Winnie The Pooh And Some Bees (Book And CD Set)

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
British actor Peter Dennis breathes life into classic Winnie the Pooh stories in the first in a series of A. A. Milne's timeless bear tales. Children will be delighted as Winnie disguises himself as a little black cloud in hopes of fooling a hive's queen bee in order to grab a pawful of fresh honey. Unfortunately, Pooh's scheme doesn't quite go as planned, and he finds himself up in the air without a drip of honey, facing the possibility of rapidly plummeting to the ground. Of course, his friend Christopher Robin comes to the rescue. This unabridged book and CD set is an excellent way to encourage beginning readers or allow preschoolers to pretend to read as they listen to Dennis's lively rendition of this warm, gentle Pooh chronicle. The set includes a bonus story, "Eeyore Loses a Tail." --Deborah L. Moore

4 out of 5 stars It's not Disney...that is for sure! This is the REAL pooh!.......2002-07-31

This is not a Disney done album. Which for some that may turn you away, and for others it may interest you greater. As an adult I really enjoyed listening to these (I have them on tape) tapes. The narrator is really pretty good. Although if accustomed to Disney's pooh, you will be taken aback at first by the sound of Pooh's voice done by the narrator. It is slow and low and not at all the friendly cute Disney voice. But, you soon get over this and enjoy the actual stories written by A.A. Milne, and not abridged by the likes of Disney.

My four year old son enjoys listening to these, and doesn't seem to care that the stories are not the same as his classic Disney Pooh movies. I just told him that these are the REAL Pooh Stories like in the books that we have.

I think the child that you buy these for may have to be 4 and above to really get anything out of them. It takes some listening skills and isn't quite as flashy as other read-along stories done by Disney.

One complaint that I have is the narrators voice version of Piglet, it is so strange to hear him snort in between each sentence that it gets a little annoying. He actually has a little piggy snort that he does...and I didn't care for that :(.

But if you enjoy the classic A.A. Milne books, and his writing style and the neat little innocent stories of Christopher Robin and his pal Winnie ther Pooh, you will enjoy it read to you on these well done albums and read along books.
