Album Description

In June 2004, The Sirens Records recorded three gospel keyboard masters, Jessy Dixon, Geraldine Gay, and Nash Shaffer, Jr. in a soul-stirring studio session. Jessy Dixon and Geraldine Gay are gifted pianists. Their work is integral to Chicago's renowned gospel music heritage. The organ playing by Nash Shaffer, Jr. lifts the music's spiritual level. Vocalists Pastor Donald Gay and his son Gregory Gay, Jr., drummer D'Artagnon Gunn, and bass player John Whitfield also joined the session to provide a unique gathering of Chicago talent. The result is an inspirational and magical collaboration of heart, rhythm and soul that will deeply move all who listen.

A joyful noise.......2004-10-27

This Gospel album is wonderful. It sure is an INSPIRATIONAL recording. I'm no expert on Gospel music but this recording takes me away. Lifts me up. The world sure needs that lifting up right now. I hope lots of people listen to it. It could help.

One nit to pick is I couldn't figure out from the liner notes who was doing what. I would enjoy knowing.

this is a great album. roy and dale each have a song and all the other tracks are by top stars. in my opinion its better than any album i've heard of his music.its out of print now but worth the effort to get.

Gospel Singing Extraordinaire!.......2000-09-24

Each artist rendering was wonderful! It is just a joyful mixture of great gospel songs. Each of the singers on this album are just great timeless artists. The sound quality is excellent. I love Dorothy Love Coates' "Heaven", such powerful voices and excellent style. Rev James Cleveland's "Can't Nobody" makes you feel like you are in the service- excellent piano playing on that number. The Nightingales- another very wonderful song, and rendered so sincerely. I have played them over and over again. The Consolers song is another well written, well song number. All of the artists are great! The one and only drawback for me was Rev Cleophus Robinson's song. He had a very lovely introduction on this live number, but the singing part was cut off just when he got into the song. It was a lovely history that the lady gave before he came on, but I think this Gospel Great's song should have been played in its entirety! If you love the sound of gospel from probably 1950 thru (probably) prior 1980's, you will love this!
