Customer Reviews:
Excellent.......2005-12-07
I have had this CD for 3 years, and im on here to buy a copy for my friend. I love this cd. "I found someone" is my favorite. The orhestration and composition is just awesome. "The hills" is great, the latter part of that song takes us back to "do the humpty hump", the beat that is...........anyway Natalie has been out for years and The sounds of praise chorale as well. The former SOP'er Fath Evans is also on the cd. Its a excellent project filled with haunting melodies and emotionally driven lyrics, that evokes the spirirt of worship.......U gottah here the last tracks to both of her CDs...........they take u in lol.
Wasn't all that.......2005-10-17
When I heard the single "Act Like You Know" I decided to give the CD a try. After listening through the CD, I thought it was kind of boring. The only songs I liked were
Act like you know - a very nice beat
Brother/Sister-this one is tight
Crown - beautiful melody, nice words and "The Hills"
I really did not enjoy this CD fully; I wasn't feeling most of the songs. If you like contemporary gospel I really don't recommend this CD.
Impressive 1st album, dying to hear the second LP..................2004-10-15
Man, it just seems like some of the best gospel music out there come from artists and groups with little or no buzz behind their name. Natalie Wilson & S.O.P fall right into that category. This album came out in 2000 but I just came to know who she was less than a year ago, and what I've heard from her so far is impressive. She tends to sound too much like Lil Kim tho', and she even mimics her in one of the songs. I don't think Lil Kim would be a good person for a christian to imitate. That's just my belief.
Anyway, some of the beats on Girl Director are some of the sickest beats that I have ever heard with choir backing, but not in an Out The Box kinda way tho'. The beat on "Hills" is a shoulder-rocker. Same for "Rock", "Act Like You Know", and "Calvary". The slow songs are also heartfelt if you really focus on the words. I must have listened to "Time Will Tell" at least 50 times since I got this LP! "Crown" features Faith Evans and it's another gem in itself. I just wish Faith would stop being a hypocrite and just stay in R&B or get saved and sing for the Lord. Get the album if you don't already have it. It will bless your soul.
Gospel music at its best!.......2004-04-12
I first heard of Natalie Wilson when I saw her video for "Act like you know" on one of the gospel channels. I didn't buy the cd though because she was still a fairly new artist to me. So I didn't know if it would be any good.
Then I heard "Free" from her second album, so I said I need to pick that one up because that song was slammin. So of course I bought the second album "The good life" first which is off the hook. I just purchased this one which is almost just as good but not as long. It's a great debut for Natalie Wilson and proves that she only gets better and better. Now I have both cds in my ride rotating back and fourth between them. for all you contemporary gospel lovers out there this cd is a must have for your collection.
Amazing !.......2003-03-23
Oh my dear God, this CD is wonderful ! Had never even heard of her until I read the reviews here at Amazon, so I took a chance and bought it. Listened to it as soon as I got it and wow, this is definitely a jewel.
The first song I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with was "I Found Someone". That song is so beautifully orchestrated that it brought tears to my eyes literally. It evokes emotions and tears and just makes you think about it.. As the lyrics state "When I was down in my spirit, You rescued me".. Hallelujah :)
This CD... I love it. You can tell that they meant everything they sang on this record. Every single lyric is backed up with heartfelt praise in the form of song ! This CD is a BLESSED addition to your gospel collection ! :o)
