There's a new girl in town, or like three of them. And together they make up a head-turning trio from B-Rite Music, Trin-i-tee 5:7. These ladies take their name from 1 John 5:7 and march boldly down the trail blazed by talented female artists like Out of Eden, Toni Braxton and Brandy. As such, the self-titled debut album from Trin-i-tee 5:7 is an R&B/hip-hop treat.

The immediate attention-grabber here is the brief a cappella opener, "I Won't Turn Back." Imagine what Take 6 might sound like if they were women, and you've got an idea of what this tune delivers. The funky "You Can Always Call His Name" is also hard to miss. Mixing rap with a silky-smooth R&B melody, this tune quotes Scripture and encourages listeners to call on Jesus for every need. In a tribute to history, Trin-i-tee 5:7 also includes a soulful, blues-style remake of the African-American spiritual "Oh Mary, Don't You Weep." The result is a tribute to the talent of the artists, as their vocal harmonies glide effortlessly over the musically spare background arrangement. Other cuts worth mentioning are the Kirk Franklin-penned ballad, "God's Blessing," and Percy Bady's worshipful "With All My Heart."

If there is a weakness on this album, it's only in the multitude of producers (a talented line-up of eight) who had their fingers in the mix. For now, however, don't hesitate to welcome this new offering from Trin-i-tee 5:7 into your CD library. -- Mike Nappa (c) 1998 CCM Communications, Inc.

I don't own any other CDs from Trinitee, this is the only one. I really didn't expect it to be this good. It can easily pass as an R&B album. Some songs express their feelings towards guys such as "Sixteen Again", and "All of My Life" which is fine because it sends a message to wait on God to send that special someone. But overall these songs were really nice. They redid Musiq's "Love" and changed the words which was fine. I also liked the way they redid "People Get Ready" but I forgot who was the original artist. "Rescue Me" and "All of My Life" were beautiful. I loved the lyrics and it was very enjoyable. "Holla" and "Dance Like Sunday" are off the hook and are songs you can dance to. Other songs I liked were "Sixteen Again", "Here 4 U" and "Greater Than You and Me", very good songs. If you like contemporary gospel I recommend that you get this. It sounds just like R&B and it's worth listening to.

This CD is definitely one of my favorites. I would recommend it to anyone who likes upbeat contemporary gospel. And not only is the style modern and relative, but the music itself, the lyrics, undoubtedly uplifting. And more importantly it hasnt' gotten away from God's true message. If these things are in any way what you're looking for buy the CD!

THIS CD IS MADE JUST FOR YOUNG PEOPLE. NOT TO SAY THAT THIS ANIT FOR OLDER PEOPLE BUT I THINK THAT YOUNG PEOPLE WOULD LIKE IT BETTER THAN OLDER PEOPLE. LET ME TELL YOU WHY. 1 BECUASE OF THE MUSIC THAT SING ITS GOSPEL BUT ITS NOT YOUR TIPICAL GOSEPL. THIS GOSPEL IS FOR TO REACH YOUNG PEOPLE. Actually, I Think Their Second Project Was Better........2007-05-16

I try to make it a habit normally of listening to the first material first (or a greatest hits collection) of an artist. I listened to Trin-I-Tee 5:7's second project, "Spiritual Love", first. If I listened to this first, I may never have tried "Spiritual Love".

This was good quality, but I think a true R&B fan would like this better. To me, the songs sounded a little more alike.

Please don't be scared off with my review of this project; you may enjoy it better than I did. And especially DON'T AVOID THIS GROUP BECAUSE OF THIS ONE REVIEW! This group clearly loves the Lord Jesus Christ and is dedicated to serving Him.

I did like some of the songs from the project, which stood out a little more. The first was the excellent "I Won't Turn Back", an aca pella promise of a great project. I also liked "God's Blessing", "Sunshine", and "Holy And Righteous".

These are three classy, soulful Christian women who can really put down on the mike while lifting up the name of Jesus. I have all of Trin-i-tee's music. Whenever they come out with a new CD I will be the first to buy it.

Terrific Gospel Album!.......2004-11-14

I'm a huge fan of this type of Gospel music: a positive, Christian, and Godly message, delivered with an R&B edge. Chanelle, Angel, and Terri sound terrific on this album, and the songwriting and production only adds to the quality of this album. These girls have class, beauty, style, and God all put together in this package of such a wonderful album. There's not a single song on this album that I dislike, and that doesn't happen very often that I like every single song on a CD.

If you desire a CD that will lift your Spirit up to God immediately, I suggest this wonderful CD. Using new and traditional gospel songs, these talented ladies deliver the opportunity to relax in the words of truth communicated through their ministry of music--worship and praise. You will be moved to go back and read the Bible, sing with them, and feel connected to the Spirit of God which comforts and arms us with all that we need thru Christ Jesus. This CD has many purposes for me, I can workout to it, get my praise on during personal time,clean up and relax to it. That is alot of uses for the money.

I am fairly new in my walk and this CD abets my curiosity. When I first heard Mary don't you Weep, the story of Mary and Martha I had to know what the story was about. I grabbed my bible and now I understand.

A Very Inspiring And Interesting Project.......2006-12-13

I am a fan of all kinds of Christian music. I also am a fan of female vocalists and groups. I have listened to a project by two different gospel female trios, Virtue and Trin-i-Tee 5:7. Both are great with the lyrics, but musically I like Trin-i-Tee 5:7 better.

One thing I like about this project is that it is interesting musically (a weakness I found in Virtue's project "Free"). One reason is it is obvious that these ladies enjoy and are influenced by both the contemporary styles of today and the traditional sounds of the past.

"My Body" is an excellent call to sexual purity, and puts one emphasis we forget, which is that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. Other songs I enjoyed include the title track, "Gonna Get Myself Together", "There He Is", "You Were There", and "He Knows."

If you need your soul and spirit uplifted, this project will succeed in accomplishing this.

This is a great CD! I really like all of the songs on it, one of my favorites being "There He Is". I really am not into Gospel music all like that but this is a really good album. It's funny because some of my friends will get in the car while I have it on and will ask-What's the name of this song I really like it. They are so shocked with I tell them that its a gospel album.

A song of hope.......1999-09-05

This song, Mary don't you weep, is a slow, sad song. It tells the story of Mary and Martha's brother, Lazarus dying and being buried. Then it gives hope by saying that Jesus is going to raise Lazarus from the dead. It's based on a true Bible story, and if Jesus can raise Lazarus from the dead, He can help anyone with any problem. The beat identifies with how sad Mary and Martha must have been, but it speeds up at the end and tells a message of hope. It's great! Keep it up, Trin-i-tee!
