Customer Reviews:
Alive Again indeed -- great tunes.......2006-07-22
Not sure what's Gott-en into one of the reviewers on this page, but Scott's latest recording is excellent from start to finish. My favorite tunes include the hope-jam "Alive Again" and the provocatively arresting ballad "All In the Name of God" (co-written with the amazingly talented Regie Hamm). Scott's vocals sound stellar throughout the album. I'd highly recommend this recording to CCM fans and others who dig high-quality music.
Think again Gott's Kind.......2006-02-03
Excellent album by an excellent artist! I really, really believe that Gott's Kind needs to re-evaluate their evaluation. Yes, the album is a little louder and with a little more energy than previous works, but Scott has certainly NOT lost the depth of his lyrics. The depth is still there (and I own two of his previous cd's) and while I also appreciate his previous works this cd has merit all its own. However, if you still have doubts, find a way to listen to the cd before you buy it. If you listen to christian radio, surely you have heard at least two of the songs off this cd. If you buy it and still don't like it, give it to a friend and they will thank you for the wonderful gift. If you want to feel alive again, listen to Scott's "Alive Again" and you will. Enough said.
Nothing "gentle" about Gentle Revolution.......2006-01-04
I am a long-time Scott Krippayne fan and I absolutely love all his other releases. But I must say I was very disappointed with the album. It doesn't sound like Scott at all -- there's so much electric guitar and bass, and the lyrics have a much shallower feel than his other albums. The song Renee, about his thoughts after a "star sighting" of Renee Zellweger, falls very flat and comes off as one long cliche. Something Different is so syncopated that it's barely melodic, and the lyrics are overpowered by the "different" music style. The track I Am Jesus sounds like another carbon-copy "pity the homeless person but don't really do anything to change his plight" song in the vein of Tim McGraw and a dozen other recording artists. And Gentle Revolution, while carrying a good message, grates on the nerves (the bass is so loud!) so that the message is completely lost. Sorry, Scott, but I regret I ever bought this album.
A caveat -- if you enjoy the hard rock sound of some Christian music, then take everything I have said with a grain of salt: you probably will enjoy this album. But for a long-time Scott Krippayne fan who's come to expect simple melodies and accompaniment and his normal heart-felt lyrics, it isn't worth the $14.
another solid effort by multi-talented artist.......2005-02-09
This guy is a top-notch singer, writer, and player. A true triple threat in the Christian music industry. "Gentle Revolution", the follow-up to his piano-driven release "It Goes Like This" finds Scott showing yet another side to his many talents. The songs seem to have more of a rock edge and less of a "stripped-down" feel than his previous release. There are 10 songs (not 8 as is currently listed by Amazon--"I Am Jesus" and "Renee" are separate songs as is "In The Name Of God" and "Alive Again") on this disc and the songwriting here is incredible. "In The Name Of God" is a haunting, emotionally-stirring ballad that will grip you. The title cut about a compassione, loving Savior and "Renee" are obvious radio hits for Scott. A couple of upbeat, more personal tunes that are also highlights here are "Alive Again" and "Lyin". This is another enjoyable listening experience from a terrific Christian artist. I hope the great music keeps coming for a long, long time.
