The recording has met with significant critical success in Canada since its initial release, having been nominated for a Juno award (Best Children's Recording) and receiving a gold-star recommendation from the Canadian Children's Book Centre. It has been positively reviewed in the American Record Guide (Mar/Apr 98) and will be reviewed in the American Library Association's publication 'Booklist' in August, 1999.
About the Artist
The selections of orchestral music were recorded exclusively for this production by the English Chamber Orchestra of London, England. Piano solos by Elizabeth Acker. The Narrator of the story is R. H. Thomson. Other actors include Leslie Marshall, Marshall Matson and B. J. McLellan. The story was written by Robert Pennee. The recording was created and produced by Joanne Grodzinski and Robert Pennee (Maestro Orpheus Productions).

"Maestro Orpheus and The World Clock" is a dramatised story for children, 62 minutes long. In this dream-like tale, 10-year-old Fred is visiting his grandfather when time suddenly stops. Setting out to discover why, Fred meets Maestro Orpheus and his magical lyre. Together they begin a musical adventure along the Corridor of Time, on their way to wind the World Clock. Drawing on a broad range of classical music the story explores the intimate relationship between time, memory and music in a way that is intended to delight and fill with wonder.
