Pokemon (Blister)
Editorial Reviews

From the Flashdance-like opener, "Pokémon Theme," to the closer, "You Can Do It (If You Really Try)," 2.B.A. Master is high-energy fare. This CD sports an over-the-top flavor drawn from video-game-styled electronic blips, disco danceability, and the hollow tripped-out beats of theme-park musicals, all of which makes this super hot stuff for the Pokémon generation. The 13 tunes here are spread between action narrative ("What Kind of Pokémon Are You?," "Together Forever"), scene-setting devices ("Viridian City"), and character theme songs for our hero Ash, his Pokémon Pickachu, and his pal Misty, as well as rival trainers, Team Rocket. "What Kind of Pokémon Are You?" features multitracked rapping and R&B choral refrains; the superlative "2.B.A. Master" bursts with space-age Michael Jackson-inspired speak-singing and electronic riffs; and not only is the funky "PokéRap" featured in audio, but the enhanced disc contains the visual component as well. --Paige La Grone --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

Disappointing re-released songs.......2007-05-14
Want this CD? Willing to put up with re-released versions of all the Kanto and Johto songs such as the first two theme songs and miscellaneous tracks like Double Trouble? (I ask: WHY?!)
If you're a longtime fan, with CDs of 2.B.A Master and Totally Pokemon already in the collection, don't bother. Half of this CD's tracks are a waste of time; we've heard them all before! In fact, not even half of the music here is new material. Most of the new stuff is theme songs, which are also disappointing if you're looking for full 3 minute tracks. Some, like the Battle Frontier theme, only go for about 48 seconds. Tsk tsk; didn't Loeffler and Co bother to come up with more verses in the later seasons?
However, if you're a real enthusiast and you've signed all the petitions to get more CD's released; I suppose this is better than nothing, and it's funny listening to the guy in the Hoenn PokeRap mispronounce all the names. And the CD cover is prettyful. (lots of new poses for all your favourite monsters)
Unlike the first two CD's, there are NO lyrics provided, just updated info on who actually composed the theme songs (urging you to fix up your iTunes playlists). Still, I gave it three stars all the same; the tracks at the end make up for all the old stuff at the beginning. (And yes, I do realise that it's important to come back to the franchise's roots with the first couple of season's music such as the main theme song and the Rap at the end; but there's just a little too many from the first two CD's put on this one to make it actually logical...)
Love It!.......2007-05-13
I bought this for my son (age 7) and it is his favorite cd to listen to...he is a Pokemon fanatic. It has all of the theme songs (except the new, Diamond and Pearl)and that is what he loves about it. We have other Pokemon cd's as well, but this one is one of the best!
Medley of the years.......2007-05-12
Pokémon X: Ten Years of Pokémon is, essentially, the "best of" in music since Pokémon was introduced. Some of the songs have already been released on CD, and only a few are never-before-heard, but the CD is still worth the wait.
The bulk of the CD contains the theme songs for each season of Pokémon so far, with my only concern being the length of these songs. Most of the themes are as short as they were in their respective season, and I know that extended versions are out there for most of the theme songs...but they are still great songs, short and all.
For anyone interested in Pokémon, this is a great buy. It's more of an expansion pack of songs then a complete CD, but it does have that fun appeal, which should be the goal for any CD.
Good soundtrack but not 100% satisfying........2007-04-18
The songs are good and fun to listen to. They are the best of the best from all the songs that have come out over the past ten years. The only problem is that some of the songs are really short.

Pokemon theme songs.......2007-07-03
My son loves dancing and singing along to this CD - he'll even put it on in the morning before school. He also listens to it while he's reading his Diamond & Pearl Official Guide Book. Fun music for Pokemon fans!
A great mix of songs from different genres.......2007-03-09
The songs on this CD are great songs that are really surprising to hear. Suprising because of how the songs are expertly presented in multiple genres while still maintaining a unique feel that is clearly at home with Pokémon. Even though the CD was released in the '90s, the songs can still compete with the recent releases. As a bonus, the CD comes with a PokéRAP video which can be used on a computer. This CD combines great songs with great Pokémon flavor, and is one that should not be missed.
Not too bad at all..........2007-02-26
Let me begin by saying I'm fifteen. It was when I was eight that I first discovered Pokemon, and feel instantly in love with it. I had the games, the movies, the cards and everything. Around 2002, however, my interest waned and I gradually stopped collecting Pokemon, only playing one of the games now and then. Recently, however, I dug up this old CD in my closet and, having nothing better to do, decided to give it another shot.
Was I surprised! Eight years later, I'm still nodding my head, tapping my foot and (heaven forbid) singing to the catchy little tunes on 2.B.A. Master that amused me so much when I was younger. Now, how about a quick rundown of the songs?
1. Pokemon Theme
How can you go wrong here? The traditional theme of the anime, though in it's extended form. Nothing exicting, but a classic for tried-and-true fans.
8/10
2. 2.B.A Master
The namesake of the CD, though as to why sorta baffles me. The song in itself isn't all that great. It reminds me of some twisted combination of bubbly pop and pseudo-rap with a Pokemon coating, though that's probably a really bad description. Youc an safely pass this track up.
5/10
3. Viridian City
Oh wow...This one bring back memories...My favorite song on the CD when I was younger, and remains so today. Yeah, the lyrics are cheesy, but the beat itself is fun and fast-paced. And despite the rather corny lyrics, you just can't help but sing along at times.
9/10
4. What Kinds Of Pokemon Are You?
"Very Ehhh" is the only way to describe it. Another pseudo-rap that's only sub-par. It's essentially a guy naming all the Pokemon types and what sort of attacks they have. Still, it has its moments.
5/10
5. My Best Friends
The first of the trio of emotional songs on the CD. I can't put my finger on why I like it, but there's simply something about "My Best Friends" that makes me smile. It does sound very similar to the more popular "Together Forever", though.
8.5/10
6. Everything Changes
For the longest time I hated this song, I really did. But I gave it a chance and eventually it grew on me. Anyways, "Everything Changes" gets off to a verrrrrry slow start. In fact, you only get into the meat of the song about 1 minute in. That aside, it's not too shabby.
6.5/10
7. The Time Has Come
The second emotional track on 2.B.A. Master. Probably the slowest song yet, but don't let that deter you. The music itself is very beautiful and stunning at times, and the lyrics fit, I suppose. The only downside is I find the singer's voice to be off for some reason. But then, that's just my opinion.
8/10
8. Pokemon Dance Mix
Perfect for raising your spirits after the heartfelt "The Time Has Come". Makes for an exellent workout track with an almost techno-y feel to it. The typically corny Pokemon lyrics aren't too bad in this one, either.
9/10
9. Double Trouble
When I was younger, even my mom loved this track (but then, she's a Team Rocket fan)! And for good reason, I might add. Captures the Tema Rocket spirit perfectly - villainous with a tad of humor and wackyness. It's surprisingly well-sung considering the singers are using the voices of their characters rather than their actual singing voices.
8.5/10
10. Together Forever
Not quite as nice as "My Best Friends", in my opinion, but "Togther Forever" does a nice job of wrapping up the emotional trio of tracks. The beginning is very nice, and the song itself is uplifting.
8/10
11. Misty's Song
Ughhhh...The worst song on the CD. It's not that I don't like the pairing of Ash and Misty (I don't care either way), but this song is simply terrible. It's a cheap shot at a slow ballad that has no substance whatsoever. The lyrics are the corniest yet, and the singer's voice is rather nasally. Please, do yourself a favor and skip this track!
2/10
12. Pokerap
Puts your faith back in the Pokemon franchise after the dissapointing "Misty's Song". Pokerap is a compilation of the ending clips shown in the first season of the anime. It features two guys reciting the first 150 Pokemon peppered with some cute dialogue. While it doesn't sound like much, it's quite entertaining and catchy.
7.5/10
13. You Can Do It
The obligatory motivational track. While not bad in itself, it just doesn't fit the theme of Pokemon. Yeah, it touches upon the chasing after your dreams and reaching high sort of themes, but it feels out of place for some reason. Really, it's one of those songs you either love or hate.
6/10
Overall? Yeah, 2.B.A. Master is an exellent purchase, whether you're a long-time Pokemon Fan or a younger enthusiast. It provides some fun and peppy music even if you're not a die-hard fan.

Great stocking stuffer for a 6 year old.......2007-01-15
Our six year old son likes it alot, he loves music, and he loves Pokemon, so of course we got this CD for him, for Christmas. He particularly likes number 7- The time has come, Pikachu's good-bye.
Awesome CD........2006-11-15
This is probably the best Pokémon CD out there.
1. Pokemon Theme-9/10. The first theme song!
2. 2 B A Master-8/10.
3. Viridian City-10/10. Love it.
4. What Kind of Pokemon Are You?-10/10. So memorable.
5. My Best Friends-10/10! Some of the verses aren't the greatest but the refrain is very beautiful.
6. Everything Changes-10/10 too. Powerful message.
7. The Time Has Come-10/10...seeing a pattern? These emotionally charged songs are great. And there's no way to tell this is from Pokemon.
8. Pokemon-8/10.
9. Double Trouble-10/10! Go Team Rocket! Always my favorites. Need more Butch and Cassidy though; they deserve their own DVD volume or CD or something.
10. Together Forever-10/10. Awesome song for a friend.
11. Misty's Song-9.5/10. I'm not a Misty/Ash shipper but this is a good song. I heard it first in the Pokemon Live show.
12. Pokerap-9/10.
13. You Can Do It If You Really Try-7/10. Not too shabby.
Overall an excellent,pokemon-centric album for all fans. ;)

"Gotta catch 'em all," shouts teen-popper (and 1999's Buckner & Garcia) Billy Crawford on this kid-phenom soundtrack. Engineered to capture not only preteen fans of the Japanese anime craze, but Top 40 listeners who might fall for singles such as girl group M2M's peppy "Don't Say You Love Me," it's loaded with familiar zillion-selling names such as Britney Spears, 'N Sync, Christina Aguilera, and 98 Degrees. A mixture of light dance-pop, innocuous romantic ballads, and "Eye of the Tiger" drama keeps things moving. G-rated through and through, the disc's nonstop chirpiness might eventually wear on parents' ears even as they acknowledge the catchy hooks. The younger set will love it without qualification. --Rickey Wright

pokemon CD-i recommend this for any anime CD collector!.......2006-11-12
What can i say? I love Pokemon!
Erm... well, ok... yet..........2006-10-23
Ok, I do remember back then my happy days on 1999 when I first saw this movie (at the cinema 2 times, at the TV like 4 times...) and I was dazzled, I wanted everything about it.
Of course, mom and dad weren't (And are still not too much...) flattered with the Pokemon idea, so I fetched the Disk from a Friend.
When I first heard it... ok, there's the Pokemon theme song, good. M2M's "Dont' say you love me" is actually the coolest song from the disk and "Vacation" is quite refreshing. People should also listen carefully to the "Brother my Brother" lyrics (specially at this time *rolls eyes*). Then.... I came upon the Japanese version of the Movie (which I luv) and the Disk and I completely noticed that the rest of the songs where actually (and I knew it from the begining) C-R-A-P.
Yes, that "c" word, since unfortunally, there in America they tend to... well yeah.. Americanize stuff, so they placed things like Britney Spears, N*Scync... blah blah blah.. and they made songs which are NOT part or even have to do with the movie (ok... I understand the title "soda pop" but... did Britney even nows what it actually does?)
So, if you want to remember nolstalgia from that time, or you're just a cunning fan buy it or download the song clips at some webpages... if not GET THE JAPANESE VERSION and you'll see what I'm talking about.
The most amazing thing I have for any category ever........2006-03-30
This is a Pokemon CD(duh).Like the other Pokemon CDs,it has pop music. As it might make your ears bleed if you don't like pop music, and but few songs are actully about Pokemon, this is outstandingly awesome to me.
Being...me...I couldn't care less what other people think negativly about me.Ya,I'm a pokemaniac, and I listen to pop music(well, really the only pop music I listen to are my 3 Pokemon CDs),so what?
I baught this CD when it came out back in 1999,'bout 7 years ago.I was 4 years old.I loved Pokemon since it came out.And,8 years later,3 to 11,toddler to pre-teen,yada,yada,yada,I love it even more.Every day I listened to this CD.Untill it got lost.It got lost when I was 7 or 8.Since then,I was dying. Finally,I decided to buy a new one. Now,though,I hear it diffrently. When I was younger,I'd listen to just about anything. Now for some reason this CD is better.
I love most of the songs.
1.Pokemon Theme-This is the extended version of the one on 2BA Mater.But it's more pop-like then technopop-like.
2.Don't Say You Love Me-The only reason they put this on the CD is because in the music video, these people are at one of those theaters where you watch it in your car,and they're watching the Pokemon The First Movie(which this is a soundtrack of (duh)).Nevertheless, this is my favorite song.
3.It Was You-Hmm...I guess this is okay.
4.We're a Miricle-They played this after the movie.Okay, the person singing this is really bad.I barely like this song.
5.Soda Pop-Britney Spears?What were they thinking?!
6.Somewhere,Someday-Average,I guess.Not my top 5,but...whatever.
7.Get Happy-I LOVE THIS SONG!This is my second favorite.It's so cheerful,you can imagine.Awesome.Gotta listen to it 7 times a day.If not,more.
8.(Hey You)Free Up Your Mind-this is one of the songs played after this movie. It's pretty good, would be better if it wasn't mostly "free up your mind" over and over.If you hear the whole song, you'll see what I mean.
9.Fly With Me-Okay.umm...that's all I can think of.
10.Lullaby-o_0...I like this.
11.Vacation-this is the extended version of it played on Pikachus' Vacation.
12.Makin' My Way (Anyway That I Can)-Average.(I'm running out of things to say!)
13.Catch Me If You Can-Extended version of the one played on Pikachus' Vacation.I don't really even know myself if I like this better or not.
14.(Have Some)Fun With The Funk-Really?Serosly?AARON CARTER?!?!Sounds like a girl.Begging of the song isn't...very good,but the rest is Okay.
15.If Only Tears Could Bring You Back-I really like this song.Played after the movie.Sounds like a love song. Is,most likely.
16.Brother,My Brother-Really inspiering.I put my own words with some of the ones from this,and...well,It would take me an Hour to explain all of it.Sorry.
Okay, sorry,I forgot to put who sung the songs. You can just check above the page,on the sampler thing. If I messed anything up,it's because I typed all the from heart(I memoriezed all the songs).I'm trying to make it sound like I'm not sexist, but I reccomend girls get this.Mostly girls sing, then the rest are boy bands. But boys can get it if they want to.Who's stopping them?
Well(whew),that review was longer than expected.I wanna be a writer when I'm older.I rock at that(heheh)....did I forget anything...?I'll put it down in another review.
Awesome.Highly reccomended.
...why aren't da indentations working?
Amazing.......2006-02-23
Although some of the songs may not be as heavily-based around Pokémon itself as they are in the 2.B. A Master CD, the songs on this CD are still pretty catchy to any Pokémon trainers out there. The CD also comes with an awesome poster for the first movie; a must have for any Pokémon master.
these cd .......2006-02-22
is (in my opinion) one of the best pop cds of the 90s
this cd includes whatever was good in the 90s pop
the songs are fun and catchy
personely i was brought to tears by listening to some tracks
only because this cd was an importent part of my childhood
but most of the people who wasnt raised by watching the tv show
will find it just fun

Pokémon fever continues to burn hot, as evidenced by this catching symptom: a high-octane pop soundtrack for the animated television series. Dream teen group Johto borrow from the elements that make Backstreet Boys, Britney, Christina, and 'N Sync sensationally popular, repackaging their sound Pokémon-style for young audiences. A cross between Up with People, Hanson, and a latter-day Mickey Mouse Club, Totally Pokémon opens with "Pokémon Johto" the syrupy pop jingle that opens the television show each Saturday morning. The record's first single, "Pikachu (I Choose You)," is an infectiously buoyant Latin-tinged dance number, and "He Drives Me Crazy" is a youthfully crushed-out ballad in celebration of series protagonist Ash Ketchum. Included here too are seven bonus karaoke tracks (lyrics are printed inside the disc liner), and while adults may grow weary of these songs, those with Pikachu-obsessed children can rest assured that Totally Pokémon is clean, fun, and goofy enough to include a tune called "Song of Jigglypuff." --Paige La Grone

A KID'S REVIEW.......2007-06-05
Well, i loved He Drives Me Crazy. It really does talk about Misty's secret crush on Ash. Though it was quite obivious that Misty loved Ash, Ash was, shall we say, slightly thick-headed to not notice that. If you noticed, Misty agrees to what Ash says first, then Brock follows suit. I really wished that things were better for Misty and Ash. Well back on track, You will really LOVE the song "He Drives Me Crazy". Ash was really mean to leave Misty and go to another region when she cant come. She was there in every step and he rewards her like this(Yes, i did see that episode). This song is like a continuation from "Misty's Song" which is sung by Misty when Ash is asleep. I did not buy this CD but my Cousin did and after he got another CD gave this to me.
I really think Ash is moving through friends too fast. First, Misty, then May now Dawn. Sheesh. Any way,
Thanks for your kind attention,
Good bye and love Pokemon!
Great for Pokémon fanatics.......2006-02-23
If you love Pokémon, this CD is for you. It may be cheesy stuff, but I just bought this CD and I love it. (I'm 19 years old). A must have for Pokémaniacs!

This CD goes up with the rest of those pop songs out there. It's great! Kids can listen to it and there parents don't have to have a worry about anything bad happening at all. Even teens can enjoy it. My older sister who is 15 loves All We Wanna Do. I love pop songs! This is definatly one CD that pokemon worked hard on.
I Love It!.......2005-07-26
This is a great CD! I really love it and hope you will too, as this CD was made for Pokemon Nuts like me!
1. Pokemon Johto: An inspirational song about discovering new places and stuff!
2. Pikachu! I Choose You!: A song with a Latin beat and I like it! It's all about meeting Pikachu and stuff! Piakchu rules!
3. All We Wanna Do: Also very inspirational about being yourself and having fun with life!
4. The Game: It's a good song, about being a Pokemon Master and making it all the way!
5. He Drives Me Crazy: This is my personal favorite! It's about Misty's secret crssh on Ash, but it's also kind of a love song.
6. You and Me and Pokemon: About becoming friends with Pokemon and stuff. Great song! Also a favorite!
7. Biggest Part of My Life: About how training Pokemon has become a big part of life! I like this one too!
8. Do You Really Wanna Play?: Great song! I like it.
9. Song of Jigglypuff: Jiggly, jiggly! Nice song!
10. 2 Perfect Girls: I LOVE this song!
11. Never Too Far From Home: About always knowing that whatever you choose to do, your family and pals are behind you all the way!
12. PokeRap: Cool song, upbeat and, well, cool!
The karaoke versions: If you know the words I say, why not? Sing it!
Side note: These songs are very inspirational! Play them when you're feeling down. They cheer me up no matter what!
A Fun CD!.......2004-10-17
An enjoyable CD that everyone can listen to, especially children. Since it's a 2001 release, it is mostly consistent with the Pop music phenomenon of that time, although not entirely Pop-oriented.
1. "Pokémon Johto": the theme song for the third season of the TV series, "The Johto Journeys." A song with a happier tone than the original "Pokémon Theme" from the first television season, and the album, "2.B.A. Master." [5 Stars]
2. "Pikachu (I Choose You)": an upbeat Latin-style song. It has a nice guitar and trumpet solo. [4 Stars]
3. "All We Wanna Do": a very nice song to dance to. Good lyrics coupled with some nice synthesizers. Slightly Pop-oriented. [4 Stars]
4. "The Game": a song that can get somewhat redundant after a while, although the chorus is a nice catchy tune. [3.4 Stars]
5. "He Drives Me Crazy": a song performed by, supposedly the character Misty, although the lead singer sounds nothing like the character. Could be considered Pop-oriented. [3.8 Stars]
6. "You and Me and Pokémon": a very nice song with good lyrics, and good singers. My personal favorite. [5 Stars]
7. "Biggest Part of My Life": definitely not my favorite here. It would be a good song, except for the lyrics, which seem to idolize the whole Pokémon idea. [2 Stars]
8. "Do Ya Really Wanna Play": an okay song that is the most Pop-oriented one on this disc. [3 Stars]
9. "Song of Jigglypuff": a relaxing song with Jigglypuff singing solo in places. [4 Stars]
10 "Two Perfect Girls": a song sure to put a smile on your face. It is a Late '50s style song that is performed by Eric Stuart, the voice-actor of the character Brock (Stuart has a few other albums out by his group, "The Eric Stuart Band," not of this style music, however). [5 Stars]
11. "Never Too Far From Home": a nice slow ballad with good lyrics. [4 Stars]
12. "PokéRap GS": the new version of the original "PokéRap" heard in the album "2.B.A. Master." Even though it by no means outdoes its predecessor, it has some good overall lyrics. It can get redundant after a while, though. [3 Stars]
13-19: Various karaoke tracks from the original songs.
Overall, this album isn't quite as good as its predecessor, "2.B.A. Master," but it has a few better songs to it. Pokémon fans of any age should like this CD's fun songs and overall carefree tone.

While the inclusion of novelty songster Weird Al Yankovic (here with "Polkamon") and new-waver all-stars the B-52's (here with the playful "The Chosen One") sharpens the proceedings with their individual visions, most of the performers here have been coached by producer David Foster or other music industry veterans. Most successful is former disco diva Donna Summer, who emerges with the dramatic tune "The Power of One," which sneakily includes the Pokémon theme featured throughout the film. Twelve-year-old Alysha may be a burgeoning teen star with her surprisingly mature interpretation of "Dreams." The emphasis is on the current teen-pop trend. Dream Street, Christian boy band Plus One, and O-Town (the band documented in ABC's TV series Making the Band) all serve up the prescribed recipe for success: swooning harmonies, Hallmark-card lyrics, and near-operatic melodies designed for radio. You expected a movie starring Pokémon to miss a trend? C'mon. --Rob O'Connor

Great for Pokémon fanatics.......2006-02-23
Every song on this CD is great for anyone who loves Pokémon and understands how awesome the games are.
LOUSY.......2006-01-08
I'll review each track:
1. Power of One - First track to use the word "one" in its name. Utterly slow. Hey Donna Summer, what happened to disco? 2/10
2. Dreams - Utterly slow. Hey Alysha, you're two years older than me. 1/10
3. They Don't Understand - Utterly bad. Just so you know, Dream Street is broken up. Thus, no more of their whiny songs like this. 1/10
4. Wonderland - Utterly bad and slow. Hey Angela Via, wrong movie soundtrack. 0/10
5. With All Your Heart - Utterly slow. One of the last ever boy bands. When 2001 ended, boy bands died. 1/10
6. So generic, I don't feel like typing in its name. 0/10
7. Flying Without Wings - Utterly slow. If you want Irish bands, check out the Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly and the Tossers instead. 1/10
8. Pokemon World - Utterly bad. If you're a fan of Youngstown and Nobody's Angel.. you'll still hate this. 0/10
9. Blah Blah Blah - Utterly okay. Who the hell are these people? 4/10
10. Polkamon - Utterly AWESOME! 8/10
11. The Chosen One - Utterly AWESOMER! Also, second track to use the word "one" in its name. 10/10
12. One Heart - Third track to use the word "one" in its title. 0/10
13. One - No, I'm not kidding about this. Its name is "one". 0/10
14. Comin' To - Wow, actual beats. 5/10
15. No. 1/10
16. Legend - Good. 7/10
Grade: 41/160: F-
If you purchase this album, remember to keep tracks 1, 2, 4, 6 and 13 VERY seperated, otherwise, you'll never them them apart. Same for 5, 7, and 14.
Mom and Dad approved.......2005-10-15
My Pokemon-obsessed ten year-old borrowed this CD three times at the library. When the renewals were used up I decided to order it for his collection.
What surprised me about this CD was that the whole family didn't mind listening to it over and over in the car. I have a short tolerance level for Pokemon. But this CD has some strong "power ballads", cute pop tunes and the very entertaining Weird Al Polka (everybody Polka mon-get it?) The song "Blah, Blah, Blah" humorously addresses all of the adults who don't understand the obsession.
The production values are good too. Some children's CD's have second rate orchestrations, digital mastering, etc. This is a professional recording.
I only like one song, the rest sucks!.......2005-09-04
"Polkamon" by Weird Al is the only song I like on any Pokemon album. In fact, I think it is the only thing that has anything to do with Pokemon that I really care about anymore. Well, I'll be honest, the game isn't too bad, but the anime is laughably awful, and don't even get me started on the card game. But anyway, I would love Al to re-release "Polkamon" on some collection of rarities in the future. However, other than that, I can't stand the music on here at all. I used to own it, but I tossed it.
It's OK, but could be better.......2005-09-02
It has less top-notch songs compared with the first CD (Pokemon: The First Movie).

Pokemon Christmas Bash.......2006-12-24
This is a Great CD, especially for this time of year. Just like I did with Backstreet Boys Mellinnium, I'm going to do a review of each song. Here goes:
1. Pokemon Christmas Bash- I love this song! Catchy lyrics, great beat. But the "Pika-pika" "Squa-squa-squirtle" part does get kind of annoying in this song.
2. I'm Giving Santa a Pikachu this Christmas- This isn't a half-bad song. Professor Oak has a pretty good voice, although he could use some improvement. Otherwise it's great.
3. Winter is the Coolest Time of Year- Good song, this is the one that Misty sings on. She's a good singer.
4. Nobody Don't Like Christmas- OK, other than the bad grammar, this is a pretty good song. This is a good one to listen to if you want to add a little bit of humor to your day.
5. I Keep My Home In My Heart- This is a good song too. Eric Stuart (I think he plays as Brock) has a good voice. Didn't he used to have his own band at one time? Hmmm...
6. The Christmas Song- OK, now this one was a laugh. Team Rocket doing a remake of a famous Nat King Cole song??? Give me a break!!! I happen to like the origional one better, but Team Rocket didn't do too shabby (bad) on this one.
7. Under the Mistletoe- Another song that wasn't too badly done. It's actually quite good. I can't make any comparisons because I've never heard the origional version of this song before.
8. Must Be Santa- Not bad... Not bad at all. Ash, Misty and Brock do a pretty good job of this one.
9. The Night Before Christmas- I don't have much to say about this song, since I normally don't listen to it. But when I do, it's really not that bad.
10. Pokemon Christmas Medley- This is one of the ones I liked the best. I sing along to this one all the time.
Tracks eleven and twelve are Kaeroeke versions of tracks two and ten. Overall I liked this CD, and I recommend it to anyone who's a Pokemon Fan. Those of you whom have heard Eric Stuart (Brock) Sing Two Perfect Girls on the Pokemon 3 the Ultimet Soundtrack, know that he has really good talent and a very good singing voice. That's it for my review, I hope it helped.
Team Rocket redefines the term "classic"!.......2006-10-24
This review may be a little long, but oh well. I have a lot to say about this cd, and I might as well start at the beginning.
Before I start, I might as well get this cleared up. For those who don't know:
Team Rocket~the coolest characters ever! Jessie, James, and Meowth
Team Twerp~Ash, Misty, Brock, Pikachu (I cringe even typing their names! *shudder*)
Now, here are my original ratings of each of the songs.
1. Pokemon Christmas Bash 8/10
2. I'm Giving Santa a Pikachu this Christmas 0/10
3. Winter is the coolest time of year 5/10
4. Nobody Don't Like Christmas 10/10
5. I keep my Home in my Heart 4/10
6. The Christmas Song Infinity/10 :D
7. Under the Mistletoe 1/10
8. Must be Santa -10/10 (that's a negative, NOT positive!)
9. The Night before Christmas 5/10
10. Christmas Medley 8/10
11. I'm giving Santa a Pikachu this Christmas (karaoke)-10/10
12. Christmas Medley (karaoke)5/10
My Opinions and Song previews:
1. Pokemon Christmas Bash~Good song! It could easily be on your favorites list for this cd. The only thing I'd wish is that Team Rocket had more lines! With a pop/rock beat to it, you'll easily be dancing to it! Overall, if you like Christmas songs and Pokemon, this is a good mix!
2. I'm Giving Santa a Pikachu this Christmas~Probably THE worst song on the cd. I'm not kidding. If you absolutely hate Ash-like me!-you won't like this song. Professor Oak isn't exactly the best in this song either. It has a slow beat to it, which can make an already boring Christmas song even more boring, if even possible. Not cool.
3. Winter is the Coolest time of Year~A good song, but not my favorite. I like the fast-paced melody and the words aren't that bad. Misty sings this song, and it's pretty good. I'm not a fan of "Team Twerp"-as you can probably tell! TR rules!-but this song is one of the better ones.
4. Nobody Don't like Christmas~Fans of Meowth rejoice! This is, by far, the 2nd best on the cd, and the funniest Christmas song you'll ever hear! Our favorite kitty sings about the good and bad parts of all the holidays. A word of advice: get the tissues before listening to this song for the first time. You'll laugh so hard, you'll cry!
5. I keep my Home in my Heart~A good, heartfelt Christmas song about missing your family if you happen to be away on Christmas day. Sung by Brock and Misty, this is an unlikely combination. But the fast melody makes up for all the weirdness and overall it's a pretty good song!
6. The Christmas Song~We now come to the climax of this review, with the very best song on the cd, end of story. Our favorite bad guys, Jessie, James, and Meowth completely redefine the term "classic" by updating the old Nat King Cole hit. I must say, they do a pretty darn good job of it and the song is very good. I think even though this song is an old one, Team Rocket's updated version overrides any other song on this cd. A jazzy, yet good melody, little bits of humor, a good instrumental background; what more could you ask for?
7. Under the Mistletoe~Cute to some, lame to me. Like I said before, I absolutely can't stand the twerps, as I want to tear my hair out at the sight of them. This song has an unusual melody to it, and all it's about is Misty trying to kiss Ash under the mistletoe. Um, he's, like, 10 and she's, like, 11? See a problem there? I'm 14 and I have no desire of kissing anyone (except my crushes...hee hee! :D). I understand the whole shipping shebang, but COME ON.
8. Must be Santa~One word: lame, Lame, LAME! (Okay, maybe three.) This song is set to a weird melody and Team Twerp sings about seeing Santa Claus on Christmas. It's quite weird, and anyone who's heard it and didn't like it can probably attest to that.
9. The Night before Christmas~Team Twerp and Team Rocket (first is the worst, second is the best! :D) read the classic poem "The Night before Christmas". Granted, it's not an actual song, but it's still good! The best part is when they both start reading the poem together (world peace rocks!)
10. Christmas Medley~Cute! The whole gang sings this song. It's all the famous songs with different arrangements of words and melodies rolled into one! However, the only reason this song scored two less points with me is that Team Rocket was once again denied a fair amount of lines. One thing I hate is that Team Twerp takes all the lines and leaves Team Rocket with barely anything. But the 12 days of Christmas is awesome!
11. I'm Giving Santa a Pikachu this Christmas (karaoke)~I hate this song and always will, so what makes you think I'll like to sing along with it? Those who don't like the original version don't listen to this song unless you like the melody.
12. Christmas Medley (karaoke)~A good original version can only mean one thing: People will love to sing along to the karaoke version! Are you the competitive type? Think you know all the words? Then bring the heat! Or if competitions aren't your thing you could just listen to the melody and try to get all the words right.
That's it. Song overviews, my ratings and opinions, the whole nine yards. Bet you can't wait till I get out of here after reading this whole thing, so I guess I'll go. But if you're considering buying this cd, please read what I wrote, and what others have said about this cd. It really will help you and this cd is so good, you'll just have to get your dancing shoes on! Anyway I'm outta here! :D
aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-01-21
oh my god!!! how could anybody like this?????? the world is coming to an end!!!pokemon singing? aaahhhhh!!!this is crazy!!! anybody who actually likes this is insane!!! aaahhhh!!!!i swear everybody who actually likes this is on drugs!!! aaaahhhhhh!!!but seriousely this world is coming to an end and this is proof
Make it stop!.......2005-11-13
How can this cd possibly get so many good reviews? How? It hurts your ears and possibly could give you serious brain damage if you listen to it for too long, ie, 5 or 6 minutes. If you like anime music, get the Laputa/Castle in the Sky soundtrack or anything! Laputa is a work of art and is so soothing. The score is breath- taking. After you think about it, "Pokemon Christmas carols" is pretty funny. lol. Laputa is really worth the money, and you can get it new from a third-party seller for 15$. Pretty good deal.
pokemon christmas carols lol
Happy Pokemon Christmas!.......2005-10-22
You have GOT to get this CD. I love it! But, if you don't watch the show, you'll probably hate it. So, this CD is definately only for people who watch the show - either that or REALLY little kids. And obviously, don't buy it if you don't celebrate Christmas. Oh, and you can tell that Rachel Lillis was really nervous when they were making this CD, as she jumps into her parts a bit fast and also in "Winter Is The Coolest Time Of Year", she was supposed to be doing the voice of Misty, when she slips into Jessie. I kinda feel sorry for her. Anyway, she still did a great job singing, especially in "I'll Keep My Home In My Heart".
1. Pokemon Christmas Bash - It sounds very cool, and Pokeshippers will be delighted with Misty's Christmas wish.
2. I'm Giving Santa A Pikachu For Christmas - This stunk. It's for little kids, I think.
3. Winner Is The Coolest Time Of Year - Well, Misty sings it, and she rules! Of course I love it! I'm listening to one of her theme songs, "Cancion De Misty", right now!
4. Nobody Don't Like Christmas - This song is rather funny. I'm surprised - Meowth's voice actor is actually able to keep Meowth's voice at the same time as not making you want to cover your ears.
5. I Keep My Home In My Heart - This song is SO well done. Lillis-sama does a great job singing as Misty, and Stuart-sama is a great singer, too, as anyone who has heard him singing "Two Perfect Girls" could tell. Gymshippers should love this, as it's a duet by Misty and Brock.
6. The Christmas Song - Jessie, James, and Meowth attempt to sing the old classic. It's okay, I guess.
7. Under The Mistletoe - Pokeshippers will either love this or hate it, depending on their attitude. Basically, Misty tries to catch Ash under the mistletoe... Taylor-sama did a good job singing in Ash's voice. It's not as easy as it sounds(I know, because I sing this song a lot.)
8. Must Be Santa - Sung by Veronica Taylor, Rachel Lillis, and Eric Stuart as Ash, Misty, and Brock. Lillis-sama seems to have grown up singing differently than Taylor-sama and Stuart-sama, because she talks while everyone else sings. It sounds good, though.
9. The Night Before Christmas - I love this version! It's SO funny!
10. Christmas Medley - These are Pokemon versions of Christmas carols. Some people might be offended, as it's a bit sacrilegeous. But the karaoke version is SO pretty!
All in all, it's great, but if you don't watch the show, STAY AWAY!
Have fun with it!

Most of the songs are from Tottaly Pokemon, except for a couple.
...basicly a waste of time and money. And the only reason why I'm giving this a 3 is because I like Tottaly Pokemon....but this is a rip-off....don't buy this.Unless you NEED those couple song...type things.
Loves Music.......2005-10-27
My son, who just turned 11, loves this CD, except the "mushy" parts. (but what do you expect). Was a soundtrack for his birthday party.
Say what you will but..........2004-07-09
This is a pretty good album. I got it when I was only 13 and now years later I can still enjoy it. Sure, it's a re-release of Totally Pokémon, but at the time I couldn't find it and I found that the tracks were on this soundtrack. Basically this is Totally Pokémon V. 1.2, and if you don't already have Totally Pokémon this is definitley worth it.
This CD features all the Pokémon Karaokemon tracks in their full version, the intro to Pokémon Johto Journeys, a remix that was in the movies (and is even better than the original), and some other tracks like the catchy Pokémon GS, and other songs such as He Drives Me Crazy, Biggest Part of my Life and others, as well as Karaoke versions of three of the Karaokemon tracks and To Know the Unknown, the ending sequence of the third movie. If you don't mind Pokémon-themed music, this is definitley a good CD and I'd recommend it.
Pretty Good CD........2004-01-02
This was a pretty good CD. I believe that it did very well and I absolutely do not concur with the concurrence that KOCH records is very bad at making compilations. This was a great cd. Instant favorites on this CD was 6 and 11, all the others that came in eventually, was 1,3,and 7. Very good CD. I really enjoyed it, and you (and/or your kids...) should too!
Pretty good, but..........2003-09-20
The booklet is nice. It includes the lyrics and has a poster of the pokemon.
The songs are nice{I didn't like a lot of them though}.
My favorites are:
#1
#2
#4
#6
#7
#11
The other songs are okay but not that good.
I don't think it would be worth it to get rid of this cd, even though I'm not a big Pokemon fan{ I don't just collect Pokemon, as you already know}. But if you are a big- 100%- absolute- fan -in a -got to get everything way- than you might want to get this. If not I don't think you'd want to regret it.
Average customer rating:
- The best since the second movie soundtrack...

The best since the second movie soundtrack... .......2004-11-02
This CD gives what you want, and more. It comes with all of the main themes of the movie, (Mewtwo's theme becomes even more evident when you don't have to look and listen to characters) and even some music which you can't hear due to voices and sound effects.
The orchestration is brilliant. And the sound quality is so good you can practically pick out each individual instrument from the smush and identify it. (no it's not all synthesised! If you listen to the DVD the producers even say that first they put it on a computer program which imitates an orchestra, THEN they actually get a real orchestra to perform it in the studio!)
It even comes with the music from the mini movie which is a bonus cos I love the music on Pikachu's Vacation, even though it is corny.
I'd get it even if I weren't a major Mewtwo worshipper. I just love the orchestral soundtracks! *waits for nonexistant third movie soundtrack* ^-^
So beutiful that words can't discribe it........2004-07-14
I have this Cd and it's hard to belive that this wonderful music didn't win any awards. Whats wrong with them just because it was made by the people from pokemon doesn't mean they don't work. It's like a priceless gem. If your a music fan or a pokemon fan or anyone I recomend this.
Contrived.......2003-05-29
How does this soundtrack deserve one star you ask? It's complex, but it is entire justified, seeing as Pokemon's popularity has died dramatically. This CD is one of the reasons why.
When Pokemon The First Movie came out, I had high hopes. This was the movie that would make or break Pokemon. Unfortunately, due to ridiculous script changes, bad voice acting, and a completely (and unreasonable) new soundtrack, the movie was ruined. So was Pokemon. The original score was dark, beautiful, and exciting. This one... well wasn't much of anything. I don't think people today understand how vital a soundtrack is to a movie. By removing the original soundtrack, they have removed any character and depth that the movie contained and replaced it with the blandness and superficiality of a "Batman" cartoon.
I honestly don't understand the reviews here. The music is bland and unexciting. And I certainly don't see in any way how this soundtrack is a lick better than the original Japanese soundtrack ("Birth of" CD Boxset, do try it!) One only needs to listen to the actual soundtrack found on that boxset, and realize how much better it is than this contrived junk.
The truth of the matter is, WB thought they could save a few bucks and pay one of their "Justice League" or "Jackie Chan Adventures" (one of those poorly rated and failed WB shows) synthesizers to conjure up some sort of soundtrack to fill in 70 minutes of movie time. Such filthy treatment of a franchise that had been so good to them is deplorable. Because the WB didn't take care of Pokemon, it went downhill.
Let it be known that the WB ruined Pokemon by being cheap, ineffective, and by robbing Pokemon of the premises that made it great, such as original music, script, and decent voice acting. 4Kids had the right idea to stick to as close to the Japanese as possible, but when WB came into the picture, the WB toiled and tampered with Pokemon making it more Americanized and contrived, and thus, the WB ruined the franchise. This CD is one of the factors, and the damage that it has caused is why this CD fails as a Pokemon product.
Mew's Theme is adorable!.......2003-04-17
I brought this cd because I love Pokemon the first movie and I think it has some wonderful music. My favorite track is by far Mew's Theme, even if it is only 30 seconds long. Mew is my favorite Pokemon and the song is very cute. If your a fan of the first Pokemon movie, this cd is a must.
Fianally!.......2002-09-08
Fianally they have made a CD of the actual score from the movie instead of that "inspired by..." stuff. Excellent!

I'm Assuming this is the Real Thing?.......2006-12-13
This is an awesome CD. Not only do I like to play the Game Boy games of Pokemon, but I also like the music. But I recently found out that I like the Japanese Pokemon albums better than I do the American albums. Sure, I love songs like "Viridian City" and "Double Trouble (Team Rocket)", but this one tops those songs alone. Rika Matsumado (Did I spell that right?) is a wonderful singer, even though I can't understand what she sings, but her voice is so strong. I have another Japanese CD that she sings on which I will review in a little bit, and her voice sounds a lot better on that one. I recommend this CD especially if you are a fan of Pokemon.
Pocket Monsters Otaku, Rejoice!!!.......2004-12-08
First and foremost, don't think it's "lame" just because it's "Pokemon." This is the Japanese version, and I treat it much differently than I do the dub. DON'T LET OTHERS FOOL YOU. There WERE changes to the English version. As for myself, I feel that the music [of the Japanese version] is very good. I just never get tired of listening to the songs on this cd! If you are Pocket Monsters fan, or even an open-minded Pokemon fan, get this cd.
Just Because It's Pokemon Doesn't Mean It's Bad..........2002-07-21
There are two entries for this album from two different manufacturers. One is a bootleg (I believe). This one is the real thing (I also believe). So I'm going to use the same review I used over on the other one. The review follows...
I'm going to admit to you one thing right off: I am a fan of Pokemon. But not ALL Pokemon. For example, the American anime is bad. The marketing to small children is bad (I'm not under 10, just so you know). The pure sickening merchandising and bundled music (on the American CDs) is bad. But I did not mention two things: The game (It's still great and unique, even if it is a little childish, but it's still great for trips) and the Japanese music. It is the Japanese music that I am concerned with here.
In my opinion, SOME (not all) of the Japanese Pokemon music is great. And ALL of it is better than the American music, in every single way. So for me to rate this album, I gave it 4 stars. Now to discuss each track:
1. Mezase Pokemon Master - A very nice rock piece sung by Rika Matsumoto (the voice of Satoshi/Ash in Japan) that was the music to the first opening in Japan. It's quite catchy, and I've managed to memorize most of the lyrics (and for good reason too. It's not bad.) If you've ever played Pokemon Pinball, you know that weird music that doesn't seem to fit in with the rest that's the capture music on the blue board? That's this track, except GameBoy-style.
2. Natsu Yasumi Fanclub - A kitchy kiddy piece that was used for the opening to Pikachu's Vacation (the sketch before Mewtwo Strikes Back) in Japan. Not bad, but it is a bit kiddy.
3. Hyaku Gojuu Ichi - The name means 151, just so you know. This is a strange song (But not the strangest. I'll get to that in a bit.) that was used for the first ending in Japan. It's interesting, and better than Natsu Yasumi Fanclub, but not TOO great.
4. Pokemon Kakerukana? - Another strange song much like Hyaku Gojuu Ichi. This song was used in a CD that was essentially used to give instructions on how to draw Pokemon. Yeah. Weird. But not as strange as the next song.
5. Utau Pokemon Zukan * Normal Pokemon Part 1 - I have yet to find anything from the CD that this came from, other than this track. It's an interesting ditty that is essentially the Japanese Pokedex, sung (That's what Utau Pokemon Zukan means, Singing Pokedex).
6. Rocket Dan Yo Eien Ni - For all you Team Rocket fans, this is the track you want. You remember the episode where Jigglypuff was first introduced? You remember the Rockets singing during that ep? Well this is that. But longer. And with the Japanese Rocket Motto thrown into the middle. Interesting, and another fairly good high point on the album. (Did you know that Musashi/Jessie is voiced (in Japan) by Megumi Hayashibara? If you know who that is, then you now know that she sings in this song.)
7. Pokemon Ierukana? - THIS is the weird song (well, and one more further down the line). Sung by Imakuni? (Yes, the question mark is part of his name). You know the Pokerap? Well, this is the Japanese Pokerap. Except not in rap. And not with the American names. You really don't want to know what types of music are in this. Due to its weirdness, this ranks up there as one of the more INTERESTING tracks of the CD. There's a version for Gold and Silver too (but not on this disc) named Pokemon Ierukana? neo.
8. Torikaekko Please - This song was used for a commercial in Japan (a lot of commercial songs are released as singles in Japan for some reason) and is essentially a song used to advertise Pokemon Trading Cards. The song has to do with Trading Pokemon Cards.
9. Pika Pika Massaichu - This one was the counterpart to Natsu Yasumi Fanclub. So it's the ending theme. It's also very kiddy.
10. Nyaasu no Uta - A very nice song (second ending in Japan) sung by Meowth. It's soft, slow, and almost sad. This might ALSO be because it's about Meowth singing about how lonely he is, as the only pokemon able to speak English/Japanese.
11. Kaze to Issho ni - The ending to Mewtwo Strikes Back. Very orchestral and grand. And very nice. Nearing the end, we're at the final high point of the album (that lasts through the next two tracks)
12. Mezase Pokemon Master '98 - Same song, new style. This song was used for the opening of Mewtwo Strikes Back. Just as good as the first version. (There are two other versions, used for the second Neo season, and the fourth movie)
13. Pokemon Ierukana Baby? - OK. You want weirdness again? One last time before this albums over! You get Ierukana again! But even stranger! This song is a bonus track only available on this album. The others were on singles.
So to sum it up, this CD is a very good one to start your forays into Japanese Pokemon music. It has its high points, and it has its low points. But it's MUCH better than anything released over here. There are other Singles you may want to find too (As this only covers releases through the first movie) including: OK! (The first Neo Opening song), Nyaasu no Party (Another ending song during the second half of the Orange Islands), toi et moi (Ending to Revelation Lugia, done by Namie Amuro. Good way to start getting into JPop, though not the best), and Ready Go! (The latest opening theme. As the latest movie and its singles have come out in Japan, this song (redone) is probably one the opening. I'm eager to hear it).
11 Promos including Mew? Ummmmm...... YES PLEASE!.......2000-03-14
I have to admit, when I first ordered this item all I cared about was the promos. But, when I slaped the CD in my CD player I was amazed and surprised! It actually sounded pretty cool? I'm the webmaster of the Cyber gym and I think that if your into Pokémon as much as I am, this CD is a MUST! The mew promo alone can run up to $60-$100! Plus you get 10 other Japanese promos and some are even Holofoil! So, slap down the 50 bucks and pick this up while there still around!
Pokemon Import CD w/ 11 Promo Cards.......2000-02-16
This is a great CD! The music is great, and the Promo cards are even better! I would give it a 5 stars, but it's pretty expensive.
