Glad You Made It

Glad You Made It is a debut album from two guys who are no strangers to the business. Formerly members of Silage, lead men Damian Horne and Lance Black need no lessons on how to rock. With Todd Collins as producer (DC Talk, Out of Eden) and Reality Check's Rod Schuler as touring percussionist and DJ, the combination is laden with plenty of enticement for the ear. This is pop, this is rock, and this is hip-hop. Their stylized recipe blends it all together into a sound that is fashionably current. Most intriguing are the soft layers of vocal harmonies, which, in combination with the grooves, pull the listener into a state of mind in which serenity and intensity walk hand in hand. Throughout the project, they sing almost exclusively about their relationship with God, and combined with the hipster vibe of the music, that relationship has an appeal that moves beyond church settings. This disc is a brilliant new direction in an already successful career. --Israel Button

After two albums fronting Silage, Lance Black and Damian Horne have taken the road to reinvention, hanging up their former band like an old coat and re-emerging as the coolly polished Parkway.

Todd Collins and F. Reid Shippen, who molded Silage's Vegas Car Chasers into a meaty slab of Dove-nominated alterna-rock, head the effort again, leading the band through 13 cuts that range from pop metal to Top 40. Along the way, there are detours into hip-hop-including a guest rap from KJ-52-but the... read more

5 out of 5 stars Great CD!.......2000-07-31

This is a great CD. It became a favorite right away. It's a lot of fun to listen to-awesome tunes! The two cuts that feature Jars of Clay artists Dan Haseltine and Charlie Lowell are a special treat. If you liked Silage, you'll love Parkway! Buy this CD, share it with a friend, and catch them live if you can!

5 out of 5 stars Silage...and beyond.......2000-06-13

Former Silage members, Damian Horne and Lance Black, have put together quite an album under their new name of Parkway. There really isn't an exact way to describe it, it's just awesome!

    5 out of 5 stars Hey I'm First.......2002-06-11

I guess I get to be the first to write a review of this gem. So there I was stuck in Schipol Airport Amsterdam for eight hours waiting for a flight. I went into the duty free shop (gotta make a stop at the duty free shop) to look for some cd's to pass the time. I saw the video for the track Rain Down On Me. Great video and what a great song. Bought this cd and I've been hooked for the past month or so listening to it constantly. It reminds me a little of early Live (pain lies on the riverside). Just good rock and roll. Guitar is nice and loud in parts and soft in others. Lots of acoustic parts. Vocals are awesome. Dude's got that raspy voice that mixes well with such great guitar work. My copy came with a bonus cd with live tracks; not sure if this one does though. These guys are Dutch, but sing in English. Judging by the video for Rain it looks like they put on a very good live show so check them out if you can. Very cool.

2 out of 5 stars Not worth the money or the wait.......2004-01-31

I picked up this cd do to hearing "rain down on me" (later to find it was a remix) on a soundtrack. I was looking forward to hearing an innovative electronic rock band like many others spawning from the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. I was most disapointed when I heard this countryish 'Train' style band which is all over the place in the U.S. today. Though they are much better then most at what they do, it did not overshadow my high expectations which were not met. A few decent songs but nothing to match the awe I felt when I heard Rain Down on Me.

    5 out of 5 stars A Beauty.......2003-12-13

This CD has been well described elsewhere at Amazon. Kane's work does perhaps suggest U2, at times, but they definitely have their own sound.

However, what strikes me is the depth of their lyrics, covering the joys, fears and sorrows of love, and culminating in the stunningly beautiful "Our Hearts Will Beat As One". To me, this is one of the most touching rock songs I've heard in years.

So if you're looking for something a bit different, Kane might just be it.

    4 out of 5 stars Dutch.......2002-09-02

Hello, hello, Kane is a Dutch band, not German!

4 out of 5 stars second cd of popular Dutch rockgroup........2002-08-08

I first wanna say that this is a Dutch group and not a German one. This is their second cd. Their first one was post-grunge type of music, like Live or Bush. This album is softer than the other, less grunge but that doesn't mean that it contains only ballads. The critics say that they sound more like U2 these days, it good be so. The version I have has an bonus cd that contains 4 live numbers, than you can get a small impression how they sound live --> great. I wanted to give, like 3,5 stars. That isn't possible, so as a Dutchguy I give my fellow countrymen 4 stars.
