BEST ROCK AND ROLL ALBUM OF ALL TIME!!!!.......2007-06-28
Walter is a very good guitar player, but, he keeps playing his 'finger exercises' over and over and over! If only he would cut down on his 2200 notes per minute habit. (I got this from an Alvin Lee review.) His singing is excellent, and his songs are outstanding. I like all the material. The sound is OUT OF THIS WORLD, and Jim Gaines is in top form as the producer. My best cuts are: GOTTA LEAVE THIS TOWN--a Jimi Hendricks feel, LOVE SO DEEP, LOOKING FOR THE PROMISED LAND, GO THE DISTANCE, I DON'T WANT MY MTV, and MESSAGE ON THE DOOR. Even his slower folk/ballads are top notch. I like the way he both sings and plays the very same notes on some selections. I dare you to find a better rock record! The more you listen, the more impressed you will be! This record will BLOW YOU AWAY!!

powerful blues band. walter's guitar play reminds me alot of kenny wayne shepherd. no, he is not srv as one other reviewer stated, but he is walter trout and one of the finest guitarist alive. a must have cd

Listen...Go out and buy this CD. Why did it take me so long to find this guy and his music? I don't care about any technical crap. This music is incredible. You will not be disappointed with this CD. I happen to disagree with another reviewer who stated all the songs sound alike. In my opinion that couldn't be farther from the truth. Walter brings in keyboards and the sax, but always lurking in the background is that oh so powerful guitar. So many good songs to choose from, but when I've finished listening to the CD, it seems that the lyrics from Lookin'for the promised land stick in my head. The production on that song (background vocals etc.) is powerful stuff. One last time... BUY THIS CD!
Absolutely BLISTERING blues guitar!!!.......2003-10-09
It is hard, VERY hard, to listen to this music without being completely and utterly blown away by this man's incredible talent. Walter Trout's playing is jaw-droppingly raw and packs more emotion into a single chord than some artists can manage in an entire album! But then, this is almost to be expected from a man who has played with the true blues greats, including John Lee Hooker, John Mayall, and Canned Heat. GUARANTEED to please! I can heartily recommend this album! Seriously smokin' blues!
Elecrified blues rock.......2003-03-14
I have about five albums by Walter Trout, and in my opinion they sound very similar to each other. The problem is that a whole album from start to finish just is too much, since there's way too little variation between the songs, and the songs are usually too long - you get bored before Mr. Trout thinks it's enough. "Go the distance" suffers from the same problem as any other Walter Trout album. But some songs are very good, especially the acoustic "Bugle Billy" and "Ride till I'm satisfied" with its powerful guitar riff. The mid tempo rocking "Love so deep" and the slower "Looking for the promised land" with nice vocal harmonies are also better than average. The same goes for the strutting traditional rock `n' roll sounding "I don't want my MTV", with the lyrics "...I don't need no choreography / I'll leave that to Britney Spears / I just wanna play it fast and loud like I've been doing for years..." And Walter Trout is certainly doing exactly what he's been doing for years. If you like the electrified blues rock genre I suppose you'll find pleasure in Walter Trout's "Go the distance".

Not impressed.......2003-11-25
I was not terribly impressed with this CD. Fortunately, I decided to get it from the library to see if it was good before deciding whether or not to buy it.
Although the orchestration of the songs is well done, most of them simply were not meant to be performed by a chorus; and they sound terrible in that form. If you want some of the songs on this CD, I suggest you look at one of Disney's compilation CDs in the Classic Disney Vol. 1-5 series or the actual soundtracks of the movies.
Inexorable wonder!.......2001-06-23
Where to start?! Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra have had a track record for recording some of the most stupendous movie music ever. Magical Musicals is just another example of how audaciously bold, yet beautiful Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops have taken the original scores, molded them into the same pieces, yet at the same time, creating life of their own in each and every note. If you are looking for ANY soundtrack containing Disney music, this should be the first CD you listen to. There are others out there, and yes, they may sound beautiful and enchanting, but you won't find such a unique and compelling score anywhere else other than this CD. Check it out!!

Disc is not like live, but-.......2000-10-10
I did not appreceate "Going The Distance" when I first heard it like I have other Promise Keepers CDs by The Maranatha Promise Keepers Band. But, that was before I went to the conference in Worcester, MA. Hearing these songs "live" made my CD come alive. The conference was one of the best and I have played my "Going The Distance" CD for a straight month since. CDs are not like "live" but when you have the proper equipment and the opportunity to ADJUST the volume, it is close. Maranatha selected a varity of styles in the songs on this CD. Something for everyone. I enjoy them all.
Good, but a little embellished.......2000-09-26
I really enjoyed this CD, and was REALLY impressed with "That's Why We Praise Him". I am personally somebody that isn't really impressed with worship CDs where the musicians really embellish the songs. Why can't the CDs sound like the songs in concert?
The Maranatha Promise Band was a lot more fun in person at PK in Sacramento. That was an INCREDIBLE conference, and the music was the best part about it. Just got back, it was great.
I was REALLY blessed by the new rendition of "The Doxology". I go to a Presbyterian church, and we sing this song every Sunday, and LOVE the song. But, this version of it was really good.

The fierce, challenging pace of The Capricorns can seem overwhelming at times, but you just need to be drunk, in that case. Guitar World Magazine said of The Capricorns "... the skill of h.lynn rivals that of Hendrix, and in an incarnation much unseen these days, [The Capricorns] are to modern jazz fusion what T.Rex was to the contemporary swing era." I feel anyone who picks up this album can agree. Since The Capricorns, my Chia Pet even grows faster! They are a Jesus for modern times. Get The Capricorns while they are still deciding to make enough albums to sell to their fans.
The embryo of a new musical genre.......2003-08-09
The capricorns hit me swiftly as their fast-paced-depressive suburb-teenager text grew on me, being a teenager myself i instantly recognized myself in their lyrics. So what ? you may say, self destructive teen music isnt exactly a new genre. What makes this band interesting is their instruments, equipped with two 80,s casio keyboards, the music really hits you as simple in the beginning, but it dawns on me that its not easy to play on them, and they are really doing a good song. GO listen to this album, i'll guarantee you that you will be surprised by this fresh new band.
