Stacie Orrico

As a precocious 14-year-old, Stacie Orrico made her music biz debut with Genuine, a remarkably soulful release that went gold without much fanfare other than that generated by a limited supporting role on tour with Destinys Child. Now all of 16, Orrico shows more youthful moxy in a self-titled collection of upbeat pop and more R&B-influenced tracks. Her expressive vocals continue to belie the fact that shes merely a teenager, as she draws inspiration from idols ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to Lauryn Hill. Orrico also co-wrote eight of her releases 12 tracks, including hit single "Stuck," an ode to school-age love. Certainly Orrico leans heavy on the talents of producers Tedd T, Dallas Austin, and the Underdogs, who combine to give the exuberant youngster a silky-smooth sound. But for critics who would label Orrico as another propped-up teen artist, check out her starkly revealing ballad "Strong Enough," which shows us a young girl on the edge seeking wholeness in her spirituality. That genuineness, combined with a wealth of vocal talent, makes Stacie Orrico someone to watch. Michael Lyttle

Once again!.......2007-07-09
I have been a stacie orrico fan since her debut album "Genuwine" so I felt like I've watched her grow and her voice has definitely matured (although it was great before.)Stacie has R&B influences and her voice is very soulful so the pop tracks dont do her voice justice to me.So really the singles shoudlnt have been singles in my opinion. I think her singles should've been these songs "Bounce back" "Maybe I wont look back", What Love's About", "Security" and "Strong Enough." With songs like "Instead" she brings back the rock vibe. "Hestitation" has sort of a techno dance vibe. THe others are very brittney spears pop "Stuck", "Promise" "More To life." However the remixes of those song bring the r&b vibe back. This album is great though, But I also recommend you getting her debut (which is my fav album of all time) and her Christmas album. Props to stacie!!
Power Player-.......2007-04-12
I have listened to the song "More To Life" on the radio for a couple years and thought it a terrific song - after finally buying the CD, I found the whole thing to be really terrific, especially the first "half" of the song list (the songs tend to sound a little alike after you've listened for a while). "Stuck" is one that I play over and over - Here's the rub; I only heard the song "More To Life" on Christian radio, so I was surprised to learn that the CD is not all Christian tunes - not a huge problem for me, but I was expecting something a little different - so if you're expecting all Christian tunes on this album, you won't get it - still, a great effort by a terrific young talent -
GREAT GREAT.......2007-03-21

The Best Pop Album.......2007-01-02
a got this CD whe it first came out, when me and my friends where in our "loven' pop music" stage. I just recently took this Cd back out, due to some strange need to use my old CD player and listen to the CD's i got when i was 9.(i'm 12) i went though it, I had then realized how great this album is.It is not your Typical bubblegum Mainstream pop, it has a cool R&B/Pop flavor to it, plus, most of the songs a have a wounderful Chistain Massage.
1.Stuck 8/10- Very catchy but i got tired of this song very Quickly. it is, though a good enough song not to skip over.
2.(There's Gotta Be) More to life 9.99/10- a great message, very catchy, and all aroung very appealing song. took the .1 off because people tend to play it over and over and over.
3.Bounce Back 9/10- It sorta bores me sometimes, but it is a good song, it can really catch you.
4.I Promise 6/10- nice slow song, but it really bores me. it is calming, though.
5.Security 10/10- I love this song!!The Lyrocs are amazing this song is very inspireing.
6.Instead 100/10- This is mt favrite song on the album! i love it , it has such a good beat and a great massage! This is a really great song!!
7.Hesitation 10/10- one of those songs that makes you feel good to be alive. very refreshing.
8.Strong Enough 9/10- a good song, but not my favroite.
9.I Could Be the one 10/10- upbeat and fun, very addicting. it is almost impossible not to like, even for the Pop-haters.
10.Maybe I Won't look Back 10/10- i really like this song very easy to realate to.
11.Tight 10/10- very fun and ubeat dance song.
12.That's what Love's about 8/10- A Nice song.
Pretty decent stuff.......2006-11-11
Christian-bred Stacie Orrico leaps into her first secular album (and second overall) of the same name confidently, if not a bit on the generic side. Sleeper hit "Stuck" became one of 03's bigger singles and deservedly so. SO is R&B-tinged pop so to non-pop music fans it sounds pretty much like everything else on Top 40 radio--but that's a bit harsh of a judgement to make. Though it's been overproduced like most of its kind at the time Stacie's fluid and agile singing skills put her album in the same category of Christina more than Britney (despite possessing a similar schoolgirl pout). Second single (and a better listen than "Stuck") "More to Life" became a bigger hit in 03 and its Christian-tinged message sounded true amidst the pop musings of a sexually-charged Britney Spears. Promise of more potential hits are harder to find after those first two instant hits, though "Hesitation" comes pretty close. It's not a perfect listen--but moments like "Stuck," "More to Life," "Hestiation" and piano ballad "Strong" keep it fresh.

At the tender age of 14, Stacie Orrico is poised to become an influential voice of her generation; her debut release Genuine not only unveils a dazzling voice, but it radiates her generation's slick, urban pop cool. Discovered at a Christian artist seminar in 1998, Stacie was signed to Forefront Records at age 12 and has been working with industry heads, fashioning a career since. The songs on this project speak honestly and practically to Stacie's peer group about issues of Christian living, and its urban flair fits right into the mix of mainstream radio. Competing side by side with the likes of Britney Spears, Stacie's first single, the groove-heavy "Don't Look at Me," points to Christ as the only true example of perfection and virtue. This infusion of God's truth into today's urban pop brings a refreshing perspective. --Israel Button

Ride.......2007-07-09
This is the best album I own. I am stacie orrico's #1 fan! I first heard her genuine album, when i was 12, we're both the same age. I didnt know who she was when i bought it I just saw the beautiful cover and was curious as to what her album sounded like. I purchased it and fell in love with her voice. This is how I rate the songs out of 10:
Ride 10/10 lots of r&b flavor (timbaland/aaliyah sound)
Dont look at me 7/10 a bit of rock/pop (brittney spears type of sound)
O.O. Baby 10/10 (my fav song) very r$b/hip hop
Without Love 7/10 pop
Stay True 8/10 very sassy..pop
Interlude --very cute
Genuine 9/10...r&b/pop great message
With a little faith 7/10
Confidant 9/10 jazzy
So Pray 9/10 cute and r&b/gospel vibe

Dear Friend(13/10)A song that came from her heart and she wrote it her self which I really admire.
Genuinely Great.......2007-01-20
When Stacie Orrico entered my musical palette, I was forever changed. At last, here was a fresh, young singer with an amazing voice and a musical sound that was exactly what I wanted to hear. Although my tastes have dramatically changed over the years, Orrico's debut album of silky-smooth R&B grooves and pop anthems that rivals the best teen pop of the day continues to make its way to my CD player from time to time.
The first impact Orrico makes is her voice. It is amazingly strong and assured for a then 14-year old, with a bold, gospel-like vibrato that fits well with the soulful production. Songs like "Ride" and "With A Little Faith" are cookout-friendly jams, while "So Pray" and "Genuine," are certain to induce feet-tapping from the most fickle of listeners. Coupled with clean, spiritual lyrics that are parent-approved, Stacie Orrico's "Genuine" is a must-have.
Great Debut by Stacie!!.......2006-06-22

Customer Reviews:
Great Album!!.......2007-04-16
Track 11, I Cant Give It Up, is completely hot. The rest of the album is great as well and its still Christian-oriented which I respect her for. If you get this album, get it FOR this song. *faint*
Where's God?.......2007-02-05
When you 1st listen, it's quite pleasing to the ear. It's obvious she's writing from her heart and singing with all her might. She's an amazing singer. It's just, where's God?
There's not one song that mentions God's name. Most of the songs are revolved around boys, which just makes it sound completely secular. I have no doubt that she's a Christian, but compared to her 1st two cd's, it has no Godly lyrics. Morally correct, yes. But Godly, no.
It's more--- soul and r&b. Which I completely love! The beat's awesome, and her voice is just music to my ears.
I am a bit disappointed to find God wasn't in this album, but if you're not concerned with that, it's one of the best cds.
I'll include the listing of the songs and my rating:
1. So Simple - 8/10
2. I'm Not Missing You - 10/10
3. Dream You - 6/10
4. Easy To Luv You - 6/10
5. Save Me - 7/10
6. Take Me Away 9/10
7. Babygirl 10/10
8. Wait 9/10
9. Is It Me 8.5/10
10. Don't Ask Me To Stay 10/10
11. I Can't Give It Up 6/10
12. Beautiful Awakening 10/10
The last song is beautiful. The first time I heard it, I shook my head and skipped over it each time I listened to the cd. But then I listened to it, and it was great! It grows on you. It's beautiful.
This cd is what it's called. A Beautiful Awakening.
Mature, Good Vocals... But A Bit Too Secular.......2007-01-11
It's been 31/2 years, but Stacie hasn't lost her charm. More mature and more of an R&B feel than a pop one, Beautiful Awakening lives up true to it's name. From the opening note to the beautiful "So Simple", you're just sure that it's an angel singing. The music, the vocals and the lyrics are just amazing on this song! "True to life/True to me/Absolutely free/So simple, so simple, so simple, yeah". The album's first single is next, titled "I'm Not Missing You" is almost like an R&B "Stuck" from her sophomore album. With good vocals and a beautiful medley, especially the piano, "I'm Not Missing You" is a definite winner. The album continues it's R&B feel with "Dream You", "Easy to Luv U" and "Save Me". The next track, "Take Me Away" proves that this young singer may have gone a bit in over her head. The lyrics show a little too much emotion, "From your kiss/To your touch/Got me needin' it so much/Boy I got a crush". The song "Babygirl" is a touching anthem for single mothers. With a soft medley and good lyrics like, "Babygirl, take it one day at a time/Everything will be alright". "Wait" follows up and can be compared to even Christina Aguilera, with amazingling strong vocals and great beat, "Wait" should be the album's second single for US. The upbeat "Is It Me" and "Don't Ask Me 2 Stay" are probably the only two on the album that could be considered pop. "I Can't Give It Up", like "Take Me Away" shows just too much emotion for a Christian song. The album closer "Beautiful Awakening" is a soft, R&B song that brings the album to a soft landing. The Japanese Bonus Tracks "Frustrated" and "Brush 'Em Off" are both strong songs that have a good medley and lyrics like "And I get so tired of them talking about me/Everybody's in my business/They trippin' me, they dog me/They just wanna use me, confuse me, they call me/But I just brush 'em off me". As for the UK/Europe/Australia Bonus Track "Addictive" continues with the emotion, love and mushy gushy lyrics like "I don't need no coffee/Don't need no cigarettes/Don't want nothing at all/Cause boy you're my addiction". The Wal-Mart Exclusive track "Tantrum" is the best of any of the bonus tracks and is a strong song that has great vocals and good vocals like: "I have the heart of a child/And my mind's like it's mother/Trys to tell it what's right/But it just won't bother/It just keeps kicking and screaming... My heart throws a tantrum". Overall, Beautiful Awakening is a mature, strong album that is sure to do well with the secular crowd, but might keep the Christian one confused. Sometimes you just can't get two birds with one stone and that's the way it goes.
Won me over with "I'm Not Missing You"........2006-11-24
Dare I say it? I caved and bought this album because I was hooked on the music video of "I'm Not Missing You". Normally, I don't bother spending money on pop albums because you usually just get one or two good songs off them; the rest are just fillers, completely forgettable material. Most of the albums that I buy these days are trip-hop or new-soul jazz stuff. I can safely say that I probably haven't bought a pop album for at least five years.
So why the sudden splurge on Stacie Orrico? I'm a believer in giving an artist due credit. If I think that even just one song was able to reach me, it's worth the price of the whole album. "I'm Not Missing You" has well-written lyrics. The hook is stellar: "I'm not going through the motions, waiting and the hoping you call me/I'm not missing you/you might've had me open but I must be going because/I got life to do/I know I'm usually hanging on, I used to hate to see you gone/but this time it's different, I don't even feel the distance, I'm not missing you". It's got a catchy tune, and Stacie never misses a beat in her performance. Admittedly, the other songs on the album pale in comparison to "I'm Not Missing You". There are the usual completely forgettable songs ("Save Me", "I Can't Give It Up"). The lyrics of "I Can't Give It Up" in particular fall flat ("Now in this moment candles burnin oh, it's so easy/Got me compromising with my sexuality"). It's so blatantly obvious that it's about a girl who's trying to protect her virginity. There's not even a hit of poetry in the lyrics.
There are others that are somewhat catchy ("So Simple", "Easy To Luv You"). But if you're like me, and it's enough that you have one really great song, by all means get a copy. :)
stacie orrico's 2006 album "beautiful awakening".......2006-11-09
I think that Stacie's album was pretty cool, but for those of you who are looking for songs more focused on life and less focused on guys, you'll be slightly disappointed. I loved her self-titled album "Stacie Orrico" because it was really well balanced, but this one has some more mature guy-related themes in the songs. One of the songs gets really intense in that area. However, the sound is cool and she has a good view of what she's singing about. So it's overall pretty good.

Well grounded pop star with a stunning voice.......2004-10-01
In an age when female pop stars are being forcibly made to act and dress far beyond their years, it's refreshing to find a girl in her teens making mainstream music about topics that are appropriate to her age and keeping her clothes on. Stacie Orrico is that wonderful `new' talent that we can only hope is beginning of a new trend. I put `new' in quotes because the 18-year old songbird has been a commercial singer since the tender age of 14 in the Christian music industry. Her affiliation with Christian music may account for some of her conservativeness, but she's still her own person who makes her own choices, and she wouldn't be the first purportedly devoutly religious female singer to start singing raunchy tunes while half-naked (Beyonce is a good example of that). Fortunately, so far, Stacie seems to have a great deal of respect for herself and understands the message she's sending
Stacie's self-titled album has already has released a few singles that are starting to see appreciable airplay on mainstream pop radio stations. Her first single, "Stuck", is a wonderful example of a good song that is sung about subjects appropriate for a high school girl (unlike someone like the appalling Jojo, who is only 13 and singing about kicking cheating boyfriends to the curb). "Stuck" is the classic yarn about a girl who is hung up and being led on by one of the popular guys who sees her more of a trophy and doesn't treat her very well. Her scorching chorus, "I Hate You, but I Love you. I can't stop thinking of you" speaks the words and is imbued with the emotion that many teenagers have felt in the stressful relationship game. More than even the words, though, it's Stacie's outstanding vocal talent that makes this song soar (as well the others on her album). "Stuck" reveals a nuanced and powerful vocal range that can fit comfortably in many different musical genres from R & B to Pop to Gospel. The strength and message of this song just hints at tip of the iceberg of this extraordinary talent.
Amazing ... pop to bring you back to that trash filled genre.......2003-11-14
well, i know 3 of the 5 songs on here, Album mix, Thunderpuss, and (i think) More To Life. (the CDM i have has Bounce Back and Until I Find You, neither of which i like; i'd rather have this one)
this song grabbed me by the ears and dragged me back to the world of pop music i've been avoiding for the last half year or so since Jewel's Intuition single. it's very catchy, and i love it for no particular reason, other than it sounds good. (at least More To Life is a good song with some positive/hopeful lyrics, but this... is just good and i don't know why)
not only that, but of all the CDSingles that average to be around $8, this is the only CD that i'd pay that amount for, however this is less than a combo meal ANYWHERE these days. especially if More to Life is the album version...
STUCK IN YOUR HEAD!.......2003-10-17
What a great song, this cd single is worth to buy!, it's so sticky that will stay in your head for months!, great song! that talks about being in love, been ditch, and still loving, what a fact of life, don't you think!
Great First Pop Single.......2003-09-24
This is a great song from the very talented Stacie Orrico. I bought this singel mainly for the remixes and the reason I am giving this singel 4 stars is becasue the second version sounds almost exactly like the first. The only real remix is number 3 which has a thunderpuss version that will keep you on your feet although only for 3:02 becasue that is how long it is. Also do not count on getting her second single more to life here. The 4th and 5th tracks are only snippets clocking in at less than a minute each. Hope this review was helpful to you.

Stacie makes us all look for more to life........2004-10-08
The wonderfully powerful and nuanced vocal talents of Stacie Orrico, which first graced the ears of mainstream music fans with "Stuck", her strong (and age appropriate) ode to the angst of teenage romance, reaches even higher levels with "There's Gotta Be More to Life" her stellar second single of her eponymous debut album.
This album is a tricky transition for Stacie because it marks her departure from the purely Christian rock scene to the more widely accessible mainstream pop audience. While it is desirable to make that transition to reach more people, it is also a move that can fall flat if the singer doesn't recognize the importance of gearing lyrics towards that broader audience. Christian musicians generally are not well-received by the more secular audiences who don't want to repeatedly hit over the head with messages about God, Jesus, and the singer's personal devotion to them. At the same time, the artist can still run the risk of alienating their Christian fan base if they veer to far from their roots. In addition to being an amazing song, "There's Gotta Be More to Life" remarkably achieves that balancing act.
The main lyric in the chorus goes `There's gotta be more to life ... Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me' reflects the struggle of a person who feels something missing in their life, but can't figure out what it is. So, they go in search of temporary things to fill that void while realizing that it's still not fulfilling them. For those more in tune with Christian music and messages, it's easy to interpret the song's meaning as God being the `more to life' that Stacie is looking for. However, the delivery is so subtle that one can find their own meaning in it separate from religious leanings. The core message is that material pursuits alone will not be enough to make one feel complete.
On top of the strong message, "There's Gotta be More To Life" also boasts a wonderful display of Stacie's vocal range. The main verses showcase her jazzier voice that could fit comfortably singing blues tunes in a smoky lounge or on an R&B sound stage. The chorus highlights the soaring powerhouse pipes that make the elite pop songs standout, while other elements show off her soft, comforting vocals that show the potential to produce soothing (yet powerful) ballads.
Stacie Orrico is an artist that I hope we hear from for a long time. Her earlier accomplishments at bridging the Christian and secular music scenes are encouraging. Yet, it's her voice that proves she's a talent that could have the legs for a long journey in this industry.
Gripping!.......2004-03-05
Staccie's single is so gripping. She's one talented singer who writes with a passion about the love of the almighty.
As a christian radio dj, today i played her single. Many listeners called in to say Staccie is the best. One chucklingly said that she's moreover still a virgin and that's why her music is so powerful!
Her voice just flows like the birds of dawn,it's amazing that even her beauty pours forth in this song.
If you've not got a copy what are you waiting for? Staccie is one fortunate christian musician that's irresistable. She and her songs are simply gripping.
Great Song!.......2003-12-28
I luved this song and it is my favorite currently.

Hey, who dropped the beat box in the eggnog? OK, maybe it's not that dramatic, but Stacie Orrico wants to spruce up some old Yuletide standards with a little dance-floor spice. The smart and sassy "Love Came Down" and the modern, funky reading of "O Holy Night" give this Christmas Wish a very nontraditional sound. When she's not trying to play diva by touching as many notes as possible in one song, Orrico comes across convincingly in tracks like the smooth "What Child Is This" and "O Come All Ye Faithful." Young fans will no doubt snatch this release up, while more seasoned listeners may want to prepare themselves for something a little different. --Michael Lyttle
Customer Reviews:
This album was my "Christmas Wish".......2007-07-09
Christmas is my #2 fav christmas album (next to Kirk Franklin's Christmas album.) Most of stacie's musical influences were R&B or Gospel so Im glad she stuck with her R&b roots on this album.THat genre works so well with her voice bc she has soul in her voice. To me the pop tracks dont do her justice at all. ANways, my favorite tracks on this album are, of course, the very R&B track "What child is this 10/10, Love Came Down 9/10, O Come Let Us Adore him 8/10, O Holy Night (very Gospel) 10/10, and White Christmas. Stacie did it again! This will be worth every cent. Buy it!
If you're a fan... (2.5 stars).......2006-11-09
Album in a nutshell: Stacie Orrico delivers a spicy collection of 6 Christmas songs with mixed results. "O Holy Night" starts out with a great beat but gets kind of annoying towards the end and is too "urbanized." The title track, the only original on here, is nice and somewhat memorable. "What Child is This?" is desposible, and "Love Came Down" is cute and bouncy but nothing special. After the lamentable "Child," Stacie redeems herself with a nice cover of "O Come All Ye Faithful" laced with mid-tempo R&B beats while still remaining faithful (no pun intended) to the classic hymn. The EP's closing number, "White Christmas," is where Stacie gets it right. The orchestration is beautiful and nostalgic, and Stacie's vocals breeze through the song like a feather in the wind. If you're a fan, or just want a short upbeat original Christmas CD, this is for you. If not, don't bother with it.
Best Song: "White Christmas"
Christmas traditionals / Total tracks: 5/6
Sample This: A nice midtempo version of "O Come all Ye Faithful" and the sweet original title track, both laced with nice urban beats and tight harmonies
What to Avoid: the terrible version of "What Child is This?" and the last 90 seconds of "O Holy Night"
The album in 2 words: Fan Geared
Stocking Stuffer or under-the-tree: stocking stuffer
Very modern, very good.......2003-09-07
This CD really shows what a talented singer Stacie is. It's a very, very modern Christmas album and very creative. Michael W. Smith helped produce it and you can tell that Stacie worked extremely hard on this. It's kind of short, but the songs never grow old. "Christmas Wish" will make you cry and "Love Came Down" will make you dance. This CD has everything and I would definitely recommend it to any Stacie Orrico fans.
The best Christmas album ever!.......2003-04-19
Okay, first off let me say that I bought this cd in the middle of March and have been listening to it every day even though it's nowhere near Christmas. This album is remarkable! Stacie is my favorite artist no doubt about it. This cd has the perfect blend of pop/urban/r&b/traditional Christmas music. One of my favorites is O Holy Night but I love all of the songs equally. They're each unique in their own way. This album is a great twist on traditional Christmas and Stacie's mature, strong vocals only make it better!
We loved it!!.......2001-11-28
Find myself singing the first cut..."do do-do-do-do do do do..." from "Love Came Down" (not too loud--not cool in front of my daughter--it's her CD)!! Sure feels like Christmas to me! Stacie is such a doll! (From a 35-year-old mom of an 11-year-old who loves Stacie's music.) We saw her sing live at Legoland in California last summer, and she has an AMAZING voice. What a talented young lady--the Lord has surely gifted her, and she uses it to His glory. O Holy Night is one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time..the lyrics really bring out the true reason the Son of God came..."long lay the world in sin and error pining...'til He appeared and the soul felt it's worth"...Her heavy R&B version--honestly--took a little time to grow on me--and I grew up on R&B--Qunicy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Prince kind of stuff-- but I love how she thinks and does her music "outside the box"--very fresh and different...something Christmas songs need!
