Album Description
2003 release from Marc Byrd (co-writer of 'God of Wonders') along with partner Christine Glass, an inspiring journey of contemporary songs and spiritual truth. Curb Records.Customer Reviews:
Wonderful music..........2005-11-15
I hate to say it, but..........2004-06-04
So if you like what they play on the radio, get this because it does have very nice "contemporary Christian" songs. But if you're a Common Children or "alternative Christian" fan, this probably won't suit you.
The Glass And The Byrd.......2003-10-26
Marc Byrd leads most of the singing and Christine backs him up with a soothing melody that backs up Marc Byrd's sandy smooth rock voice that's perfect to wind you down after a hard day of work:
"This Window" is a stylized, alternative take on meditative worship music. The song speaks of opening a window to let in the fresh air of God's goodness.
"Wake Up," "Wounded Healer," "Peace To You," call the listener to consider how God has touched and changed them, and how that can be the spark in another's healing.
"Weight Of The World" is a powerful song about the cross.
Glassbyrd was wonderful when I got to hear them on tour with Jars of Clay and Caedmon's call the summer of 2003. Ever since them I've highly recommended them to worship and contemporary Christian enthusiasts, and I encourage you to do so also...
Wonderful!.......2003-02-13
This is a very solid first album for this new duo!.......2003-02-13
"Open Wide this Window" is a solid first effort. The sound of the record is definitely alterna-pop/power pop. This is a very worshipful/meditative album, lyrically speaking. A highlight comes quickly with "Tonight (I Want to Live in your World...)" which is as good a pop love song as anything else on the radio today. Other standout tracks include "I Stand Amazed" and a ravishing new arrangement of the ubiquitous "God of Wonders."
I bought the record because I liked the sound of the last Common Children record and also because Steve Hindalong co-produced (i'm a Choir fan from way back). Byrd and Glass both have great voices that hook the listener right away.
A little more variance in the song tempos would have been nice and the vocals are a little weak in spots but overall I like the record.
The patient listener who listens all the way to the end of the record is treated to a rather spine-tingling finish, and that's all I'm going to say 'bout that
