A Room Full of Stories

One of Christian music's finest songwriters has released his most personal and fully developed effort yet with 1998's A Room Full of Stories. These 10 songs reflect the Christian viewpoint in a mirror. King asks some tough questions in "Universe Next Door" and "Magnificent Defeat," holding himself and the faith accountable in the surrounding world. But it is "Thought You'd Be Here" that exemplifies King's masterful songwriting as he painfully illustrates a personal plea for a child, all the while wondering, "did we do something wrong?" This gut-wrenching writing is highlighted by a light and acoustic musical approach, allowing the superb lyrical content to shine through. It's no surprise that producer Wayne Kirkpatrick (himself a great songwriter) allows the songs to stand tall. King's high-end vocals and wealth of acoustic guitars may remind you of Kenny Loggins's pre-Footloose days... you know, back when he was a good songwriter, too. --Michael T. Lyttle

5 out of 5 stars THOUGHT YOU'D BE HERE BY NOW !!!!.......2003-02-13

I bought this CD at a time in my life when I was really low. I found out about the song "Thought you'd be here by now." I used to belong to a website called Fertile Thoughts. It was a site for those struggling with infertility. Someone on that site mentioned this song. As soon as I got the CD that song gave me the chills. It was my story, completely! I also liked the rest of the CD. He has an angelic voice. I love the song Grace because, by the Grace of God we were saved, saved from infertility. We had 3 beautiful girls through invitrofertilization. The 1st one didn't work. The 2nd one took and I had my Haley. The 3rd took and we had our twins, Jenna and Amanda! I love this CD, but mostly for personal reasons.

5 out of 5 stars Wes King is awesome........1999-06-02

I'll always love Wes King and his music, but this album was by far his very best. The music was excellent, and the lyrics were very thought provoking. This is my favorite album, and a great example of Wes King's extraordinary work!

5 out of 5 stars King's guitar finally shines through!.......1999-05-31

King, a renowned guitarist and songwriter, exemplifies the artistic integrity all musicians should look for in any musical creation. He takes the listener through a timeline of his daily life, exploring the highs and lows of this struggle we all face. He brings forth his obvious tenderness in listening to the Master's voice as he communicates grace, truth, and compassion for others. Opposed to earlier albums, the listener finally gets the chance to hear King's ten finger magianship on a six-string, while allowing his vocals to melt through any detailed notes. Compelling, motivating, heart-warming...a must buy CD!
