Album Description
A lively and energetic collection for children "that youngsters can play repeatedly without driving their parents nuts in the process." Old favorites, original music, French and Hebrew traditional songs and toe-tapping fiddle tunes are presented with "disarming goofiness," "rich vocals and inventive arrangements," and a mostly non-synthesized sound, relying heavily on guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, percussion, bass and drums. Children's voices are heard throughout the CD. Musical styles include Celtic, Appalachian, Klezmer, French-Acadian, and Rockabilly. The eclectic nature of the music reflects the backgrounds of the singers, Sandy Greenberg and Thomas Cormier, and also the musical influences of their home in Nova Scotia, Canada. The CD has won a Parents' Choice Recommended seal, finalist status in the Children's Music Web Awards (www.childrensmusic.org), and an East Coast Music Awards nomination.

    Album Description

WINNER of the EAST COAST MUSIC AWARD 2003 for "Children's Recording of the Year" and NOMINATED in the Children's Music category of the CANADIAN INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARDS 2002, "Suitcase full of Songs" vibrates with many different styles of music. You will hear guitar, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica, accordian, piano, wooden spoons, banjo, shakers, hand drums, and rub-board, often accompanied by bass and drums. We're pleased to include musical traditions such as Klezmer, Cajun/Zydeco, Appalachian, Latin Percussion, and Blues in this group of original and traditional songs. Along with the English songs, we've included songs in French, Hebrew, and Yiddish. Children also participated in this project, including our son and daughter. We thank everyone for their contributions. From front-porch country banjo to pizzicato violin minuet, from blues to a square dance, from waltz to Klezmer, from calypso to Cajun, this suitcase full of songs is our gift to you.

    Enjoy! Sandy and T.C.
