Seeking and Acknowledging the Lords ultimate gift in my life has been nothing but a Spiritual Joy. As an artist I'm nothing and nobody until the Lord empowers me to write and that's when I can become a Spiritual Carrier for words, music and songs. Writing Gospel songs has been a Spiritual Ministry through words to the people of the Lords World.This CD entitled "Come to Sunday School" was written to let the people of this earth know that whoever you are you are needed in every Sunday School Program. The churches throughout this world needs more mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers attending Sunday School. Sunday School at most churches is the first order of service, this lets us know that it is most important. In Sunday School we receive so much information to go about our everyday lives and become productive in every aspect of our lives. This song was written as encouragment to those to continue to go and for those that do not go, to feel that you are welcome and just as important in the need to be present.

About the Artist
Our Group : Lucy Shinn and The Barren Specials have been together for over 20 years. This group started with three family members and excelled into over ten members. The members in this group went to church and school together. Deacon George Barren was our manager, advisor and father. I was blessed to be one of the first to hear and own the lastest offering from Mrs. Lucy Shinn. Her previous release - "Field of Miracles" - is also a part of my music collection. Mrs. Shinn's style is unique and her talent is obvious. Writing music is surely a gift from God. She has that rare gift and I can truely say that her music is inspiring.
What makes her music even more special to me - is that I have had the pleasure of knowing the Artist and her family. Knowing her and her family and being around them - I can truely say that her music is sincere. Sincere because her life is truely an example of deep faith and her music reflects that strong belief. She is always upbeat, radiant, and comforting to those around her. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that her heartfelt music would have the same effect on the listener. In today's world with so much tragedy, grief, and pain - it is a real comfort to hear her sounds of promise, comfort, and joy - always giving God the glory. Sometimes in life, things happen which we do not expect, and we can become sidetracked. We can lose sight of who we really care for and appreciate - we can get out of touch. Then suddenly one day, one can be looking throught their music collection and instantly realize how out of touch they have been. You see a certain selection and give it a listen. Your soul is suddenly refreshed upon hearing such sounds of inspiration. That realization has come to me today. Listening to Mrs. Shinn's music again has had that effect on me. I can honestly say that her music beckons one's heart to "Come to Sunday School."

Remarkable Project.......2001-07-31

I was truly blessed by this project. If you are looking for a mixture of inspirational tunes that will encourage and uplift, purchase this CD. The title track "Come to Sunday School" reminds one of the good times shared in Sunday School and beckons you to return to that special place. May God bless the writer, the group, the producers, and all who had a part in delivering God's message of Hope and Love. We plan to tell others about this CD and request the playing of it on our local radio stations.

I was first introduced to this song recently during our family reunion worship service in Morvin, Alabama. I heard samples from the CD, which do not give the it adequate justice; however, it sparked me to purchase a copy for my mother, grandmother, and me. Furthermore, I have encouraged friends to make a purchase as well. It is great hearing heartwarming, soul searching, and just good ole gospel music. Keep writing and singing.
