMAZING SONGS--AMAZING CD!.......2004-09-18

    Bonnie Keen's voice should be made a national treasure. It isn't accidental that she had a career as a session vocalist before forming First Call and now recording as a solo artist (First Call is still around--it is just "on the back burner" at the moment). Her voice is a wonderful instrument, full of emotion, depth, warmth, and character. She sings with the sincerity that she really "gets" what she is singing about--logical since she wrote most of the songs--and she wants the listener to "get it" too. The first five songs alone are reason enough to purchase this CD. Of special note should be the songs "Isaac," about the willingness to give God anything and everything in his time, and "My Hosanna," which celebrates the joy of a "hard won" faith, faith that has survived a few trials. If you enjoy Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, or Annie Lennox, do something nice for yourself: buy this CD and get a consumate collection of adult contemporary pop that pleases the ear, challenges the mind, and moves the heart.
