It takes a very special talent to blend the symphonic and gospel elements that are woven so tightly on Persuaded: Live in D.C. Then again, Richard Smallwood easily falls into that "special talent" category. Decorated with several Dove and Grammy awards, Smallwood's been churning out hand-raising anthems for three decades. With a background in both the classical and gospel worlds, Smallwood and his group Vision passionately worship their Lord with reckless abandon on this record. The opening two numbers capture Smallwood's talent for mixing styles with the orchestra intro of "Procession of the Levites," segued nicely with the blazing-hot "Anthem of Praise." Seeking inspiration? Listen to Charrisse Nelson-McIntosh belt out her worship in "Psalm 8" or Vanessa Williams's testimonial praise in "Your Love Divine." In both tracks, Smallwood leads Vision into dramatic vocal crescendos that lift and exude glory. This CD by Richard Smallwood is an excellent display of his ability to sincerely render praise to God through music and lyrics! His anointing is greatly manifested in this project. My favorite is "Psalm 8"--a wonderful song to accompany an interpretive praise dance with or without signing (ASL). -KIMBLEY

If you don't know, then now you know. If you like to keep your composure while riding in the car....this is not the CD for you. If you don't like to cry, sing or shout.....this AIN'T the CD for you. I am telling you now, this is one of the greatest works that Richard has ever brought forth. The skill and mastery of the orchestra, the piano and yes...the voices... all combine to bring you into the presence of God. Not only do I personally own the CD, but also the video. You can literally feel God's presence raining down on you as you listen to songs like "Hold On, Don't Let Go," or,"Calvary," OR,"Anthem of Praise." This is one of the best things that I own. Be prepared to praise and worship the Lord!!!!

Richard Smallwood & Vision truly bring in the holy spirit with their music. This CD is absolutely awesome. I will forever hold this CD close to my heart. The song "Hold On, Don't Let Go" ministered to my friend and me. I had recently fallen ill and the physicians were unable to tell me what was wrong, however after a month of this mysterious illness, I recovered thanks be to God. One day after I'd recovered I visited my friend who had fallen ill and had been diagnosed with kidney failure. During the drive to her dialysis center I played this CD in the car and we listened to "Hold On, Don't Let Go" and we held each other's hand and cried and praised God together. As Mr. Smallwood states prior to singing this song on the Video Tape (which I have as well) that we all have to go through something, maybe we have just gone through something, or are presently going through something, or are about to go through something. The words to this song lets us know that we need to hold on and not let go. That day during that ride that song ministered to us, I'd just come out of something and my friend was about to go through something because the next day she suffered a stroke and to this day the two of us are still holding on and not letting go, not only to God but to each other. That day God talked to us through this CD and I will forever be grateful.

This CD is a masterful work by Richard Smallwood. Songs such as "Procession of the Levites" and "Hold On, Don't Let Go" reflect the power evident throughout the whole CD. This CD is a masterpiece with good vocals and excellent music, as well as a theme that focuses on God.

Supernatural would be one of the adjectives which would qualify this album, because once again Mr Smallwood demonstrates us, by a suite of notes pleasantly well carried, because the classic gospel is neither exceeded, nor gone out of fashion. Mr Smallwood's association from the group Vision was one of the biggest turning for the gospel of the last century. This album seems to announce a next thunderous millennium. Then, that God keeps(guards) this company, because the message which she(it) conveys is a message of hope. And as he even would say: hurt(damage) the all my soul ...
