Within the span of three releases, Jeremy Camp has quickly established himself as one of the powerful "voices" in Christian music. Since day one, Camp's powerful vocal presence has been enabled, in part, by his own strong songwriting and outstanding studio production. Restored follows along these lines offering a number of solid tracks that will no doubt continue to fuel Camp's ascension. The opening title track may be the strongest rocker on the release and a likely standout single with "Lay Down My Pride" a close second. The majority of the album features mid-tempo pop and softer ballads, casting a duller sonic pall over Camp's previous work. That's not to say this is unworthy of a good listen as "Take You Back," "Be The One," and "My Desire" are equally appealing. Ironically, Camp's best strength (powerhouse baritone voice) may be his biggest weakness on Restored. If there are any drawbacks here it may be Camp's limited range that, over the course of a full release, could make the listener a bit weary. Ultimately nothing here is earth shattering, it is yet another solid step of maturity for Camp and a release that will please his fans while making a few new ones in the process. --Michael Lyttle

Oh my gosh!.......2007-05-21
Oh my gosh! This album makes me melt inside when I listen to it. Its so romantic towards God. Jeremy Camp really loves Jesus and you can feel it when you listen to this album. I listen to it at work, school and home. Its the only album I can agree on with my co-workers and and my family. The music is so beautiful and his voice is awsome. The lyics are unbelievable! Oh, it just reminds me of the relationship I want with God.
I could listen to his voice all day..........2007-01-09
His voice is so beautiful, and his music is a mixture of almost a hard rock and Christian together. The Amazon Editorial Review does this CD no justice. His music, I think, surpasses the `Stay' CD. The tracks I like most are #2, 9 & 10, but almost all of these songs could be put on the radio instead of the select few they do.
It pumps the radio, the vocal chords, and the heart with the message he is singing about. Simply put, his music is simply wonderful.
this CD is awesome..........2006-11-13
every single song is good, and I'm not one to normally say that. Most CDs I like 4-5 songs and even skip past the others...not this one. This guy is so gifted and the songs are so good both musically and lyrically. I didn't discover Jeremy Camp 'til a friend gave me his unplugged CD; don't listen to Christian radio so never heard of him. After I gave it a chance I realized his music goes right to the heart and speaks to me like almost nothing else. This is one of my all-time favorite CDs and I'm very picky.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this CD.......2006-09-28
I was at the Christian bookstore shoping for my wife and the front counter had this album on sale for $5. Not one who spends a lot of time listening to music I recognized the artist but none of the songs.
I'm so glad I picked it up.
Great lyrics focused on a surrendered life that recognizes God's provision and power. Just the kind of thing we need to remind ourselves of more often!
The truth of the words sung with catchy semi-rock melodies pull you in and allow the listener to close their eyes and just imagine releasing all to the Lord Almight.
The quality and sound of the music is top-notch, nothing hokey here. Great mixing.
The few times I've dished out money for a CD I've had a rule that I need to really like at least 3 of the 10 songs on a disc. I like REALLY like 10 of the 12 songs on this album.
I look forward to his newest release coming out October 2006. Thanks Jeremy for a great album that I actually use for worship.
Even when I wrote my life away You still receive me!.......2006-06-29
Only slightly disappointed, I think I had my expectations for this CD too high. After LOVING "Stay" and "Carried Away," I was hoping this CD would once again raise the bar for Jeremy Camp. What I found instead is a satisfying album that doesn't seem to challenge him. It seems kind of safe. While there are excellent tracks (Take You Back, Even When, My Desire, Letting Go, This Man, and Lay Down My Pride), they seem to be sound similar in their style, whereas Camp has been known to incorporte different styles in his music (Lay Down My Pride is the only track that seems truly "rock," although "Restored" and "Breathe" are good midtempo songs). This album seems to be more radio-friendly for Camp, which I understand now that Camp has such popularity, he has more pressure to make songs that fit into the CCM mold. However, I am afraid that will begin to chip away at his individuality in the Christian market. Don't get me wrong. This is a 4+ album with moments of greatness. I just hope that the next album, Camp will mature into the truly great artist that he has the potential of becoming.

Something about it..........2005-09-27
There's something about Aeoliah (and this CD in particular) that I find particularly relaxing, soothing, even euphoric. I have a rather large collection of "new age" music, and it's rare that any of it affects me the way this music does. When I put on the headphones and listen, I find myself not so much listening to the music as absorbing it. Soon, I'm in a sort of twilight state where the concerns of the world are left behind completely. I can't emphasize enough how rare it is that music affects me this way -- it need not be listened to "actively" the way a lot of music requires in order to enjoy it. I do recommend headphones for this music -- just put them on, and (although best listened to while relaxing in bed or on a comfortable chair/couch with no distractions) there's no need to concentrate on the music. Just relax and allow Zen Peace to carry you away.
My highest recommendation -- 5 stars.

All I can say is Wow!.......2007-01-14
This is the first Jeremy Camp CD I have bought. Since buying it, I have kept it in my car's CD player and Ipod (listening to it everywhere and anywhere I go). The songs have the tendency to move me and I can't hardly ever get most of them out of my head. Although I think all of these songs are great, my favorites are Restored, Take You Back, Lay Down My Pride, My Desire, and This Man. If you haven't gotten this CD yet, I highly recommend it.
Restored has been 'restored'!.......2006-04-05
If you liked his restored CD, as did I, you will obviously like this one. The only catch is that you will probably like this one better!! This JC disc has all the same songs from the first 'Restored' disc, plus four, count them, FOUR NEW TRACKS. Two of those tracks are new ones written by Mr. Camp, and two are worship songs covered by Mr. Camp.
If that wasn't enough, inside the cover are not only the lyrics for the songs, but an intimate revelation from Jeremy of his meaning behind the music.

David Lean's extraordinary widescreen dramatization of T. E. Lawrence's odyssey into Arabian culture is among the most ambitious and exalted of screen epics, rich in visual splendor, historic detail, psychological nuance, and exemplary performances. Count French composer Maurice Jarre among the stars, for his single line main theme has become among the most instantly recognizable in screen music, evoking the vast sweep of the desert horizons with a perfect synthesis of the exotic and the romantic. As a musical reflection of the English Lawrence's own romantic fascination with Arabian culture, Jarre's overture and various film cues make this an enduring classic. --Sam Sutherland
Customer Reviews:
One of the greatest scores ever!.......2004-07-24
Maurice Jarre's Academy Award Winning score to "Lawrence of Arabia" is pure delight. It contains great music from the film and sounds excellent. If you're looking for the soundtrack to the film, get the original and avoid the newer re-recordings by Tony Bremner which sound nothing like the Original.
Any Reviews For This Particular CD?.......2004-05-17
I was looking for reviews for this particular CD and all I see are reviews for the DVD. Oh, well. I didn't rate this CD with a single star--Amazon forced me to put something there. Again with the "oh, well."
moon and stars.......2002-09-26
This cd is a beautiful thing. The music captures both the english and arabic characterisitics of the movie. However not the character of Lawrence, which would be ,like lasooing the moon and stars and putting them in a little box..... the movie scratches only the surface of the being in question not giving him justice , making him too much a hero, (he was a human with failures) . However his being described by himself in 7 pillars as "a crystal, many facets) he cannot be caught up in any space or described adequately with music. But the music hints at the exquisiteness of his spirit.
A Masterpiece.......2000-03-08
"Lawrence of Arabia," one of the most compelling character studies ever captured on film, is the story of T.E. Lawrence, the eccentric British officer who united the bedouin tribes of Arabia against the Turks in World War I. The story unfolds in the haunting beauty of the vast, harsh, and unforgiving deserts of the Middle East.
Maurice Jarre, through eloquent musical composition, gives voice to both the man and the desert. Lawrence was a man conflicted by personal ambition and a romantic image of the Arab cause. Jarre's crisp, syncopated musical rhythms vividly portray the exotic Arabian culture that so appealed to Lawrence. The majestic moments of the score, however, are reserved for the desert. Jarre's sweeping orchestrations blend with David Lean's expansive visual images to evoke the raw, physical power of the desert. This unforgettable synergy of sight and sound is perhaps the finest ever recorded on film.
The music on this CD is not presented in the exact sequence in which it appeared in the movie. It is of small consequence. I have collected soundtracks from numerous motion pictures over the past 40 years. This is one of the finest musical scores in my collection.
Should be on everyone's top ten soundtrack list.......1999-07-08
Jarre's music from "Lawrence" to "Witness" to westerns and other epics show that classical music hasn't died, it just changed form. Check out his son, Jean Michel Jarre, who is also considered a national treasure in France.

Customer Reviews:
The most "listenable" of the Bix Restored series.......2005-10-28
In a way, I'm sorry to see the final volume of the "Bix Restored" series finally hit the music store shelves. With each installment that has come out, I've eagerly awaited the next. What to wait for now? Well, my hat is off to the fine folks at Sunbeam/Origin Jazz Library for a spectacular end to a spectacular series!
Unlike the previous four volumes which contained three CDs each, the fifth and final installment contains only one disc. The disc was planned to demonstrate the "Bix influence" in recordings by other musicians. However, the producers changed the playlist to include *three* (count 'em, three!) newly discovered alternate takes featuring Bix. According to the notes, these represent the first major Bix discoveries since the 1970s. And what beauties they are. Bix is only briefly heard in the first of the three, "Old Man River," but his remarkable solo in "Futuristic Rhythm" and a short part in "Raisin' The Roof" (both with Frankie Trumbauer's Orchestra) are worth the price of the disc alone. Fortunately for us, the producers adopted a "cost is not an issue" attitude towards restoring the sound of these newly discovered alternates. Apparently, the originals were either cracked or severly worn. With that in mind, the finished quality on the CD is quite impressive (even if a few minor flaws remain).
The rest of the disc contains 23 recordings from the 1920s and 1930s that capture the Beiderbecke "essence." I was impressed with the Bix-like cornet or trumpet-playing on many of them, especially those by Fletcher Henderson's Band (Rex Stewart), Duke Ellington's Orchestra (again, Rex Stewart), Hal Kemp's Orchestra (Mickey Bloom), the Night Club Kings (Norman Payne), and Ray Miller's Orchestra. For the Ray Miller track, the identity of the Bix-like cornetist is unknown, but many have speculated through the years that it may have been Bix himself. As a side note, the recording of Fletcher Henderson's Orchestra playing "Singin' The Blues," with Rex Stewart copying the famous Bix solo, is the version recorded for Victor, NOT the more commonly heard Brunswick recording made a few weeks earlier.
Other tracks of particular interest to me were Red Norvo's beautiful rendition of "In A Mist" (on marimba), Bing Crosby's Bix-like scat on "Sweet Sue," Hoagy Carmichael's hard-to-find original 1927 Gennett recording of "Stardust," and what must certainly count as among the "hottest" sides Nat Shilkret ever directed, "Add A Little Wiggle."
As with the previous Bix Restored volumes, this CD comes with a nice booklet (24 pages) with plenty of illustrations, notes by Bix expert Richard Sudhalter, and full discographical information for each track. I was happy to see that they even included label scans for the three newly-discovered Bix alternates, so we can see what these rarities look like.
This is really a first-rate production all-around. The audio restoration by Michael Kieffer, John R. T. Davies, and Seth Winner is excellent. The pacakging attractive and the music absolutely top-notch. To me, this is the most "listenable" disc of the Bix Restored series. Previous volumes contained multiple takes of the same Whiteman semi-classical pieces in a row. It's nice to have them for comparison, but when I put on a CD to listen to in the car or while working at home, I don't need to hear "Metropolis" twice in a row or "It Was The Dawn of Love" three times in a row. I'm not complaining--I'm glad they presented the complete recordings and alternates in chronological order, it makes finding titles easier, but it can be a bit tiring on the ears. This fifth volume, on the other hand, contains a nice variety of jazz and dance band sides, pleasantly programmed with no back-to-back alternate takes of the same piece. I've played this disc straight through a dozen times already and it doesn't get tiring.
Even though there are only three tracks that feature Bix, this is a collection that is sure to delight Bix fans. Highly recommended!

Impressive collection.......2006-01-17
Geez, who is this ignoramus below? John, first of all, no "master tapes" for the recordings on this disc exist. These early sessions of Bix were made in the mid-1920s, a full 20-25 years before the use of magnetic tape in commercial recording studios. Everything on this set was originally recorded directly to wax discs, from which metal masters, mothers, stampers, and eventually commercial shellac pressings were made. In the eighty years since, many of the metal parts have either vanished, been destroyed, or corroded to the point where the best source material has become the commercial pressings themselves--and as any collector will tell you, many of the original recordings on this set are quite rare, and to hear them in any condition is a treat. To top it off, most of the recordings here were made acoustically, with the musicians performing into a horn that funneled the sound waves to a vibraring stylus that etched grooves in that wax disc. Not eactly high fidelity! Having said that, the remastering on this set really is superb, in many cases, these are the best transfers of this material I've ever heard (and as a big-time Bix fan, I've heard quite a few!). Not only are all of the master takes here, but every known surviving alternate as well.
Very few cornet solos on the first disc!!?? Buddy, you need to get your ears checked. Bix lets out quite a few hot cornet solos in his recordings with the Wolverines--not to mention his legendary solo on Goldkette's recording of "I Didn't Know." True, Bix is sometimes lost in the later Goldkette recordings, but that doesn't diminish their importance.
When you consider that the Hot Fives and Hot Sevens collection is only twenty-five dollars, it becomes obvious that the publishers of *those* discs should be put in jail! The Hot Fives and Hot Sevens were put out by JSP, a private British label well-known for bootlegging other reissues. They get away with it because other small reissue labels that put forth the money and time to restore these old recordings can't afford to take JSP to court for reusing their remasterings without permission or compensation. In a very few instances, JSP originated the remasterings, but even so, JSP pays no royalties to song composers, no mechanical licenses for the use of songs, and does not license any of the vintage recordings it releases. When you cut corners and steal materials, it's no wonder JSP can make their sets so cheap! And don't get started about how the Hot Fives and Hot Sevens sound better than this set. That's a result of the original recordings themselves, not the reissue sound engineer (who, ironically is the same for both sets, John R. T. Davies). The Hot Fives and Hot Sevens were recorded mostly for OKeh, known in the 1920s for having one of the best recording systems in the business, and superior-quality pressings. Many of Bix's earliest recordings (especiallly those on Disc 1 here) were made for tiny Gennett, known for having one of the crudest recording systems coupled with mediocre-quality pressings. When comparing the two, of course Armstrong's OKeh 78s will sound cleaner and clearer.
Meanwhile, as someone who has produced half-a-dozen CD reissues myself, I can tell you that doing so doesn't come cheap at all--especially not for a set like this. Finding clean copies of the recordings, making decent transfers, doing the restoration, licensing the songs and recordings, researching and writing the liner notes, and printing and pressing the whole package is incredibly time-consuming and costly. To make matters worse, the relatively narrow appeal of this set (only libraries or die-hard Bix fans) means that relatively few copies will be sold--perhaps only a thousand, maybe two or three (most buyers will undoubtedly opt for simple one or two disc sets without all the alternates). Simple economic forces are at work here; the set was expensive to produce, relatively few will be sold, thus each set will be somewhat expensive. Heck, you think this is expensive, check out the Bix & Tram Mosaic set! Better yet, I dare you to find clean original copies of all of the 78s on this set for the same price. In all liklihood, in today's collector market, you couldn't do the latter for under $20,000. When you put it into perspective, this set is really quite a bargain. Furthermore, knowing the way the reissue business works, I seriously doubt that the people behind this production are making much money--if any--on it. It's clearly a labor of love, not a get-rich-scheme. Believe me, there are far easier ways to make money out there.
For the record, I have no connection with Sunbeam or Origin Jazz Library--I'm just an extremely satisfied customer. I have all five volumes of Bix Restored, and while I favor some above others, all are winners. If I had to pick a single favorite, it would probably be this one, Volume 1. If you like Bix, there's really no other choice. The Bix here is young, enthusiastic, and a little wild. His playing is already brilliant, and I find the Wolverines, Trumbauer, and Goldkette settings here to provide more satisfying jazz accompaniment to Bix's cornet than Whiteman's band on the later discs. If you like Bix, get this set. You won't be sorry.
A Rip Off.......2004-03-30
The title, Bix Restored, is a bit illusive, unless by "restored" you mean dragging the master tapes around behind a truck over broken glass.
As for the music, very few cuts on the first couple CD's even have a cornet solo!
When you consider that the Hot Fives and Sevens collection is only twenty five dollars it becomes obvious that these publishers should be put in jail for charging this much dough.
A Rosetta Stone of Jazz.......2002-11-15
Ranks immedietly with the complete Dial sessions of Parker and the complete Hot Fives & Sevens of Louis Armstrong. A wonderfully mastered and thoughtfully arranged presentation.
Jolly Good Jazz.......2002-02-11
For those truly love early Jazz from the roots of Ragtime, and Bix Beiderbecke's valuable contributions to this art form, this album is a must! It is pure Jazz joy! Having the different takes of the same pieces to compare is wonderful. Through these you can clearly hear and feel Bix's improvisation skills at work. The two takes of Slow River are excellent examples of playing what he feels at the moment. They are both marvelous. The vocal music is fun to hear too. The vocals by the Keller Sisters on Sunday cuts are archetypal, and bring visions of Betty Boop dancing in my head when I listen to them. The re-mastering work done by John R.T. Davies and Micheal Kieffer is superb. This very jolly music, and is a "must have" album set for Bixophiles.

Customer Reviews:
Pleasing introduction.......2000-07-13
After my first encounter with Chinese opera (in the film "Farewell my Concubine") I naturally wished to familiarise myself better with this musical genre. This is why I immediately pounced upon this introductory CD as soon as I saw it. The excerpts are all rather interesting, although I found the latter two a bit short. Since this kind of opera may seem a bit strange and unfamilar to westerners, it seemed to me that the best way was to provide listeners with lenghty, continuous excerpts, which is exactly what the first one, from "The Peony Pavilion", is. This was later confirmed as I got hold of, and listened to, a complete version of this work.
In general, the performers on this CD are good, sometimes, however, I felt that the sound could have been clearer (whether this was due to the recording process or the singing itself I'm not certain). There is also a refreshing variety in both the performers, and the different kinds of chinese opera (Kunqu, Sichuan, etc.) from which the excerpts are taken. On the whole a good introduction which may lead to further exploration in this field.
