Kaleidoscope Superior
Editorial Reviews

Can you mix industrial, rap, reggae, pop, and jazz into an intelligible combination? Earthsuit has, and they have done it admirably. The title of their debut project, Kaleidoscope Superior, is undoubtedly linked with the sound they have achieved. Produced by David Leonard (Indigo Girls, John Mellancamp, Toto, Oingo Boingo, Prince), the lavish spread of drums, electronics, and guitars is like an ornate tapestry. This music moves between aggressive and atmospheric moods with a seamless flow. Another thread that gives this project its identity is the otherworldly quality inherent in both music and lyric. The messages that Earthsuit presents are not typical Christian subject matter. Taking a mythical and philosophical approach to faith, they challenge the listener to ponder as well as listen. Even if you don't plug into the transcendent journey that Earthsuit takes, the music pulls its own weight. There is enough talent here to land Earthsuit in the company of mainstream musicians who are known for their superior artistry. --Israel Button

Before there was MUTEMATH.......2007-01-26
Earthsuit is like a early collegiate version of MUTEMATH with a hint of a hip-hop edge akin to 311. Again a unique sound coming from a great group of guys.
this is not rock.......2005-03-13
Don't let all those other reviews fool you. The music on this cd is NOT rock; rather it is more in the vien of adult contemporary hits. So if you like John Mellancamp, Prince, and crap like that then you will probably like this cd. If you are looking for a rock cd then keep looking.
Very nice mix.......2004-09-18
This is the most unique album I've ever heard in this genre. It mostly has a progressive sound. Like Saga meets Linkin Park. The lyrics have a great message. Its great to listen to while relaxing.
A Refreshing Difference from Boring Tradition.......2004-06-16
Earthsuit breaks barriers that most bands falsely boast of breaking. Everything about the requires a second look: the lyrics, the music, their message; it is an interestingly refreshing refuge from the mundane contemporary christian music that is coming out now.
CHRISTIAN ROCK AIN'T WHAT IS USED TO BE.......2004-02-19
I'd heard Christian rock in the 70's....Christian Rock in the 80's. It was like,... well, no disrespect... but it was like the Carpenters.... That's not ROCK. The 90's, was a bit better. But now, here in the 2000's thank GOD! Christian Rock finally rocks. And this band EARTHSUIT is one of the most underated, unheard of bands in Rockdom. They merge, as most in this genre do, as a blend of Pop Rock, Punk, Rap, and Newage... This album is so excellent I don't see how they could do it one better. Every song is great on this cd, but my favorites are the 'hit' - "One Time", "Against the Grain"(best), "Do you Enjoy the Distortion?". Other Christian bands that I like are P.O.D., Jars of Clay, and Audio Adrenaline. And these guys are better than all of the above.Awesome.

Real Rock-n-Roll in an age of "pop-rock" and commericalism.......2003-04-14
This is one of the best bands I've ever had the privilege to hear "live". Their bluesy, hard rock, melodic, crunching, ripping, high-energy sound is a welcome departure from today's over-commericalized "pop-rock" clones.
I was privileged to see and meet this wonderful cast of characters a few years ago when they were pre-Rollins "Mother Superior" playing in small bars like Whitey's Place in Monterey, CA. Their "live" sound was always too much and their Marshall stacks too loud for the pop-rock pansies who were looking for a toned down rock band where they could enjoy a beer and talk amongst themselves. Boy were people surprised when they lit it up at Whitey's Place!! I've always been in awe of their sound, lyrics and creative style and Jim's guitars are incredible, always! One of rocks best kept secrets... no more secrets! let's get the word out!!! This guys rock like nobody's business!
What a Band!.......2001-09-11
Just saw these guys live a week ago. This band rocked the show. They did a 45 minute set that blew me away. Then came back and did an hour and a half as Rollins Band. I enjoyed there first set so much it hasn't left the cd player for a week. Check out track 3, best song I've heard in a looooong time. Maybe radio will discover what music could be if DJ's listened to this.
One of the best.......2001-05-04
If you like blues rock, get this one. They are up there with The Expierience in terms of blues rock. This album made me think so. Everyone in the band can play thier instruments very well and sing even better. This is one album I can listen to all day. Mother Superior compares to hendrix (the guitarist isn't as good as Mr. Hendrix though) but they have more of a blues sound in every song. Get this album before the other three though. They can't compare to this one. Bottom line... this is one of the best cds in my collection and I think everyone who is a rock fan should own it.
Real Rock........1999-09-01
Guitar! I love these guys. They can play their instruments and give a good live show.
Heavy rockin trio that plays the real stuff...............1999-01-24
Check this L.A. band that has earn some following along the west coast and fans in Japan and Australia. Powerfull blues driven guitar riffs you don't hear anymore these days from all these bands comin out. One favorite song of mine in this Kaleidascope album is the song "Where are all the rock and roll people". In a sense it does makes me think so, when we can't notice a nice band amonsg all the commcercial/MTV driven dictated music scene. Also check their first release, Heavy Soul Experience (1996) and their lastest, Deep (1998). This mother rocks.
