I love this cd albumn. I love it that Donnie McClurkin and the choir sings in so many different languages! I love the beat and the energy in each song. This is another spiritually uplifting cd, so joyful.....it's a joy to praise God with these songs. The spirit is truly with Donnie and this choir. I give God all the praise for this albumn!

This CD has a nice mix of hymns, praise songs and traditional songs from the black church. Both CD's are good, but i do prefer the first one. Favorite songs include:

the last 2 songs on the 2nd CD.

Donnie McClurkin is very talented and I will be purchasing more of his music!

    I was privileged to see Larnelle Harris perform this album LIVE at The Chapel in Akron, OH. This would have been 1992 (I was 14) It was something I will never forget. He was absolutely amazing. The song "Didn't You Know" brought me to tears, just as it did for others. I cannot say enough for this album, it's fantastic.

    If you're a Larnelle fan and you don't own this album, I'd be truly surprised!!! It's a must have for anyone who enjoys music!

    This is one for anybody who likes good Gospel music. Larnelle really shines in this CD. You won't want to miss out on this one. My favorite song on the CD is I can be Glad. It really is how it feel to be a Christian, but sometimes we forget.

    Being a Christian truly has some wonderful perks and this is one of them.An astonishing collection of Hymns and Spiritual songs performed live by my all time favorite gospel male singer.The sound quality is nothing short of state of the art audiophile quality.Highly recommended to all God loving people especially those who love the Lord Jesus,you will never regret it.

    Larnelle Harris' voice is awe-inspiring on this album. Because it's a live album, you also catch the "fever" of the audience in between tracks. How fortunate those people were to hear the plaintive "Didn't You Know" (which moves me to tears) and the upbeat "All In Favor" (which makes me want to dance) live--with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir backing up this gifted singer!

    The few minor flaws in the album (an uninspired rendition of "Were You There" and the cringe-worthy moment when Mr. Harris says it's good to be in Brooklyn "tab") are more than compensated for by the overall quality of this album.

    If you enjoy gospel music, do yourself a favor and purchase this amazing album!

    I have been a Larnelle Harris fan since the 1980s. He is one of my all time favorite male vocalists and I was lucky enough to attend one of his concerts in 1992. He has such an amazing voice. This is a very enjoyable cd. Most of the songs are great. I especially love the lyrics to the song "Open Door", "Let's make our hearts an open door, inviting every race, embracing rich and poor, God's Kingdom will grow like it never has before, when we make our hearts an open door". What a great message.

      Their magnificent vocal talents combined with a rare level of musical artistry and a deep sensitivity to the depth of meaning found in their wide repetoire of hymns and sacred songs, made a Hale & Wilder program an unforgetable experience for the multiplied thousands priveledged enough to hear them in concert.

      A series of more than fifteen recordings shared the joy of Hale and Wilder music across the world. Their recordings were put out of print and - until now - have never been available in digital sound on compact discs.

      5 out of 5 stars The Best of Sacred Duets.......2001-06-21

      The CD opens with a brief orchestra intro of "Thy Name O Jesus be Forever Blessed" (very brief), and then seamlessly leads into the beautiful words of Charles Wesley's immortal hymn, "And Can It Be That I Should Gain" ("Amazing Love"). The stanzas of the hymn are interspered with brief reprisals of the first melody. This is truly a grand opening to a CD that marks the return of these two great singers.

      This CD includes a selection of hymns, reverent Gospel songs, and one or two psalter-type pieces (Bible passages set to music). The blending of the two voices of Hale & Wilder, of course, is excellent. They have never really been equaled among Christian soloists and duet partnerships. Probably the best song that makes the most of their harmony is "My Jesus, I Love Thee," though it is difficult to choose a single best song in any category.

      In most of the selections, they do not simply harmonize together through the entire song. Each lets the other sing part of the selection, and then their voices come together. The arrangements certainly allow each artist to perform at his best, and the duet sections are all the more powerful for that. "Morning Trumpet" is one such song, and Hale and Wilder capture the rhythm and simplicity of this old Southern Spiritual, yet also elevate it with a certain majesty.

      I have two favorites: first, "O Thou In Whose Presence." This song is not as well known as other hymns, but if you have ever heard it performed, you know it has excellent content. And they certainly give it full justice with a reverent, soft style of singing and gentle harmonizing. The other that I like best, also not as well known as some, is "Sing a Song of Sharon's Rose."

      A few of the songs use multiple-instrument accompaniments, but most are accompanied only by piano, perhaps piano and organ, and the musical accompaniment is as lovely and vital as the two voices of these great artists. Ovid Young certainly deserves a lot of credit for the perfect musical style that he gave to these songs.

      Overall, the recording quality is good. Every now and then (like in two or three places, in two or three of the songs) I could hear a slight "pop" or "skip". Maybe a hardcore audiophile would be offended by this, but overall I was amazed that such old recordings were digitally remastered so well. For the most part, the sound quality is excellent.

      I am delighted that Hale and Wilder are available on CD. Sacred music enthusiasts longing for meaningful music, sensitively rendered, will treasure this CD

            This CD is exhilarating and spiritually uplifting.It is a superb collection of music that suits different musical tastes and is well done. I can't stop playing it. I am going to purchase more copies to give to my friends

            This CD is awesome. With each song you will feel uplifted, inspired and encouraged. It is wonderful to hear these two choirs coming together as one. How wonderful it is to be able to hear one CD that has a song for what ever mood I am in.

            "Faith" is a collection of familiar inspirational favorites that will captivate, refresh, and lift your spirits. Mary Beth's impassioned piano performance has become a signature sound throughout the country and she is accompanied on this CD by world class orchestration, blended together to truly inspire. A legacy of faith lives on in worship through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs and Mary Beth brings the beauty of the message and music to life in this CD.

            The collection consists of several of the most requested and most beautiful inspirational songs by Mary Beth from her previous CD's. These are combined with many brand new arrangements of songs of faith. And topping off the collection is a beautiful original composition by Mary Beth.

            One of the things I enjoy most whenever Mary Beth releases a new CD collection is to listen to her original compositions. And "Faith" offers another new beautiful composition by Mary Beth. The introduction is the melody of the familiar hymn "The Lord's My Shepherd". This leads into "I Live to Follow You" composed by Mary Beth. The words and inspiration are Mary Beth's personal response to the 23rd Psalm. While the CD includes only the beautiful music of the composition, the liner notes include the lyrics. The lyrics are a beautiful testament to the faith we have in our Savior and as Mary Beth states in the liners notes:

            "With a new song in my heart, I give thanks to my Lord and Savior, the author and perfecter of our faith."

            It's always most difficult to single out favorites from all of the beautiful songs on a CD by Mary Beth but my favorites of the new arrangements on "Faith" are "My Jesus I Love Thee" / "Amazing Grace" and "For the Beauty of the Earth" / "To a Wild Rose". The combinations of the pieces and the interpretation which Mary Beth brings to the numbers are unique and very beautiful.

            Among my favorites of the numbers from previous CD's by Mary Beth are "In the Garden" / "I Need Thee Every Hour", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", "How Great Thou Art", and "Beautiful Savior". While each of these pieces has been recorded many times by others, Mary Beth brings a fresh and welcome approach to the music through her own arrangements and interpretation.

            "Faith" is another beautiful and inspirational collection of music by Mary Beth. We all need to continually renew our faith and this collection will help do that through the inspiration it gives.
