This is Vestal at her very best. It is one of her last recordings that she made before joining the Lord in His heavenly choir. Every track is pure Vestal gold. This recording is a must have for any Southern Gospel Music collector.

There is no question when one listens to Vestal sing of her absolute love, trust and faith in God. Her voice just rings out right from her heart. Her husband and the rest of the Gaithers are the same.

Vestal was indeed one who followed close after Christ. You can just see her now - singing all those wonderful songs at the feet of Jesus.

It is a privilege listening to this CD.

I never liked country music, least of all country Gospel, and especially Southern Gospel quartets. I would immediately turn the dial. Then, one day I saw Vestal Goodman on a Gaither Homecoming video. Vestal was the exact image of my favourite aunt, except for the "big hair." From that point, I was hooked on Homecoming videos, cassettes, and CD's. As were myriads of others, I was shocked to learn of Vestal's unexpected and untimely death in late 2003, and eagerly anticipated the announced tribute to she and Howard. I got the video first, and wept through the entire video, as I do every time I play it. Then, I purchased the CD, with the same effect.It is what we call "Anointed." I recommend this one highly. It is a well-deserved tribute to the Goodmans, who will always be loved and treasured. May their memories be eternal.

Volume 2? Bring On Volume 3!.......2001-11-08

It is so obvious the respect that Vestal Goodman has earned. Just look at the line up of singers who are considered Vestal's "Friends" and listen to each of them sing with this great lady of song. Vestal's voice reaches out and grabs the listener with the passion of the lyrics and the deep conviction that she sings with. If Vestal's name is on a recording, you can be sure that you won't be disappointed.

So your thinking that I must be at least 65 to own this album. Not so fast, actually I am a 21 year old male. For the past three years I have been a big fan of Vestal's and the Happy Goodman Family. I waited a while to buy this cd, because I was a little unhappy with the first Vestal and Friends cd. This cd however is wonderful. All of the songs are wonderful, both new ones and old classics. The best song however is "They Will Know Us By Our Love", a duet with former Kansas frontman and new Christian artist John Elefante. What is so wonderful about this cd is that it is not just Southern Gospel Music. It has black gospel, southern gospel, and contemporary christian music.

Vestal Goodman. Whenever I hear that name, I just smile. She is SO special to me. Her voice is like an angel, and she is an angel herself. This cd really brings out her voice and her friends' voices. I encourage anyone and everyone to buy this cd. It is totally awesome.

Bluegrass with a few diversions of stylr.......2006-09-03

This new CD by the husband and wife team of Alice and Scott Vestal should appeal to Bluegrass music fans that like female vocals along with their banjo and fiddle. Scott is the instrumentalist and plays regularly in Sam Bush's band. Alice does all the vocals (except for the title track which is the sole instrumental on the album), and plays guitar on 4 of the 12 tracks. She has what I refer to as a "high mountain" sound.

Scott's prowess on banjo (as well as "synth banjo" and guitar) can't be faulted and he takes the lead on the title track.

There are a few departures from the traditional bluegrass repertoire with the 1920s Sigmund Romberg/Oscar Hammerstein song "Softly as in the Morning Sunrise" performed in a bluegrass/swing arrangement, but it works. Things slow down a bit with the haunting "God Watches Over", penned by the Vestals.

I've played this through a few times and it grows on you. If you like the bluegrass style vocals of Alison Krauss or Dolly Parton's recent stuff, this one is worth checking out.

Not her best work..........2006-09-17

This album feels like a rush-job to me. It has the effect of listening to someone doing karoake. Too bad she's doing karoake to her own hits. These were new recordings when Vestal was new again in the 1990s--it's truly unfortunate that most of her attempts during this era are marked by productions that didn't allow for her considerable powers of expression.

It sounds like she's just doing this by rote here.... The best of Vestal's later work can be found among the Gaither Homecoming CDs and on her own "Hymns for Life."

Vestal and Friends.......2004-04-26

This album of ministry songs grabs ya deep in the heart and won't let go. This music truely blesses me and all christians that are just starting their walk with God and those who have been serving Him for years. I also believe it ministers to the backsliders and helps restore their faith in God.

Moments.......2000-05-16

I was never into gospel music until last year when my daughter(then 9 months old)was listening to Vestal Goodman at my mothers house. everytime the tape would go off the baby would start to cry, so my mother gave her the cassette tape,Vestal's voice always seemed to soothe her to sleep.then at the age of 14 months she saw a video of The Happy Goodmans I ended up bringing the video home. she has gotten up every morning since then and asks for Vestal & Howard,if the video goes off she wants me to turn it back on.it dosen't matter what song Vestal sings you just can't help but to sit and listen.God has really Blessed her voice.if you have never heard her music try it just once.you'll be hooked.

Classic Vestal...A Winner!.......2000-01-05

I am not born again and usually hate gospel music, however I've seen Ms. Goodman on TNN (Go figure - I live in New York City? ) a few times and fell in love with her voice. I've searched high and low for her music and found only a HAPPY GOODMAN'S CD (I bought it) which left me wanting only more Vestal solos. On a whim I checked Amazon and found MOMENTS. It's exactly what I've been looking for! IT'S AMAZING! I couldn't be happier and more satisfied. I could do without listening to Christian lyrics, but I love Vestal Goodman's voice. BUY IT!

Vestal Goodman at her finest!.......1998-08-09

If you're a Vestal Goodman fan, and even if you're not, this CD will win your heart. As Vestal gets older, she just gets better. Her voice rings as if an angel is doing the singing.(and it is!) This CD boasts HER favorite Gospel songs, and every one is sung with conviction and grace. I know of no other voice that is as clean and clear as hers. Every song on this CD is a classic unto itself, with a true legend singing them. BRAVO!

Don't be fooled by the packaging on this collection. If you have looked at it in stores look at it again here. When I first saw this in stores, I turned over to read the songs and saw Vestal listed on only one song. This site makes it plain that Vestal is featured on each song, but the packaging doesn't. BIG MISTAKE! There is no other voice like hers!

i have been following the goodmans on the gaither's telecasts and i wish they would be featured more often. vestal is truly the QUEEN of Southern gospel. she has a voice as clear as a bell, emotional and it touches the heart when you hear her.

i just love the old time gospel favorites and have the video of the happy goodman from the 60-70's. my favorites? "God walks the dark hills" and also the song that featured howard's brother on guitar (forgive me but just can't remember his name rest his soul) -" Had it not been."

Vestal Goodman wanted to sing opera as a young lady and she would have been incredible. God had other plans for her and this release shows the evidence of that plan. Vestal shares the recording with artists from the secular and sacred music fields, but this recording belongs to the 1st Lady Of Gospel Music, Vestal Goodman! Get it!

Wonderful Music from Vestal!.......1999-11-17

Vestal strikes home again with this beautiful partnership with "Friends." Vince Gill is so great with her on Jesus Made A Way. I loved it and her comments inside about Vince's performance. Have not had a chance to hear the whole album yet, but I highly recommend anything this "Queen of Southern Gospel Music" does. She is surely a professional from the word GO! Love you Vestal!
