Ranging from age 16 to 23, the masterminds behind 4th Elemynt use their youth to advantage. The genius of their debut, Elemyntal, comes from an untainted musical vision and an insider's view on what will reach the youth culture. This unique blending of hip-hop and R&B doesn't speed you up or slow you down. It has the timeless sensation of a musical dreamscape. The curiously melodic use of rhythm in "Leave Her Alone" and the brooding atmospheric blend of instrument and voice in "Good n' Plenty" are mainstay examples of what Elemyntal has to offer. These four friends blend vocal melodies and harmonies into adamant gospel messages that exhibit the solemnity of a preacher. Unlike many contemporary groups, 4th Elemynt is not preaching to the choir. With the steady fervency of a face-off before a fight and the authoritative confidence that comes from non-negotiable conviction, their style is aimed at bringing the gospel to those outside the church. 3 out of 5 stars not bad.......2006-04-19

I never heard of these guys. Based on other reviews saying that the music was hot and very contemporary I decided to give them a try. Finding out it was produced by Tonex I knew I was going to hear something ecentric. The CD opens up with two Interludes which I really didn't care for. Since this is a contemporary gospel album I found it kind of inappropriate when Tonex was using words such as "niggas" and "rolling in black Jeeps". Another song "Leave Her Alone" wasn't bad at all but on one part of the lyrics I thought were a bit tacky-(leave her alone she belongs to me, she uses her tears just to wash my dirty feet, which is taken from a story in the Bible. But other than that I did enjoy other songs, such as:
Leave Her Alone - lyrics were a bit tacky but the beat was nice
Ears/Eyes - reminds so much of Men of Standard, I can picture them singing this
Good N Plenty - very nice beat
Calling Your Name - liked the overall sound to this song
Hold on Tight - this one was too short, the music was real nice especially the piano in the background
Its My Turn - this song should have been longer, the music and the way they sung it was so beautiful
Keep On - a nice song
Overall this album has a very R&B sound, hardly sounds like gospel at all. But if you listen to the lyrics carefully you can see that they are singing about God and trying to please him. In songs such as "4Nik8" and "I Wanna Love U" you hear that message especially when it relates to young couples that should live for the Lord and not compromise their standards. There was only one track that I really couldn't stand, "Things Change". They definately could have left that one out. It was so boring, irritating and too repetitive, very bad.

Even though this group isn't really well known their album wasn't that bad. If you like contemporary gospel or R&B, you can give this CD a try, but it really wasn't all that.

4 out of 5 stars melody riddled street grooves and tight harmonies.......2002-10-06

4th elemynt, straight of of cali bring their west coast vibe and tight harmonies to the new gospel landscape with heavy geared production and straight up lyrics. The album features production by T.Boy...aka...Tonex, and 5.0 with tonex doing most of the songwriting. I like their jeepy, west coast sound that hits hard, but keeps rap elements to a minimal, with a emphasis on tight vocal stylings.

5 out of 5 stars Hot!.......2001-03-27

This album is one of the freshest new things to hit Gospel Music in a while, though it looks secular on the outside and got many stares when I bought it from the record store, it's pure Gospel. Los Angeles area based, 4th Elemynt are the "Dru Hill of Gospel" and not just because of Jesse's blonde hair but, their combination of harmony, provacativity, vibe, and feeling are that of a multi platinum group. With the right marketing and Tonex and 5.0's production skills, this album could sell millions.

Every track on this album is hot but the hottest ones are "4th Elemynt", this song is like an introduction to the group, like British girl group Cleopatra's 'Comin Atcha', it kinda gives you insight to what the group is all about. "Leave Her Alone", which is probably the group's first single, it's an updated version of the biblical story of Mary Magdalene, a prostitute, washing Jesus' feet with her hair and his love for her. Other blazin' hot joints are "Ears/Eyes", "Good N' Plenty", and "Calling Your Name". The most provocative and controversial song on the album is "4NIK8", a clever acronym/abbreviation for the word fornicate, which is about a saved boyfriend telling a saved girlfriend [for once] that he doesn't want to have sex before marriage. Lastly there's "I Wanna Love You", another song about Christian relationships and the praise song "It's My Turn". Every 'elemynt' of this album is hot like fire, this is a definite buy for anybody looking for something new from a guy group in Gospel.

5 out of 5 stars SOMEONE NEEDS TO SAY IT!.......2001-01-20

I think 4th-elemynt is the voice for young christians these days. They say what we are all feeling! I play it constantly to my male friends (christians and non) and they accept that that is how I feel or agree and get a new boldness to say how they feel and not be ashamed. Being young and trying to have christians relationships, this CD has encouraged me alot as well as the persons I have relationships with. Instead of listening to songs about sex my freinds and I can listen to that and be encouraged. I hope they (4th-elemynt) don't compromise and keep telling the truth!

5 out of 5 stars Thumpin or what...........2000-10-12

I'm glad that there is a group out there like this that can draw in the younger generation. By the type of music beat style that gets their attention with gospel. There are a few lines that I personaly wouldn've used but you still get the message of where they are coming from. Look out Winans faze 2 these four guys are great comp.
