Alvin Johnson was born in Dallas, Tx to the parentage of Mr. Alvin and Lorine Johnson,was educated in the Dallas Independent School District(DISD), and graduated from the University of North Texas earning a BA in Music, where he played in all the Lab bands. He graduated Cum Laude and was a member of the National Honor Society during high school and college. Rev. Johnson is a member of the New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he has attended for over 25 years and now serves as Christian Education Director, Associate Minister, and Saxophonist. This church is where he began singing as a soloist at age 13 and playing the saxophone at Lincoln High School. He also served as Minister of Music at the Crest-More King United Methodist Church of Dallas for 4 years. Since answering a call into the ministry in 1984 he has hosted and co-hosted 3 tele-evangelism projects and made numerous appearances on Christian television. He has played his saxophone for numerous congregations and churches in the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex for over 20 years. Currently he is Band Instructor at DISD.
He has appeared on two mass-choir recordings as a soloist, the DFW Mass Choir singing "There Will Be Thorns" and the Gospel Music Workshop of America singing "Wake Up In Jesus' Arms". He has debut his first solo album recording "HELL IS REAL" and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, he has received numerous opportunities to be a witness for Christ and perform these songs through the Coalition of Churches Prison Ministry, on Channel 5 WFAA, Channel 29 KXAS, and numerous community functions.
