Redeemer Of The Nations, Come - An Advent Lessons and Carols
Editorial Reviews
Album Description
A wonder-filled new resource, Redeemer of the Nations, Come explores the treasury of the Church's Advent music and Scripture. Chant, carols, and choral anthems are woven into a prayerful service reminiscent of traditional Christmas Lessons and Carols services. Each year during the season of Advent, the Church celebrates three "comings" of Christ. The first is his coming in history. This coming, of Jesus born of the Virgin Mary, we remember. The second is his coming in mystery - in the members of the asembly, in Word and Sacrament. This coming we participate in, each day of our lives. The last is his coming in majesty - at the end of time, when Christ comes in glory to judge the living and the dead. While we look for this coming at all times, we anticipate it with intensity during Advent. The many-faceted jewel that is the season of Advent deserves to be seen from different angles. Advent is a wonderful time to try something different, something that will invite regular churchgoers and newcomers alike to a deeper relationship with the God who loves humanity enough to become one of us. The Lessons and Crols format is a flexible and splendid opportunity for people to hear the Word of God - and to respond to it with glorious song.
