Undisguised
Editorial Reviews
Album Description
"More than anything else, I want to encourage people who perhaps have struggled like I have to keep seeking that deeper place with God. My heart grieves when I hear people say they feel like God isn't listening to them because of what they have done... I want to be able to say through my music what God has been saying all along come as you are." - Kara Williamson

Customer Reviews:
A Delightful Pop Album........2007-01-06
I really enjoyed this project. From the upbeat start of "Bring It On" to the mellow conclusion "Never Been Unloved", I really enjoyed this project both due to the excellent and creative music, and to the encouraging lyrics.
My favorite tracks are "Bring It On", "O Wounded King", "Undisguised", "Everything I Need You Are", "Work It Out", and "Dear Performer". Also, I really enjoyed the remake of "Love Is For Always".
A Solid CD From An Artist That Needs More Publicity.......2005-03-06
Kara Williamson's "Undisguised" is a bit of a change of direction for her. Williamson, one of the better singers in Christian music, switches from a keyboard/synthesizer sound that dominated her 2002 debut CD titled "Kara" to a more diverse one that includes guitars and piano. The opening track "Bring It On" is a real rocker that really showcases her strong vocals. The second song "Where You Are" is one of the best songs she has ever recorded which is written and sung beautifully. If marketed properly, this could get solid airplay on Christian radio and have many singing along in their cars.
Other solid songs include "Love Is For Always", another rocker that lets Kara let loose and have a little fun. But Kara's biggest chance for a solid hit is her cover of Michael W. Smith's "Never Been Unloved", a song released by Smith several years ago that received good airplay. Since Kara sings it quite well, the public should be ready to embrace the song once again.
Showing Her True Face.......2005-02-26
The second solo release from Kara Williamson (previously going simply by Kara) finds the young singer-songwriter stripping away her insecurities. The pop-rock effort offers reflections on her own imperfections, yet as Williamson claims in the feel alright opener "Bring It On", "If you're looking for a pity party/you won't find one here." Instead, she emerges triumphant in spirit. Williamson's clear, pure voice effectively conveys moving, intelligent lyrics - only the instrumentation occasionally seems at odds on certain numbers. Nonetheless, this is a worthwhile purchase. Among the highlights are "More Than Enough (Amazing Love)", the title track, "You Are the One"(a love song for Williamson's husband), and the piano-driven "O Wounded King", based on a poem penned by Williamson's mother. While the album closes with a cover of Michael W. Smith's "Never Been Unloved", the emotional climax (and powerhouse performance)of the album occurs on "Dear Performer", a letter from Williamson to herself where she puts aside all her desires to please others in favor of God's grace. It's a sonic punch that proves Williamson is an engaging and welcome talent in Christian music.
