The Nor Cal Mass Choir combines the fire and excitement of the best of Black Gospel and the warm, singable melodies of Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir with Nor Cals unique mixture of Hispanic, African-American and Caucasian singers and musicians to create a unique, memorable experience of worship and praise.

Nor Cals 1993 debut recording and video, "Hell Come Through For You," created a shock wave of excitement across America. It produced several hits on Gospel Radio including We Have Come Into This Place (To Praise The Lord), Hell Come Through For You, and (Come The) Morning Light. At the invitation of west coast arranger /conductor/ keyboard artist Aaron Lopez, a sizeable group of exfraordinarilly talented and committed songwriters, singers and musicians gather annually in northern Californias Union City, just minutes of San Francisco, for the annual Nor-Cal Music Workshop - an extended time of intense musical and spiritual interaction which has birthed a most exhilerating choir -The Nor Cal Mass Choir - and this powerful recording.

Nor-Cal founder and leader, Aaron Lopez, a principal in the highly regarded music production house Marquee Productions, is a multi-talented keyboard player, programmer, songwriter/arranger, conductorand producer who has contributed to a legion of secular and Christian recording projects which have enjoyed enormous critical and comercial success. His artistry, passion for ministry and challenge to excellance have become the lightning rod which annually attracts some of Americas most gifted singers and musicians to Nor-Cal.

With the release of their first nationally distributed recording, Hell Come Through For You, Aaron Lopez and the Nor-Cal Mass Choir join the upper ranks of Americas top choirs.

If the second half of the 20th Century has musical signs, they must include that phenomenal German singer Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau who dominated the recital and concert halls, the opera stages and the recording studios in a way no other artist has done it, except maybe Leonard Bernstein. In celebration of this great artist's 75th birthday we have here a set which includes the gems of his lieder repertoire, starting with those great Schubert cycles in their most vivid performances. Just listen to those early renditions of the Schone Mullerin or with Jorg Demus, or to Schuman's Dichterliebe cycle (with the same pianist). And you shall not miss the artistry of this most sensitive voice in full volume of Mahler lieder with piano and orchestral songs. And what about the Morike lieder by Hugo Wolf? Well, you shall probably wonder at that special cooperation between the singer and the Russian pianist Svitoslav Richter. It is a performance of lifetime, and so it is with the Wintereise of Schubert with Barnboim at the piano. Those who know the artistry of Fischer-Dieskau and even those who have already other recordings of those great works will not regret having this special set. For the newcomers to this great artist there will be a lot to discover, The music itself, sure, but mainly the art of interpratation. In this alone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau shine high and above all other singers.

    This has truely been the best choir CD I own. I encourage all choir-loving-apostolic-Teens-and-adults to get this CD. I listen to it all the time. You can really feel the anointing off this CD. Oh and if A. Lopez reads this God bless you!
