About the Artist
Since she was a little girl, Lora Knight has been entertaining herself and others with her inherent musical talents. Now a mother herself, Lora, with the help of her equally talented sister Julie Klug, is sharing her musical gifts with others by recording a lullaby CD. Area audiences have been entertained by the "Spangler girls" on area stages throughout their high school years and college years at Indiana University. Julie is now a pianist in Cincinnati and Lora has appeared in musicals with the Toledo Repertory Theatre, Croswell Opera House in Adrian, Michigan, and with the local Fountain City Festival.

While the musical talent and expertise for the CD was abundant, logistics of the recording were somewhat difficult. Julie, an arranger, composer, and pianist, lives in Cincinnati. Her husband Roger plays guitar on two songs and assists Ken Richer in the production; friends from Cincinnati provide the instrumentals. Knowing from the beginning she wanted song selections from Broadway musicals, Lora researched on the internet. The more familiar of the 12 pieces on the CD are "Baby Mine" from Dumbo; "Till There Was You" from Music Man; and "Come to My Garden" from Secret Garden, "...my favorite musical," Lora says. Although it will be sold in baby shops, "It's not just for babies or mothers," Lora says. "It's very relaxing music."

Album Description
Here is a collection of lullabies with no gimmicks, no special effects, no synthesizers, and no celebrities - simply a beautiful set of songs inspired by a mother's love and a love for musical theater. Lora Knight provides the beautiful, heartfelt vocals on top of the sweetly crafted arrangements, provided by piano, strings, woodwinds, and guitar. The twelve songs, spanning eras of musical theater and popular music, include "Come To My Garden" from The Secret Garden, "Till There Was You" from The Music Man, and a few Disney favorites, such as "Baby Mine" and "Feed The Birds". There is also an original song written by Lora and her sister, "Heaven's Gift". Although the subtitle of Sleepy Babe is "Songs for Babies and Mothers", these songs are definitely for everyone to enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars Music is glorious!.......2002-11-14

For mothers and their babies? How about fathers too? This lullaby CD alone is good for anyone who just wants the mellow sounds of music and melancholy. Lora's beautiful voice meshes pefectly with the light sounds of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. Most of the songs are entranced with soft sounds of piano and strings. Lora's voice along with the music selection is very enticing. Single parents with children along with others will dive into this one. The lullabies are all well known, and one track was written by Lora herself. If you want a relaxing CD, this is the way to go. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Sleepy Babe is truly a MUST-HAVE for you and your children!!.......2002-11-13

This CD is absolutely fabulous from the beginning to the end, from Lora's beautiful voice to the lovely piano accompanyment. Lora Knight's voice is right up there with Sara Brightman's!! Track 11, New Words, will bring tears to your eyes as it did mine. Ms. Knight's thoughtfulness in sharing her incredible voice and songs is our gain and Broadway's biggest loss!

"Have you heard Lora Knight's new "Sleepy Babe" CD?" That was the buzz at choir. The CD, not just for babies, is great listening music for everyone. The selections of songs on the album are tastefully selected from show tunes and a few surely will bring back memories. Don't miss this CD by vocalist Lora Knight, the first of many albums we can expect from this talented artist.

5 out of 5 stars It got my kids to sleep!.......2002-11-12

The music on this CD is not only beautiful, but it also works! I had two very tired boys who needed a little help to take a nap one afternoon so I popped this CD in and they were out before the third song ended. It helped them get some much needed sleep and gave me some much needed silence!
